I’m not sure about your problem with the front wheels. If you look at the photo in the Slot It box, that car seems to have the same wheels as your newer version…!

So the aero wheel covers in GrpC are sometimes taken off these days, for shows, in the real 1:1 scale cars. During races, GrpC cars that were fitted with covers as part of their aero package, almost always used them. In vintage racing or touring shows, say, Goodwood Festival for example (which is where I'm pretty that pic comes from on the Slot.it box), they remove to expose all 4 wheels. The 'gold stars' on the 787b were not exposed up front, during Le Mans 1991, but now, why hide a nice touch when it's all for show?! So, yes, underneath the aero cover, they're all the same wheels, but during the race, the front wheels were covered. I aim for running the cars as close to the livery as they can be when raced, if it's possible to make it more authentic. This was an easy, achievable 'fix', even though not necessary. Not that I'm aware. You would have to maybe by the Tamiya kit, choose your parts carefully and put it under a BRM chassis, maybe. I don't know enough about 1/24 scale or the possible wheelbase adjustment needs...but it could be an interesting project
