A further detail about keys and doors: This is been sparsely tested and you are free to check it out on your own, but did you know that you can stop a house alarm from triggering if you manage to get a hold of the key to the house that has the alarm? This can be done by either luring a zombie into the house or killing the zombie that's already in it for the house key without having you to enter said house (this is provided that you have the setting "zombies trip alarms" off).

Recently my son got into PZ, I've been playing on and off since January 2015. About two days ago when we were playing, I noticed the special thanks portion of the credits I'd never noticed it before and thought it was a really cool touch. It was then that my son mentioned that the two characters on the main screen are Kate and Baldspot, I knew who they were but he also said you can see the man eating the women when the lightning flashes, I never knew that, but he was right, if you slow it down you clearly see it. It's amazing that after 8 years and with over 1000 hours in game and I still find something new, my son was too young to play the game when it first came out, but now it's one of his favorites.

I was watching someone play the first release of project zomboid and I'd heard of the reason behind Kate and Baldspot (I saw the house when looking through the pz map project but I didn't know what it was referring to), was amazing seeing the original release and how much has changed, I was trying to match the house that exists on the map to the old version but it was really difficult, it's probably not the same map now.

The fact is, not enough people pay content creators and reactors enough credit. It is the perfect symbiotic relationship with independent, well, anything and content creators. The independent music scene has absolutely exploded because the artists realized just how important the reactor community and those creating content around their music actually are. This can be capitalized on within the independent gaming community, too, I believe.

I've probably racked up close to 500 hours playing PZ by now, and I only learnt the other day that if you take your shoes off, walking becomes more quiet. Also found out recently that if you're driving with the window down you can 'drop' items out of the car. So now I can crack open a can of spaghetti bolognaise, go for a drive and eat it on the way, and when I'm done just throw the empty can out the window.

It is extremely useful as its the only way that you can have locked doors INside a building. Very useful for playthroughs where zombies can open doors and youre staying inside a large building. I always mark buildings that I pick up keys for so I can go back and collect the doorknobs. Dont want to accidentally mix them with the regular doorknobs lol

I found this out ages ago by accident, I built a gate and noticed it says “lock” and it took me a few days to actually have it dawn on me that I’d picked a key off a zed and the doorknobs from the same place to build the gate .. I make sure I tell everyone I meet in servers and discord now because so many don’t know

The VHS Mother's Boy is a reference to Psycho. More specifically the stabbing in the shower scene, hence the XP gain into sharp weapons.

The fitness thing actually DOES make a difference in gains I noticed after level 5 or so, when I could do squats for 50 minutes before getting too exhausted, it cut down to like 30 or 40 minutes Thought that was a bug at first, because it sounds like my stamina went down instead of up Eventually I realised however, that my character finished a single squat faster than before, so they could do more squats in less time, therefore getting exhausted faster, since you gain exhaustion per squat, not per minute So basically, the higher your fitness, the more exp you gain per hour. You need to rest more often, as well, but it'll result in more exp per day in the end With how mind numbingly slow those skills level, it's obviously not very noticeable

To be fair, making it "modern" would absolutely break the games complete ... item list at least. :D Thousands of differently modded AR-15 style rifles in like every third house, perks where people "cannot shoot with this crap" unless you start with the veteran trait ... :D It would be such an amazing parody. :D It propably would have a very much different dynamic. The core features would still be the same but most of the stuff around and every story would be totally different ... Call modders to do that as soon as it has a few more features and NPCs. :D

Another tip I just figured out but is probably very well known already 😅 When driving (especially fast), roll the window down to allow yourself to pan the view like you're able to when in aim mode. With the window rolled up you are unable to pan the screen and locks it in place. If I can help at least one person, my job is done 😂

Most obscure thing in this game I know: There is a invisible "plant" container behind the post office/government office building in lickskillet. Just walk on the path behind the building and you will see it pop up in the loot menu. Good spot to hide loot in MP.

You can cook coffee in coffee machines for sure. My base always has one and makes it way easier to keep from burning my coffee and I just leave like 20 mugs in there warming 5hem up as I need them.

Another one which I find people always being surprised by; if you park by a fuel pump correctly you can refuel your car straight from the pump instead of putting fuel in a canister and putting it in the car that way 😂✨✨

Thats why I always use the mod that puts an arrow on the fuel indicator. I hated having to do loops to turn my car around every time I went to the pump lol But yeah, its weird that a lot of people dont know about that. Or that you can use the V button to bring up the car menu to use the pump. Too many people Ive seen trying to find the right spot to right click to get the option to show up lol

Yeah I use car mods and I was pleased when I discovered that some of the older cars actually have their gas tank fill point at the back bumper because in the sixties and seventies that's where most cars had them in the US. Although I have found that actually positioning the vehicle right at the pumps is a bit finicky at best. But that could be because I run about 50 mods in the game and it just makes things a bit weird at times.

3:00 this used to work. There are different types of stoves. For example, toasters only allow bread, coffee maker for beverages i believe. There was one coffee maker, i think the espresso/cappucino coffee maker, still had 40 capacity and accepted anything, also weighing only 4, but like I said, I don't think these work anymore.

The better exercise form does seem to help XP gain - because XP is awarded at the end of each repetition, and repetitions are completed faster with the better form and visible muscle strain

As someone who's lost significant amounts of work a couple of times (to hard drive crashes, not theft), if your last backups are 1 month old, you actually lose less than one month, because a lot of that time was spend deciding what to do and trying out ways of doing it. And that part is mostly backed up in your brain, in real time. So (assuming you can get the equipment itself up and running quickly) it actually takes less than one month to recover from the loss of one month of work.

Interesting, I didn't know about PAWS being a previous, unreleased project, but I'd always wondered what the backstory was for all the stuffed animals we found throughout the game. Now it makes sense. I remember the stolen laptops incident, I was playing the game during that time and it was released through the game news or something. As for Z Squad, I always figured it was a reference to the A Team since one of their tropes was a welding scene to up-armor a vehicle they would soon use in the episode. I am pretty sure it has to do with size. I think they made it so, for instance, shotguns can't be put in glove compartments anymore. Perhaps a bowl would fit?

Microwave is the best cooking gadget. 1- 0 skills 4 easy to carry low weight. 2- use less land on ur base like it can be placed over 2x crates. or can be walked over is not a baricate. 3- As Cooks faster with less power. 4- (Timer Setting works good) = if timer is good, turn on and forget. stops when finished dont burn the food. 4- Stops in case of getting items from and puting items in. Can help with preventing Brunt food. B.s.: i only use power for icecream fridge 2 prevent foods getting rotted. But we need alternative preveserving methots for food like. Salting, smoking & sun drying. These recepies can be made by sticks and or study stiks with carpt. lvl1 basic drying rags and can ben dried. Just simmilar 2 other games like "The Forest".

I had no earthly idea that having spoons and forks would change the eating animations, but at the same time I'm actually not that surprised that it does! I know how much a loss of data can impact productivity. I lost about a month of work on my DnD world, and it just happened to be a month where i had been picking up speed, with lots of inspiration happening. Not weird but a cool tip is during the summer make sure to have your AC on in your car, because since it is sitting outside in the heat the internal temperature is drastically hotter and will cause some moodles to appear

If you have a shovel you can make a grave and bury bodies that way, instead of burning them. With high enough carpentry, you can make a wooden coffin and a cross. You can fish and its great to have a base by a freshwater lake or pond. Watch for twine and find the right magazine, and you can set up a net to catch baitfish. This might all be common knowledge though

This is rather esoteric, but building a wall today I couldn't get my character to build from the correct side of the wall, he'd always want to jump through the frame and start from the other side. I was messing around and wondering how to google this when I rotated the build position and while that didn't visibly change anything my dude built the wall from the desired side. Dunno if this was just me being dense but there you go.

I haven't played in over about a year so not sure if they patched this. If you build a camp fire then destroy the camp fire with a sledge hammer. The fire will remain burning forever. I don't think you can cook with it, but it will light and heat an area as far as I remember. You can then build another camp fire over the flame to put it out. I used this to build torches to light the outside of my camp on one server.

If you got perks that give +(x) to skill it would give xp% boost i.e. Nimble +1 = 75% xp gain, Nimble +2 = 125% xp gain. You can "pick up" curtains with the icon bar on the left side of your screen to keep the color and looks of that curtain, but heard it weights more. Fighting zoms when they climb over a fence/window can be dangerous when they scratch at you, so you can put a furniture right by the window and it makes them crawl. Fitness is harder to level then Strength as Fitness mainly uses running and exercise to level, not to mention you will have a car (personal experience).

i bought this game in 2014 and until about a month ago i had 3 hours played according to steam. every time i started to play it, i just got overwhelmed with everything and never stuck to it. so i listened to the dawn of the dead audiobook (romero wrote a novel version. it's one of the few books i've read/listened to multiple times. i'm so happy he decided to novelize dawn of the dead.) last month and it made me wanna survive a zombie apocalypse BAD, so instead of going to state of decay like i always do when the feeling hits i decided to stick to project zomboid. i've got 60 hours played now. the new zelda is out on friday and i'm definitely going to get it because i've been looking forward to it for SO LONG but...i can see myself not completely ditching zomboid. jesus what an amazing game.

You mentioned the panic you can get from some TV broadcasts. There is one that I experienced where it was an ad for a talking teddybear like a push talk doll. When the teddybesr is made to talk, your character gets full panic. I've tried to look it up to see if what I experienced was normal but nobody else seems to have asked about it either. This makes me believe the character we play as is stupid or something as he gets panicked over a talking teddybear toy

But then only misfortunes happened to me, I tried to get into a house, the door was closed, but the window was not, so I opened it and the alarm went off, I didn't know where to go. What a normal person would do is go as far away from there, but I had the wonderful idea of ​​sitting (because my character was exhausted) on the side of the street where the house was. You can already guess how it ended, a zombie came out of my back, injured my head (I don't know if it was a scratch or a bite), then two came, he was bitten twice. I was too tired to face them, but I was able to finish it, I was alarmed since I didn't know how to close the wounds. I swear I would be desperate. Anyway, in the end I was able to stop the bleeding, and I decided to get into a car, to rest and sleep, but I didn't know what the key was, so I unconsciously hit the car horn for 2 seconds, and well, I ended up bitten 2 more times, by the time it was over, it was already daylight, I was sleepy, everything hurt, bleeding just bandaged, broken weapon, a lot of weight due to scraps of cloth, etc. I was able to sleep in the car, the wounds healed, except for the head and I was nauseated. And well, I looked for how to get rid of the dizziness, but they told me that if it was from a bite I am condemned to die. So what am I left to do since I'm going to die?

Bites are always fatal, but you have a day or so to put things in order. If you die and respawn in the same save, you share a world with your previous, doomed self, so you can go find yourself, show them a form of mercy and recover your lost items. :)

Anytime you see a guard tower and don't have tools to get in go to the top of the stairs turn around walk down 1 step, look at the wall of the guard tower and you can vault in through the walls....need to escape? Smash a window and vault back out. Also nail guns and their magazines could as a ranged weapon and help train aiming and reloading without using a firearm

Though the bit of them still showing up at a developer conference with "How NOT to make a video game" and them telling their story and lessons learned from the theft was a bit funny if tragic.
