I remember seeing adds with your Dad Wallace [Mr Sawdust] in old Fine Woodworking issues in 1985 that a friend gave me. I did not appreciate just who he was at the time, but later on upon acquiring a DeWalt 950 I really became a fan of his. Unfortunately I never got to let him know how much I appreciated his work. It is so great to find this channel.....cheers from Florida, Paul

What a wonderful set of teachers! I remember first setting up a shop. Most of the machine's i bought where cheap HF and such .... i don't have a single one 18 years later.... I just got that same Radial Arm Saw about a year ago and am slowly getting it all tuned up when i have time, Mr Sawdust RAS book is on it way!

This is awesome! I bought the Mr. Sawdust 'How to master the RAS' book probably over 15 years ago now from the U.S. (I'm in Australia and no Amazon back them that I remember...) and read it cover to cover. Life got in the way to actually do a lot with it but I did build a new table for it and do a few simple projects. After just bringing it out of storage to finally have a bit of time to use it it is great to stumble on a video of the man himself! Hoping to see other videos in the series if possible, subscribed, cheers

I wonder if those cabinets are still around today? I'd love to see them up close
@MrSawdust3 жыл бұрын
They're very much around today - proudly hanging in the Mr. Sawdust "tribute room" inside the new School of Woodworking in New Jersey. You can see them in some of Wally's videos on his channel (kzbin.info/door/5V6v9hkT88tSMJEvJjYV3Q)

Does anyone know what model Hegner Scroll Saw that is?
@dvdwlsh8 ай бұрын
I've tried to work that out myself - I'm thinking it's something like a Multicut 18? Fairly certain Wally Jr. still has that very Hegner at his Mr. Sawdust School in New Jersey.

why do you need a table saw and a radial saw?
@JustFixIt993 жыл бұрын
I was also surprised to see a table saw in his shop
@Gold-oj8do Жыл бұрын
It's way easier to rip on a table saw and cross cut with a radial arm saw or a sliding miter. I use all three.
@ScreamingEagleFTW Жыл бұрын
@@Gold-oj8dodid you ever rip on a radial arm saw?
@Gold-oj8do Жыл бұрын
@@ScreamingEagleFTW I haven't ripped anything with a radial arm saw for 40+ years. I use my table saw for that. How about you?
@ScreamingEagleFTW Жыл бұрын
@@Gold-oj8do I rip all the time on my 12" Craftsman RAS from 1975. Works perfect. Its not really fair to say a table saw its easier to rip on than a RAS if you have never really used it for ripping very much. Its just a skill that you have to learn just like ripping on a table saw. Ive used both and prefer the RAS for ripping, safer and easier imo. I can rip a 4x8 sheet of plywood in half. I admit I cant cross cut a 4x8 sheet of plywood but its not hard with a 4 foot homemade guide and a skill saw. No sure how easy that is on a normal table saw.

we own 2 radial arm saws and no table saws.

If you have your own shop, you need tools. If your the only one using it your do not have to have a certain place. In my shop, I leave my tools where I last use them. I can remember my last project and the tools i used and that is where I left left them. Imagine how much you could have accomplished if you did not have to organize your shop. We won WW2 by; Build, Test and Fix, Quickly. My suggestion "turning a disadvantage into an advantage" is to build an operating mockup from paper, cardboard, plywood, So, make it first from whatever and then use the Cherry, Walnut (I have a cache) study the joints and fasteners and apply the Test; Create an Operations Process Chart and apply the rules for improvement; Eliminate, Combine and Simplify. The old rule; measure twice and do it right once. Iguana Dave, GET SMART, VOTE TRUMP He understands; Experience, Competency, Curiosity, Courage and how to make things better.

Parks. Made from the 40s through the 60s or so. You can find them with a Craftsman badge, too. Same machine.
