DLSS 4 Launch & Frame Gen Mod Update | Microsoft Flight Simulator

Important: This was a long, whacky day trying to figure this out and I'm not entirely happy with this video. The FG Mod is ONLY for RTX 20- and 30-series cards. The updated Frame Gen mod allows the sim to use Preset K, which is the new Frame Gen technology from NVidia. RTX 40- and 50-series cards only need to set "DLSS Override - Frame Generation" to "Latest", you can see the setting @2:35 in the video, below "Model Presets" in the list.

I can't get frame gen to work with the new Nvidia drivers and the new frame gen mod. I had it working before and it was good gave me 2x the fps 😭 what em i doing wrong is Nvidia blocking it because i have a 3080ti Update: uninstalling just the Nvidia app fixed this

I've been struggling with msfs 2024 for 10 hours. After I installed the new driver, msfs2024 crashed at 60% loading of the game. I looked with the chat of nvidea what went wrong but basic stuff. After reinstalling msfs2024 the same result crash at 60% Then the driver turned back to the old version and msfs2024 started again. I've been busy reinstalling all add ons and resetting the old settings. If all goes well I can fly again now. I don't use frame gen mod. MSSF 2024 Autofps BeyondAtc On Air Company RTX 4090 What steps do you advise me, or is it waiting for the new update of msfs2024 which solves the dlss problem of probably the missing dll's?

After many trials of the framegen mod, including this latest version with DLSS4, it just never worked well at all with my 3070 OC. My holy grail tool for framegen has been Lossless Scaling and thanks to this channel. AutoFPS + DLSS4 Performance + Secondary Scaling = 2.0 + Lossless Scaling are the best combination for me.

Wow!!! What a cluster. Insane that in this day you have to jump through this many hoops. Thanks for all your work researching this, and sharing the info! Someday I might actually get to fly a plane in the Sims. ;-) Oh - and here's a twist - For most folks this is totally applicable. However there are many of us out there that fly in VR. And it seems that VR has its own set of tricks and settings and limitations as well. I'm just assuming most of this works in VR (except maybe the frame gen). I'm hoping DLSS4 at least provides better visuals in VR, even if I don't get significant improvement in Frame rate.

I've got a 3090Ti and all the of the DLSS overrides are unavailable for MSFS 2020... I followed everything line by line in your video to no avail. However, after swapping the latest DLSS file in MSFS 2020 and installing the new frame gen version, MSFS looks pretty darn awesome and is smooth as butter. Hello, I used DLSS Swapper to install the latest DLSS for MSFS 2020. I set it up as you mentioned, using the nvidia app to ensure it's updated to the latest version. I haven't experienced any issues yet,I did a quick check on FLL Gate 8, Fenix A320 , everything looks good for now. I’m running in Quality mode with a secondary scaling of 1.2.

Good morning, captain. A lot of new things came out at the same time in the last few days, a lot of expectations. I spent all day yesterday wasting time testing a complete catalog of updates and new things, instead of using the simulator as it should be used. It was a wasted day because most of these updates are just good for putting in the trash. Today i have everything sorted out and ready to take a flight in msfs 2024. For all those who are having problems and who are wasting time walking around something useless, you can test what i have. Of course, our systems are different. I have a 7800X3D + 4070 Ti + 32G 6000 cl30, 1440p on an IPS 165Hz monitor. I don't have the stupid app, dlss swapper with dlss 310.2.1.0, dlss fg 310.2. DRIVER 566.14 (3 months ago driver), Nv profile inspector 2.4.0.8 with Resisable Bar enabled, dlss profile F. Everything on Ultra, Dinamic LOD Reset Edition, FG enabled in game fps locked at 54 in RTSS and Lossless Scaling at 3X (to get 162 fps, a little below 165) with FSR scaling sharpness 1. Regarding the driver, i discovered that all of the latter cause problems, loss of performance, stutters, ctd's, this last one doesn't even let me go above 90% in loading . Regarding the dlss profile, I always liked F more, because all the others cause artifacts and the numbers on the instruments don't run smoothly, including J. I didn't try K because I don't use that stupid app. I install the drivers with Nv clean install 8.0. Thank you, captain, for always being on the crest of the wave and always showing us first-hand the news that is coming out. Good flights and a great weekend to everyone.

Great videos! Very useful so thank you. After this latest round of updates, I took off in the Vulcan and at around 40,000ft, my performance dropped significantly to 13fps and didn't recover. Latency was 263-300 ms. Have never had this issue before. Am using a 30 series card with FG mod (latest), latest DLSS and Nvidia drivers. Something isn't working well somewhere with this latest update (MSFS 24).

Presets have been updated. Latest Preset is K. Need to update DLSS Swapper to latest DLSS file 310.2.1.0. Also need to change the following values in Profile Inspector to enable Prest K and Transformer Mode- Preset K = 0x0000000B (in the Common Section under Force Preset Letter) , Enable DLSS-SR override - 0x0000000, Override DLSS-RR presets - 0x00FFFFFF. Remember, Preset E is the GO-TO for DLSS 3, Preset J is the new DLSS 4 Transformer model from last week, Preset K is the latest DLSS 4 Transformer model. Since you are not running an RTX 4000 series GPU, I suggest you disable the Frame Gen Mod for your DLSS testing, because we can mix the results. I think almost all your artifacts were coming from FG, and not DLSS itself.

Lets also say that, hypothetically of course, I got SIGNIFICANTLY worse performance and visuals in MSFS 2024 after doing all this... How would one fix that? Roll back the NVIDIA drivers, go into profile inspector and reset everything to default, and then reinstall the new NVIDIA driver again? I guess I shouldnt worry about what DLSS Swapper says since it will be overwritten or if it is set to the same drivers as the current one I'm using, it will essentially do nothing. Once again, this is all hypothetical.

ok, so finally managed to get this all working, had to reinstall the Nvidia app before i saw all the options become active (thank you for that suggestion in the video) - however, also found that after applying the automatic tuning through the App, MSFS 2020 would launch - kept crashing within seconds of launch and coming up with a graphics card failure notification. I used the 'restore' option and it now works - but that is rather concerning!

A few questions and a comment. Do you still set a max frame rate in the Nvidia Control Center to half the monitor refresh rate? Do you still set the Anisiotropic filter to 16x in the control center and 'off' in the sim? Do you still use Auto_FPS? OK so everything is working fine (in both sims) for me and my RTX 2060 PRIOR to implementing the changes in this video. Latest Nvidia driver, 310.1 DLSS files, profile J via Nvidia Profile Inspector and the previous frame gen mod (the one currently on the Nexus Hub). Sounds like I and others need to take things one step at a time so not to break things. One thing I am going to do to take it out of the equation is to roll back from the Beta in 2024 (I'm having some avionics/Navigraph issues anyway).

The "K" profile he is referring to I believe only comes from using the frame gen mod. If you have a 40 series card, you will only be able to set the "frame generation" part of the override setting to "latest". This is for 2024 btw. I don't know about 2020. But I'm pretty confident the K preset is only with frame gen mod.

Replace file will appear only if you already have the old version installed. If you didnt have it installed before, you wont get copy and replace.

I was literally looking for a way to get in touch with you, because I've figured out Nvidia hosed the framegen mod with the new driver. lol Edit: I've been working on this all night and I can't get 2020 to acknowledge the framegen mod for nuttin'. lol My solution is likely gonna be Lossless Scaling till they get this worked out. I'd just roll back the drivers but I've got a fair few games that'd like this new driver and DLSS4.

Frame generation doesn't work in VR anyway. You can only use special VR technology instead like motion reprojection, ASW, SSW etc.

I updated the Nvidia app, updated the driver to latest version, restarted the PC. But, in the Nvidia app, for FS2020, at the top, there is "Unable to retrieve settings. Try again later." and for FS2024, at the top, there is "Unable to load optimal values. Try again later." For both FS2020 and FS2024, in Driver Settings, each of the three DLSS Override Model.../Frame.../Super Resolution... shows Unsupported. No idea why. I have a 3090 GPU.

Try this: task manager, close any NVIDIA related program and be sure that doesn’t restart go to Run and type App data go to Local>NVIDIA Corporation and rename Nvidia App, I just put an x in front after that, re-install Nvidia app and everything is great again

New drivers to me sux. I lost 10-15fps. I was getting solid 60fps with my 14900f rtx 4070 ti super 16gb an 64gb ram. I dont trust nvidia they want to sell 50 series cards so slowing down 40 series is not surprising. I rolled back driver for now. If it aint broke dont try to fix it as they say. Rather enjoy sim than constantly obsessing over dll files.

This happened to me when I used the beta driver and I rolled back. With this latest I've gained a small amount, just not anything that's outside the margin of error. However overall the sim (2024) is smoother. It seems everyone experiences different outcomes.

Hi @IslandSimPilot and thanks for your efforts. Unfortunately my Overide options are all three still greyed out. I must have the latest veersion of the Nvidia app because there is no option otherwise. I am logged into Nvidia, I have driver #572.16 and I have tried with and without MSFS 2020 running. DLSS Overide - Models Preset says that Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition does not support this feature. I know this is super early in the new DLSS and I know that if others have this problem and there is a solution, you will present it for us. So thanks again for now.

Secondly, what about DLSS Super Resolution? Do we do anything with that? I have been a fan of your Holy Grail settings for some time. Got it working, but now, after a few minutes of MSFS staring, my GPU fan (which is normally buzzing away quite fast when in the sim, goes quite and the game hangs, it doesn’t CTD, but it stops responding. That’s a new one on me!

The Nvidia app causes the sim to CTD for some reason. If you uninstall the app it works fine with the new driver...

Msfs2020 I get CTD at loading screen and sometimes randomly in menu. I've tried uninstalling the app and suddenly no crashes. That's what discord people figured it out. I'm not the only one reporting this issue

This is for Nvidia cards, but I know AMD has it's own frame gen as well. FSR I believe it is called.

Hi Mate I've followed the steps in all your videos re frame gen and no matter what I do I still can not get it to show up in 2020 also all the options in the nvidea app for dlss are greyed out in both sims. In theory yes, but I'm hoping the new DLSS 310.10.2 files come up in the swapper in the next day or so, the app seems a bit buggy.

Got an 4070. Can't set Profile K in the Nvidia Inspector did i need the Frame Gen Mod with an 40er card or something special to get from "J" to "K" ?

You wont be able to set K in there at the moment. If you watched his previous video DLSS Driver 571.96 Early Access you'll recall you needed to download the Custom Names Setting file, there needs to be an updated version of that for K to appear.

So, I'm using MSFS2020 40th Anniversary and have an RTX 4070Ti Super card installed. All three of my DLSS settings are greyed out and say "Unsupported." Not really sure why. DLSS set to 1 in the User.cfg and HAGS enabled. DX12Beta also enabled.

Still the Frame Gen mod produces lot of artifacts and ghosting while takeoff and landing 😢 and as a newbie to flight sim with those HUD turned off its hard

@medyapimnetherland527 I was able to fix it. I believe it was me disabling my Nvidia checks. However, I did have a Windows update. I did both of those, and I was able to get the sim running again. I also realized I put the frame gen mod into my common folder on my C drive when MSFS 2020 is on a different drive.

I used the dlSS swapper and the inspector for a race Simulator game, so instead of doing the global options should I just do specifically for that simulator so it doesn't override the new dlss file through Nvidia app

Okay got my stuff working smoothly after uninstalling and then reinstalling Nvidia app. Holey damn using Nvidias optimized settings even made my game run insanely good, and it looks way cleaner than before. I dont even need autofps anymore... thats how stable my 2020 is looking now.

@ 100% agree ! Honestly, to date not a fan of the Nvidia app. I'm using it right now just to test if it has improved from my previous try of it. I don't have any need for the overlays and the other tools, its just more gunk. I also have no use for the recommended settings for the games as its way way off optimal for a sim pit with 3x4K and 1x2K.

I like IslandSimPilot because he does find some great settings. However I really hate the way he explains things in his videos because his explanations are often all over the place and he does not seem to realize that most of us have his video playing on the tv or other device while doing the settings he is suggesting. So the problem resides when he is explaining a setting for 202, 2024, store version, and steam version. In his videos he mixes all the explanations for all 4 and makes it really hard to follow. His. Does would be way better if he would give all the explanations for one platform at a time instead of mixing it all.

What do you suggest I should use for my RTX 3060? I have the latest nVidia driver and app and all the DLSS stuff all greyed out. It's telling my that FS2024 isn't compatible. For DLSS Model Presets and Frame Generation, it's fixed to "Use the 3D application setting" and for Super Resolution, it says it's "Unsupported". I'm confused.

Try uninstalling the app, restarting your PC and then reinstalling the app. This is happening to a lot of people!

hi question, you did a vid not so long ago on changing the config for the dlss scaling in the lh777f , this got rid of the pfd artificing. I have now changed to preset k and running a rtx4070ti super - would you still change the config as i'm still getting ghosting on the tapes? i tried reading through all the comments on here but not seen anyone mention it so apologies if there is already a thread about this!

Broooo please please please reply to me..I don't update this app since the FPS MONITOR is so stupid and silly in the new app. Not that green tiny one which I used also they have combined everything in 1 go which is so confusing. 1st I knew where are the settings were now it's all combines. I hope u understand I had a hard time uninstall and to old version. So my driver's are always updated and the app keep asking me to update that interface only so every the ge force experience is also updated just that overlay app is old..I'm using
