In today’s video I show y’all how the lawn is doing 3 weeks after performing a height of cut reset. The bermuda is slowly but surely filling in and starting to really look good again. The backyard still has a ways to go in some areas. I also introduce y’all to my new trimmer. Last week I purchased the Ryobi 40V Brushless Attachment Capable String Trimmer. We’ll take a look at what comes in the box, and discuss a few of the finer points.

I just picked up the carbon fiber version. It's an awesome machine. Its light and very easy to use. Best part is it's more powerful than gas powered one. Great video too.

Hey yall. Just want to drop by and say Ryobi Expand-it series stuff in the 40v is no joke. I own/operate a lawn care company and made the switch from gas to battery 4 seasons ago. Gone are the days of mixing 50:1, and 40:1. No more draining tanks, changing plugs/filters. With this string trimmer, you pop the battery in and get to work. 5 year tool warranty/3year battery warranty BUT... I'm happy to report that I've never had to take advantage of the warranty thus far. 4 seasons in, and I'm still using the same trimmer daily, the same leaf blower daily. These things WORK. Sure they don't have the power that some of the big gas Echo/Stihl blowers/trimmers have, but if you're doin residential properties (1 acre and under) you'll have no issue with these. I originally bought them with the idea of "I'll get the homeowner models to start off and then upgrade to Milwaukee/Stihl/Echo battery powered things in the future". Honestly, until these things break apart, I'm sticking with them and couldn't be happier with them. And hey - As a side note for all you "Milwaukee tools are the ONLY tools I'll buy" people out there. Milwaukee and Ryobi tools are manufactured out of the same building, and a few years back Milwaukee reverse engineered all the Ryobi batteries to match specs on like tools. Basically the same tool, different color, 1/2 the price.

You are so right. The only thing I did was upgrade to the Echo Speedfeed 400 trimmer head. The Ryobi heads are pure garbage. Ryobi did make good on them by sending replacements. But I sold those. The Ryobi string trimmer heads are poorly made. However, the rest of their equipment is really good.

Good review, without a lot of filler. However, I do wish these review videos would address my two most important questions as I compare various models: 1. How much does it weight w/ or w/o battery. And 2. What is the real-world run time when trimming and cutting weeds? I mean, it's not like the average homeowner (not a pro landscaper) can run out and buy 2-3 more batteries at $150-ish each. If I'm cutting weeds, am I going to get 15 minutes? 45?

I switched to Ego a couple of months ago. My biggest complaint w/ Ego is the proprietary spindle design that doesnt allow any of my older "expand it" stuff to work. Other than that, pretty happy with it. Though I have some Ryobi gas stuff and I just might get the electric version of that :)

Would you mind doing a follow up showing you using both the edger and the rotary scissors for edging near the concrete sidewalk and for touching up around tree beds - both vertical for edging and horizontal for touching up the overhang areas by the curb and near borders that you can’t get the mower too.

Sir, may I ask where'd you get the full attachment? I see the link to the rotary scissors, but it only looks like the lower attachment and not complete attachment to include the rod. Thank you!

Hello. Thanks for the video. About how long does the 4 Ah battery last with normal use on an appropriate 3/4 yard? Just guessing. I have the 15" with 95W/2.6 Ah battery.
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider Жыл бұрын
I think a 4ah battery could probably complete a 7,000-8,000 sq ft lawn with the normal string head attachment.

The Rotary Scissors, does it come with the pole or how did you make that work?
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 2 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t come with the pole. It comes with just the head and some adapters. It is capable of fitting most string trimmers. You have to remove the current head and replace it with the rotary scissors.

Nothing like a Good bump head trimmer. I have an auto feed by Ryobi and it TOTALLY SUCKS. I couldn't get any support anywhere to work with me to correct the problem it still has. During warranty period I was told operator error was the problem. It is constantly breaking the line at the spool and or not feeding.This looks like a decent unit. Let us know how it works out. Would like to stick with this brand because of the 40v batteries I have. Thanks for the video.

I just bought this Ryobi you are showing and currently, only one end of the string is outside the hole, yet I cannot imagine I've used the pre-loaded amount of string in one day? How do I open the spool since I'm guessing the trimmer string is stuck inside, then needs to be refed?
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 2 жыл бұрын
Have you tried to line up the arrows on the head and the spool and see if you can just pull the string out? I believe you should be able to. Then you wouldn’t have to remove the spool housing.

Do you use the rotary scissors exclusively or the trimmer in combination?

how do you keep grass from growing in your beds?
@LawnInsider
@LawnInsider 2 жыл бұрын
I have sunken beds, so there is an elevation drop off. As long as you stay pretty vigilant with your trimming, it doesn’t grow so quickly down a ledge.

I see many people complaining about how hard it is to remove the attachments. Didn’t look too difficult here. Any reason why this is?
@LawnInsider

I’m not sure. It’s just the button notch that a lot of different pieces of equipment have. I definitely wouldn’t call it difficult.

Thanks for this video. Just bought one today and Ryobi has terrible, zero to none, on their "putting together" paperwork. It's page after page of safety info that people who have common sense don't need. Wish you would've shown the handle part. How to put that on lol.. It's like they sent the wrong one😅
