Wow. This is really excellent. Beautiful composition, selection of sounds, & mixing/recording. I have a JV1010, XV-5080, & Vintage Synth Expansion. I've heard that the Vintage Synth board can sound quite different when installed in a JV1010, JV-880, JD-990, & XV5080. The JD-990 allegedly has the warmest filters of all of them. It sounds really great here. I've heard many of your compositions & I really like your music.

Nice demo. I am the lucky owner of 3 JD990's. I will never sell them. Even today it is capable to create up to date sounds. Clearly, it is the best synth Roland has ever made. Its sounds can be warm, nasty, fat. Now is the time to buy one as they are sold for only 350€.

Beautiful horn at: 2:00 however - how can a synth not have the fake and therefore unnatural vibrato? Would that have to be re-sampled - then extend the sample thus removing the looping?

VERY nice stuff. You're really pushing the JD-990 to the limit here & it sounds amazing. I have a Roland XV-5080 & JV-1010 & SR-JV80-04 Vintage Synth Expansion Board. It is IMO not only Roland's best expansion (I have nearly all the SRX & SR-JV boards), but 1 of the best expansion boards, PERIOD. It's far better than Korg's EXB PCM 05 EXB-PCM05 Vintage Archives. (fairly disappointing) Even Alesis' Vintage Synthesizers Q-Card is at least as good, or possibly even better than Korg's ECB-PCM05 IMO.

I always enjoy your demos - however for me the cut off point for the last great roland synth is the d50 for me - I did used to want one of these 990's - at the time - but never had one - I dont think its v good now - compare this to Omnisphere with its bowed synths and it cant stand up to it - I do really love your demos - the dx7ii module one you did is one of my faves

I just learned this from vintage synth: The JD-990 can hold one internal expansion board and the best choice is to put the Vintage expansion in it because that gives you about 512 patches (Only 255 from JV-series!) of which 256 are specially programmed for the JD-990. I uploaded it into my JV-1080, now I MUST take it out of there and put it into my JD-990. Thanks for the upload and the amazing sounds. :) I'm subscribed. Were the external delays added - in real time during performance or in a DAW post?

They’re added in Cubase after the recording.

The problem with adding effects in post, is that the musician reacts in real time while playing, without the effects being feed back to the musician, the experience is not as grand as if it is provided in real time to the performer. And may I add, the playing is different according what the performer is experiencing. This is why ear monitors for the performer are used.
