John B. Allen, aka MrBallen is a former Navy SEAL turned content creator. Ballen went viral on Tik Tok and KZbin in 2020 with his unique "true crime" videos that brought a fresh sense of storytelling and narrative to social media. His podcasts Strange, Dark and Mysterious Stories and MrBallen’s Medical Mysteries topped the charts with millions of views and subscribers. Allen co-founded Elite Meet, a network focused organization that provides support to transitioning elite Veterans and an "unmatched talent pool to corporate partners." Today, Allen continues to produce content while helping other creators grow via Ballen Studios, a new venture that offers management and development services for budding content creators.

Shout out to you for a very candid, honest and self deprecating interview man. Ive rocked with you since you were in the 5 figure sub count and always appreciated the content, but hearing your honest opinion of your own shortcomings in every stage of your life story was absolutely admirable and is a credit to you and your character. It helps people like me set my aspirations a bit higher hearing about the struggles behind the success. Wishing you all the best brother.

Mr Ballen I know most of your videos, or all of your videos, atleast what I’ve seen as of a year ago (I did fall off with KZbin for a bit) were about people dying in the end. While I do enjoy your stories regardless of content, I was wondering if you could, or already have made some content where the person survives in the end. It was actually a family member that I got hooked on your videos and they are the one who made that point and it had me thinking 🤔..Have a good week man

Out of all content creators, i genuinely believe he is the most sincere and heart felt person on the platform. The fact that he was incredibly transparent about his deployment and his time during service is a good indicator. He wasn't talking about the entire experience like he was a walking talking badass. He was extremely relatable throughout the interview. A genuinely good dude who served for his country and got shat on by his own ''brothers'' for being successful. It's a shame. Your channel is an absolute gold mine.

@@MrBallen Hey John, Thank you for serving for those who can't. If there's any way I can help your charity from a home office, I'm stuck here with sucky kidneys, but I'm trying to find a way to support our troops or veterans from home. It doesn't really matter what you need, I can read emails, I'll keep a calendar, data entry, event planning. I don't need a penny, and while I'm happy to be in the spotlight I don't need my face ever seen or voice ever heard. I'm sorry I don't have money, I know that's so much better and easier. If nothing else, God bless, thank you for your service, and thank you for providing so much entertainment while I was so sick and in and out of hospitals.

The aftermath of these men and women coming from our armed forces or military support or whatever, deserve our gratitude and they all need to know that people care about them and it's OK if they need some help or someone to listen to them. My step-dad took his uniform off befor he came back to the states after Vietnam because of the way service men/women were being treated. Thankfully times have changed and we treat our Vetrans the way they deserve to be treated, as brave men/women that they are.

I don’t understand the Mr. B hate at all….unless we’re talking about the like button lol. That dude has a legit reason for hating him. But seriously, compared to a lot of other seals, who try to project the “look at me, I’m such a badass” vibe, Mr. B is one of the most humble I’ve seen about it. I don’t understand how anyone could not respect that…sure he’s not Jocko, he’s not Don Shipley, but he doesn’t try to be. He’s just Mr. Ballen. And a hell of a good guy, at that.

Hi, I’m a woman in her 20s and I’m training to become a U.S. Navy SEAL. What advice would you give for women that want to be SEALs? If you had to go to BUD/S again, how would you prepare differently? What books or workout programs would you recommend? Most female SEAL candidates struggle with carrying the boats and logs, doing pull ups, having grip strength and completing the “Dirty Name” on the obstacle course. Also, a lot of female SEAL candidates break their legs or develop stress fractures. A woman made it to day 4 of BUD/S first phase recently but she quit on that day. That’s the farthest a woman has made it. Her BUD/S classmates told me that her class hated her and ran her out from under the boat because she was a boat ducker. Nine women have entered the SEAL pipeline since 2016.

I'm a huge Jordan Peterson fan so I watched it, and it was brilliant. I'm also a MrBallen subscriber so when this one popped up, it was a no brainer and the four hours went by like it was 30 minutes. I'm definitely subscribing to SRS now. The Navy SEAL stuff is inspiring. I see them depicted in movies and I always thought they were cool but to hear about them straight from the horse’s mouth gave me a very clear perspective and new level of respect for servicemen and women all around the world. Been following Mr Ballen for years listening to his stories. I knew he was a navy seal. But I had no idea of the PTSD he suffers daily. He , unlike other of your guests seems more relatable to the average person. Most of the guys you have on are obviously built for this kind of stressful lifestyle. While Jhon seems more like the average guy who made it through. And the lifestyle is obviously tougher and more mentally challenging than the average tough guy can handle. The mentality you have to have to do this job, it really does take a special kind of individual that can maintain sanity out in the civilian world.

@@spendy3547It's not that you can't vent but just the kids aren't appropriate to vent to. I was on the end that got trashed going through my divorce. It has been 13 yrs, & both my daughters won't even speak or text with me. It's as if I died, to them. My husband filed for divorce because he was tired of dealing with my serious health issues. I was diagnosed with unretractable Fibromyalgia after the birth of my second child. I thought I was managing my constant pain as well as I could, while fully being the mother my girls needed. The 3 of us were very close. But, my husband won full custody (when one was in junior high, & the other a sophomore in high school) due to my health issues. I got weekends, but teens want to hang out with their friends on weekends. So I only got Saturday night dinner & a movie. The damage became obvious, as my husband used the whole "protector" mode to shield them from their sick mother. He lied to them about all kinds of things, turning me into an abusive mother (which I was not!). He essentially blew up our family, without any warning, having divorce papers served to me in our house, while he was at work. I was in shock! He chose the litigation route, forcing me to have to pay for an attorney over two yrs time. It bankrupted me - in every way, & today it still feels like my family died in a car crash. It feels like my daughter's died, & my husband, as well. Even my sweet dog! The loss was so immediate. I could have a relationship with my girls, if my husband hadn't used them to spew utter fiction about their mother. I have tried every way possible to contact them, & am blocked, canceled, changed all contact info, etc. They clearly want nothing to do with me, & I don't know why. They are in their early 30's now, & very successful. Everyone told me they would eventually come around. It's been 13 years! The hole in my heart can never heal, now.😭😢

I dated a young guy who was in active war. He was in Desert Storm. He was 24 when he came home from combat. He was really, really messed up. He had nightmares and would wake up screaming. He told me about going into homes and the people there were dead, but they were mummified in the place where they died. For example, he saw a family that was still seated at the table. The father was in the process of putting a spoonful in his mouth and died. He told me stories of the drugs there that are not drugs in the US too . I haven't seen him in a while, but I hope he's doing much better. People who fought in war have a hard time readjusting when they come back home.

I completely agree. He's similar to Joe Rogan in that way. They pick a topic, and instead of the host doing most of the speaking, they let the guest tell their stories from the reason they were there to talk about

You don't always know "what you want to be when you grow up" by the time you graduate high school. The fact that you became a SEAL was amazing! But it was only a part of your incredible life journey. I absolutely love your YT/podcasts/charities/interviews etc. BUT I am most impressed by your unflinching "warts and all" story of your life thus far. You're a good soldier, a good story teller, a good husband and a good dad. You are... A good man. No one could aspire to be any more. Please remember that for the rest of your long, amazing life.

I remember when Mr. Ballen hit 100k subs. Never did I think he would attain so much, so fast. When I didn't think his content couldn't get any better, he brings on Bedtime Stories to his studio. He seems to be a stand up guy and deserves all the success.

Thank you so very much for this opportunity to get a real understanding of one of my favorite tubers! I am a mother of 10. 9 boys and 1 girl. 7 of my boys have served. It's been a real rollercoaster for me as a mom but seeing stuff like this helps me know that I am truly in the right place to support my boys! I'll continue to pray for both of you young men and your family's. Keep doing what you are doing because you are helping in ways you know nothing about. Thanks again and blessings to you and your families.

@@MrBallen thank you. Truly, a lot of kids! Although, I must say that I only stayed on this side of crazy because of the grace and love of my Lord! Never even close to being perfect, but because of Him, I ended up with some pretty amazing people in my life. All of them are grown and doing reasonably well and for that I'm grateful! Thank you again for your service and your kindness in sharing!

Wonderful episode! First became a follower of John's when David Paulides mentioned his name during one of his Missing 411 episodes; John was always gracious in promoting Paulides's work and properly citing his books, rather than many others who merely borrow a story and make it seem it's theirs. Integrity and mastery = John Allen :) Great interview!

I’ve never watched a more vulnerable interview from a SF guy. The fact he went into depth about his mental health. His failures in selection, his embarrassing behavior, that humbled him. And to admit “I wasn’t cut out for this job” is insane to me. Bravo 👏🏼 inspiring us to be real with ourselves like you had to be @mrballen respect 🫡

What’s critical is how he goes “You may not know this, BUT…” he’s willing to spend the time directing the story to the person who is out of the loop. That is what makes all the difference.
