I like the tip about the weapon load out. I was on the grizzly hunting mission and the guy called me over and told me to start tracking and bait the bear and I had to run back to my horse. But I think I'm either DONE with this game or I'm going to start over because I've had too much bullshit this early on. I killed the legendary grizzly and then I stopped to investigate some wild horses and I saw a dog, except it wasn't a dog, it was a wolf... and before I could leave or kill it, a 2nd wolf jumped on me from behind. And just now I shot a 3 star boar and then picked up an injured guy and was taking him to the doctor... I saw a huge snapping turtle and pointed my gun at it and another guy on the trail just started shooting at me and I died again. I wasn't even pointing the gun at him. I hadn't even fired. People are way too trigger happy. I'm really not enjoying my play time on this game because of everything going wrong constantly. But I really don't know if I can sit through the opening chapter again.

just a tip you can actually push the fish into the shoreline in rivers and such, i catch gar to feed the camp that way, all fish caught this way are 3 star, easy way to catch the smaller fish for your compendium

bro, last night i was on my way to get the viking gear, and noticed a camp down a path (not far from where you get the viking gear). Decided to see what's up, and found a group of 4-5 of the crazy, cannibal NPC's (cant remember what they're called). Killed them all, but noticed there were still more somewhere. Waited a minute, and a few more ran up from a cave in the back. Killed them, waited another minute. More came. Then more came. Then more came. After I killed everyone, got a notification for killing a whole gang. The cave was pretty big, found some money and things. Didn't notice any unique items, but had never encountered that many hostile NPC's before. Definitely one of the more exciting battles so far. Then started making my way back up the main road for the Viking gear, and these crazy assholes rolled a flaming wagon out of the woods and jumped me. Killed one, but then got axed in the face and died. WTFFFFFF

If you’re hunting Legendary animals then I’d use a Springfield rifle over a bow. I use the Springfield with Express bullets on big animals and Legendary ones and it’s always a one shot kill to the head getting perfect kills.

if you study animals, you can find out the best weapon for them. alligators with a sniper rifle, small snakes with small game arrows etc. Most medium sized animals are best taken care of with Springfield rifle.

At first I thought some random encounters, like the guy trying to shoe his horse that ends up getting kicked to death, were just "shows" that you could stand there and watch. Turns out you can actually interact and change the outcome. The next time I got that event I greeted the guy and he stopped trying to shoe the horse to talk to me, and that made the horse run away and turned it into a "please fetch me my horse" event.

Be careful while waiting for the morning in front of shops if you are carrying a pelt, it will disapear. For the secondary horse to carry things, do not enter stables or it will be stuck in pension and you cannot go out with two horses, you need to pick one. For fishing, you can catch fishes alive by hand when they are near the shore. Scary them from the water and collect.

when you are inside a house press both thumbs ticks (the tracking mode) it will highlight all items that you can pick up and interact with. it will make looting houses much easier. Also when hunting; if you're tracking the animal you can press R1 for more info.. in there it will tell you which gun and sometimes what ammo to use for a clean kill. you can spend all your money, walk into the police office.. hold l2 to target the sherif then antagonise him. as soon as he points his gun on you you can use triangle to surrender.. you go to jail for a real short time and then all your bounties are cleared *warning you lose all the money you have on you*. edit the bounty in that area is cleared not all bounties.

Another tip if you ever see a bald eagle and watch it in flight you can sometimes watch them catch prey if you are quick on the draw take them out you get A2 for 1 and usually the Pelt of whatever the eagle was picking up is in good condition or better

Here's a tip I have learned on my own. With the Springfield scope attachment. Large game if you hit them in chest on their sides or in the front. Plus with the scope you can see what game to hunt is better and what they drop.

If you're grossed out by skinning an animal, or by the killcams, then you shouldn't be playing a wild west game that involves guns. Really the worst thing about Gore is smelling the blood and guts, anyway. Also, I found the blind guy out in, I think the Heartland somewhere. The first time he didn't want anything to do with me because of my little honor so I killed him and he had a few cents on him, something else, and a bottle of moonshine. Second time I came across him after I restarted the save file, I killed him after he cowered when I murdered somebody, and he had something else on him, although I can't recall. If you give him a dollar, he will tell you about your psyche. He told me that I was a very confused individual, more or less. Also, the woman in Cumberland Forest with the dead horse, the horse has something different in its saddlebag each time. If you rob the woman, you only get a few cents, but if you take her home to Emerald Ranch, she will give you a ring. I find this odd because if you rob her, the ring does not appear, but if it's on her person you should get everything on somebody you are robbing, at least I think so. Wouldn't that make more sense?

You can also hold two smaller animals on the side of your horse when you have a large pelt on your horse. So 3 animals per horse

Number 1 is a lie. I equipped Lancaster to my shoulder and varmint to my back at the gun Smith. Walked out the door, got on the horse, then got off the horse and varmint rifle is no longer equipped.

This is just for the people that might not already know. (For big game) Instead of using a bow to hunt you can use any high powered rifle or an improved rifling, long barrel, double barrel shotgun with a slug, as long as you take it down with one headshot it doesn’t damage the pelt. (For small game) Just use the varmint rifle, so much easier then the bow and it also doesn’t damage the pelt. Just trying to help some people out that might not know already.

Here’s a doozie! If you’re out hunting those perfect pelts, whip out your binoculars and look at the animals - in the bottom right corner you will see what grade animal it is 1-3 stars. Shoot them in the head with precision bullets from a rifle to get those sweet pelts! Identifying them isn't the hard part, It's killing them without reducing it to 2 stars. What usually happens to me is that I shoot them IN THE HEAD and they survive and run away, then I chase them but can never catch up to them.

You can almost always tell the legit people in need vs the ones just trying to rob you. It's more art than science really, but the legit ones actually sound more in need, and the fake ones don't actually sound like they're in distress. Cool little detail I've noticed.

When I first killed the legendary bear I went looking for a trapper in valentine(I just started playing so I thought anyone could make it into an outfit) and I ran into a guy. He said “ please donate to the children. It’s better to give then get.” And started beating me up. His buddy then came and I blew there heads off with my sawed off shotgun. The cops came and killed me and I lost the pelt

Here is something you can try. Get a legendary pelt, stow on your horse, Turn off auto save, Save your game then immediately load that save. When you spawn back in a notification will pop up saying you lost your pelt and is at the trapper, when in fact it's still on your horse. Go to the trapper you will see he has it, Buy the item that goes with the pelt. Then remove the pelt from your horse and then stow it again it will say you have the legendary pelt again. Weird. Another Tip Double tap L1 or LB or whatever the button is for you to put away your weapon and Arthur will spin his gun before Holstering his weapon.

Finished the main story today. I'm still learning new stuff. I just loaded up my 15% complete manual save file and started it again from there. Time to play it the slow way it was meant to be played. When traveling from place to place experiment with cinematic camera mode. As long as you have a waypoint and you are on the path hands-free travel is about 95% accurate and a much easier way to travel from place to place. I also use this when traveling with gangs in missions although you have to actively hold the x button most times you are with other people and not specifically alone.

For PS4 R1 + X and either left or right directional will do a sliding turn. Tap R1 then hold R1 will walk in reverse on horse. Tap square twice and then hold will do a dance. You can also strafe...I think its tap R1 then hit square and direction you want to strafe.

I discovered a useful tip that isn't mentioned. It doesn't harm your honor if you hogtie people. Once they're hogtied you can steal their stuff and it also doesn't make you lose honor points. They also can't report a crime while hogtied. Do this to people camping in the woods. There's no negative affect. But don't loot them. Doing so will give negative honor points

You do realize that’s not how loadouts work? The way they designed it is so you choose what you want from before you get off your horse each time. It takes two seconds and that way you don’t have to worry about “loadouts.” Your horse automatically has all of your weapons on it. You shouldn’t make a tip video if you haven’t got far enough into the game to have figured that out lol.

Your first tip about the gunsmith and always having particular weapons on foot didn't work permanently for me. I did it twice and both times after sleeping or fast travel, it resets itself and I end up having to repeat the process. I also noticed that I can only have 2 outfits stored on my horse - the one I'm wearing, another different one, and in the third slot is a duplicate of the one I'm wearing. All this despite specifying which outfits and equipping 3 unique ones. I dunno why it does either of these things, but it's broken. I also lost my legendary bison pelt off my horse every time I fast travelled.

#1 is proven to be wrong as it's now known to be bugged or something in that it STILL doesn't stay. You will eventually still jump onto your horse and get off and not have any longarms equipped. You also can't select bows at the gunshop as it only allows you to select items that can be customized.
