This is so awesome! I'm living vicariously through you and I hope you don't mind. The trumpets or velocity stacks facilitate airflow into the engine by smoothing out the air flowing in. Some people say they're pretty critical but if I remember right the filter might perform that role in their place. The TPS should be just like any other TPS. As in, less than a volt at closed throttle and close to 5V at WOT. Unless it's simply a closed throttle switch but I've never come across that personally, though that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You can check it with a DVOM set on resistance by connecting the meter and sweeping the throttle. If it's goes from X(random number) ohms to OL then it's a switch. If it smoothly changes from one value to another it's a regular TPS. Being that it's a 3 wire sensor it's likely a regular TPS. Hope that helps and trust I'm not trying to be a jerk! I just wanna see this baby in action! Have you ever heard an ITB car in person? It's pure sex!!!

You are correct in that the velocity stacks are there to smooth the flow and they do help with power (we have seen 10-20bhp gains when fitting them to a set of bike carbs that did not have any!). The filter does not do the same job, that is purely filtration and thus we always recommend running both a filter AND stacks. The TPS is as you say a 'typical' linear 5v sweep. It can be used on any aftermarket ignition ECU such as NODIZ or megajolt. All ECU's such as this will allow calibration of the sensor.

Well, actually you are not entirely incorrect. On the dyno we have seen marginal gains (eg 2-3 lb/ft across a 2000-3000rpm range) in torque by running back to back with no filter vs a filter and thus there probably is some truth in it stabilising the air. But this effect is not on the same level as stacks vs no stacks.

I’ve noticed that every time someone does a bike carb conversion they always angle the carbs facing up. Do they need to be angled like that or can they face forward?

The angle is super important as it determines the level of fuel in the float bowl and thus how the carbs run. If the angle is wrong you can never get them to run right. They can definitely not face down.

Thanks. The carbs come pre-jetted from DanST engineering so you can fire up the car. Then you can do the fine tuning on a dyno. I ordered a full jet kit just in case and will make a detailed video on the jetting.

Can you help me? If i have an engine that has an ac compresor and need an idle up, My question is can we install the idle up on the bike carb? Thank you

It all depends on how your idle air control valve system works and where it is connected. If it's designed to control the throttle plate directly than it won't work. You will also likely need to keep your stock ECU if it operates the idle air control valve. Carbureted cars also have a similar system called the idle speed control valve which you could consider retrofitting depending on your setup.

Hey, what is that third fitting on the fuel pump? At first I thought it was a return line, but you said there is no return and now I'm kinda clueless about that.

The third fitting seems to be some sort of breather or something, it's definitely not a fuel line.

Huh, interesting, I found out that this pump with that fitting is usually used on kawasaki mules, on hondas it is just left alone. Couldn't find info on why is it there, but there is always rubber hose going somewhere from it

Also it seems that this model of pump likes to be gravity fed and can't really suck fuel itself that much. I assume you still goingt to use it together with the in-tank one? Although maybe I'm talking out of my ass here and its just looks the same but has different internals and is powerful enough to suck fuel in :)

MrDoroh You're right. It needs to be mounted at or below the level of the fuel tank, so pretty much gravity fed. I decided to disable in tank pump and have figured out how to mount this. There will be a detailed video on the fuel supply pretty soon.

These carbs don't have them. They are originally on the runners on the engine and not on the carbs in this case.

@@cr4zyw3ld3r You only need the balance bar for a map sensor. You don't need one if you run tps and crank trigger based standalone ignition.

Dylan Bill Itbs are not necessarily fuel injected. Itbs means nothing more than individual throttle bodies. I have four cylinders and four throttle bodies, instead of 1 throttle body for all 4 cylinders. Itbs says nothing about the manner of fuel delivery, it can be either injection or carburetted. I am using an ECU to run the distributor and provide timing advance. It's cheap, simple and reliable to use the stock ecu for this. I do plan to go megasquirt or similar eventually. ITBs means 100% of the time fuel injection. I would say a throttle body is not a carburetor as a throttle body is a ... throttle and it needs an injector somewhere to deliver fuel while the carb makes the throttle and delivers the fuel so it's different. I'm curious to see how you'll deal with the ECU, will you flash the thing ? Good luck man in your build!

+driving 4 answers (mr2 mk1 hero) I think this debate is like what a tech defines a throttle body as vs what an engineer defines a throttle body as. I'm a tech so for me anything carbureted has carbs, anything injected has throttle bodies. So which side are you on D4A? The guys who design and engineer this stuff and rarely have to work on it, or the guys in the trenches who have to figure out to make this stuff live in the real world? How you answer will decide your future from here on out. Are you with us, or... J/K! Who really cares?! Its to-may-toe vs. to-mah-toe! As long we know what the other means we'll get along fine.

Hmm, that's a v6 so it's a lot harder to do it. I haven't seen a ready made kit. But you can get in touch with DanStengineering and ask them. If anyone can make it, they can.
