I just bought mine, great video and info on it. Just one question, how long did it take you to cut the lawn, that would give us an idea, I may have missed it. Did it take an hour, more or less than that? Thanks a bunch
@SanDiego_VDubLife
@SanDiego_VDubLife 2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I am not sure but I would say if you held the trigger for 45 minutes straight non stop it would last. But the cool thing is when your cutting weeds and grass you usually aren’t holding the tigger the entire time and when you not holding the trigger the machine is off. Kinda like an hybrid car when you come to a stop sign. Over all the battery should last you a good hour and a half of cutting if you are just trimming things here and there. Because realistically you are not holding the trigger down the entire time you are working on your yard. Give it a try and tell me what happens. 😁

@@SanDiego_VDubLife I edged my yard yesterday which is 1000sq ft. I had a full battery and it took me about 45minutes off and on. The battery still had 3 out of 4 lights when I was done, so, worked great and last for a pretty long time I would say. thanks again for the info, very helpful

@@angelapatsios3546 that’s awesome. And you don’t even have to charge it. It’s recommended to take the battery off when you not using it. The battery will hold the charge until next time you need it. Thanks for the reply. I love to hear how it worked out for people. I’m gonna pin your comment so people know.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Lousiest instruction manual from Ryobi I’ve ever seen. Really good drawings, but no explanations to match. Great instructional vid. Ryobi owes you big time. You deserve to make money off this. Spent an hour trying to assemble the head by the instructions…. Watched you, took under five minutes.

Extremely helpful. The written "instructions" which came with the trimmer were so worthless that Ryobi might as well have saved the paper. No way could this be assembled by a regular earthling without the assistance of a video like yours. You are a good deed doer. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this.

Hey no problem. My pleasure. I actually just posted a one year update to show naysayers how well this thing still works. I never have to charge this thing. Good video man thanks so much! I bought one today as I have had the lawn mower brushless 40V for almost three years now and love it. They take the same battery so now I am starting the electric lawn tool set up and getting rid of gas. I cannot agree with you more about the gas trimmers! Also my battery on my mower went corrupt after 2 years and 9 months. I called ryobi and they replaced it for free as the batteries have a three year warranty so there is an additional bonus to owning these tools. I subscribed so thanks again!

And Ryobi's 4 cycle version of this weed eater has a timing belt inside that does NOT have a tensioner or adjustment on it. That is called "built-in obsolescence". If the belt wears out or becomes loose, it is a huge job to replace it. And if the loose belt damaged the spindle head and shaft that it rotates on, that component, I have read, is not available to purchase and replace. So you have to throw the weed eater away!!! I may have also read that if the timing belt breaks, the engine will also be destroyed.

@SanDiego_VDubLife

Seems weird. Yeah the wing nut is how it tightens down. If it’s new might be a bad part. You might have stripped the bolt when tightening as well. Or cracked a piece of plastic by over tightening. I have the 18 volt tool line up and considering getting one of these. I have the older 18 volt trimmer because I have a ton of those batteries but the weed eater is under powered and not a brushless motor. It works but not good enough for me. Leaning toward the 40 volt series for the yard tools for the extra power. The replacement batteries are $$$ though. The hand tools work great off the 18 volt and I don't see Ryobi switching from that format in the future.

I did something stupid today. I wanted to see how long the 4Ah lasts on a heavy job, but I grabbed the 6. I should have known by the size that I had the wrong battery. naturally, it did the whole yard. BTW, if my 6aH battery runs out while I'm cutting grass with the mower, the 4aH works just fine in the mower to finish, and vice versa.

Two questions: 1. Charging time? 2. Run time?
@SanDiego_VDubLife
@SanDiego_VDubLife 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t take that long to fully charge, maybe an hour if it’s totally dead. It last for a good amount of time. I would say at least an hour straight if you never took your finger off the trigger. But remember it only uses the battery when you actually holding the trigger. There is no idle which is great because like an electric car it’s not running while your stopped. I’ve never had a problem of running out of battery. But I would have to remember in order to give you an exact answer. But battery has never been an issue and I have a .25 acre back yard

Thanks for the video. I bought this in the fall but had no idea how to begin putting together and let it sit in the garage. Watched this and finally put it together. Silly questions but how long should the string edges be sticking it to use? And does it matter if I bump it while it’s off or turned on running? I feel like I kept bumping it on the grass to let out more string but it wouldn’t. I think I was bumping it while turned off and can’t recall if I tried to bump while holding trigger on
@SanDiego_VDubLife
@SanDiego_VDubLife 3 жыл бұрын
Yes bump while turning. You should leave about 3-4 inches. But it has a blade that will cut off any extra so if you bump too much it will cut off the extra. You only need to bump it once while it’s spinning. Lemme know if you still need help.

I’m not sure why there are two different ones. They may be older versus newer models perhaps? If you got the same exact one as me they should be the same. Check the comments though cuz another guy said he has one like you and he might say why it’s different.
