There are other horse tricks if you hold R1 and come to a complete stop and tap square it rears up on its back legs. If you hit R1 and X at the same time when your horse has enough speed it will do slides around corners, a 180 slide or a slide to a stop depending on directional input.

Idk if anyone has mentioned this little detail, but depending on your bonding level with your horse, Arthur will say different things while you pet it. So bonding level 1 he'll say pretty generic and not "as loving" phrases. At level 4, he has a lot of emotion and care into his phrases.

I tried once. Landed on the horse hitched next to mine, then quickly got off. Witness pops up for theft even though I'm no longer on said horse. I frantically try to talk to the witness but I'm next door to the sheriff. Instantly the sheriff and two deputies begin shooting me. $20 bounty I open weapon wheel and select fist in hopes of talking my way out. Now with fist selected I hit left trigger. Gun instantly aimed at sheriff. I let them kill me in hopes of losing the bounty. I die, and still have said bounty. 2/10 do not recommend jumping on horse.

Instead of slowing your horse while in an intense sprint or a race, simply calm your horse when it starts to get frustrated, around 5% stamina left. Depending on your bond with the horse, it will regain a decent chunk of stamina. This can be done multiple times on the same ride whithin reason, very useful for the strawberry to St.Denis as well as the Van Horn to Blackwater dry runs.

With a level 3 bond you learn the skid technique. It's extremely useful for performing a quick 180 degree turn. I've found it useful when you're forced to turn and fight the law. If they're gaining on you and it's clear they will overtake you. I run over a hill or into a wooded areas skid while holding left or right and have my weapon ready for them when the come over the hill. It's also useful when chasing game to hunt from horseback.

But once while I was trying to be ingenious and I found band with 4 horses and I wanted to take them all so I put my saddle to each one after another, and in the moment I reach the second, my main horse just turn away and behaved like wild one. Like he directly quit job so I used to treat him like we never had relation to take him back and than automatically the next one did the same and ran. So I think the game doesn't allow to have more than 3. I put my saddle on the second, the main follow me with the second while I ride the third

@@connor1.j you can buy from the stables or take from the wild. Have you did the mission with Hosea where he brings you to the stables in Valentine? Make sure you did. And I would suggest you to take a wild horse. When you inspect them for Info you will see their abilities. Search for strongest, with the moving on the game forward you'll find better and better ones. Nokota is very very good one. When you see a wild horse you have to be veery patient and slow, first calming it, than try to pat him. You will see in top left corner inscription that you can mount it. When you do hold the L button on opposite directions yo the horse moves. In some point after 30-40 seconds - its yours. The best is to put the saddle on it, than he will definitely follow you when you call.

Love your videos on RDR2! Wanted to warn you that your horse will still run into a stand of trees without touching the L stick. I was testing out the autopilot through trees and my horse crashed into a grouping of 4 trees close together. I'm a horse person irl and was really happy to hear that they added that feature into the game. They should have taken it further to other horses, carriages, buildings, cliffs, etc. A lot of people think that you need to constantly guide a horse with every step but horses are prey animals and they won't even come close to running someone over without being in fight/flight mode let alone into buildings, animals, etc. (Though there are the few that learn their size and learn to push people around with their weight but that's rare and usually stems from spoiling or abuse).

I've noticed something else, it works depending on what horse your on. When I let my main horse (dun mustang) guide itself through the trees I never hit into anything, but when I try the same on my brindled thoroughbred the thing crashes and burns almost every time. I think that the ability of the horse off road depends on the stature of the breed, mustangs are smaller and sure footed while the thoroughbreds are huge and awkward, and it might be making a difference in game just like it would in real life. same I'm a horse person irl.

One of my favorite things to do in RDR1 was leave my room from the balcony of the saloon in Armadillo and jump unto my horse below. side note: Just from my experience letting the horse auto correct for you is a bad idea unless you are going really slow, in that case it does help, but otherwise a lot of the time the horse will dodge one thing only to smack into something else. You'll still run into things when you control it yourself but I've found it's still the best way

3 horses at once nearly always causes the game to glitch out...whether the horse is bonded or not. I've noticed the set up camp option goes away, and the 3rd horse will often disappear. Game saves are also disabled because it gets caught in a glitch. This has been my experience 100% of the time when trying to hunt or do anything with 2 or more extra horses. In order to restore game saves and wilderness camping, you have to kill yourself or close/reopen the game and lose progress. The game seems to only allow a saddled horse and 1 temporary horse. If you regularly take your horse to a stable and pay for the $5 horse service, the horse's weight will remain "fit" and they will walk out with golden health and stamina scores. You have to put serious effort into killing an Arabian if you follow that horse care method.

Be careful when using 3 horses because the game will eventually delete the oldest temporary horse. It will keep the newest one regardless of bonding level. On the other hand I don't know why I never thought to brush my horse while riding. I feel silly. But I have lept onto my horse in a couple situations from a tall object. Strafing/Sidepassing while at full speed is amazing for gunfights or dodging wolves and uses up less stamina than drifting(I use actual drifting for when I need to whip around really fast). Someone mentioned to me once that they made their horse rear up and kick something in the head when they got charged. I haven found an instance this worked for me yet, but they do ride a draft horse.

Pressing L3 (PS4) while on horseback lets you pat/calm horse at any speed. Feeding or brushing horse while riding can only be done at a slow trot or at standstill. At a fast gallop you can can only pat/calm.

One really big tip I have is set a GPS location, then switch to cinematic mode and just hold the A button or X button and you'll go straight to the destination without having to navigate around trees or rocks or people.

In "MY" experience, the horse will "Usually" dodge around trees,rocks, etc. Key Word, "Usually" Also, when taking a large pelt(example "Bison")off overnight, sometimes, in the morning the pelt was gone.

If u use 3 horses you’d have to use the horse that’s not your main or your temporary horse, otherwise that 3rd horse with no icon on the map will just stay there . Also if u use that 3rd horse for to long you’ll start bond with it , so your temporary horse will stop following you so you can only ride the “non icon” horse when riding 3.

So I had three horse yesterday, spent hours searching for them. A mustang and a blue roan nokota plus a white town nokota I had as my main. All 3 packed with pelts. I ran into a white question mark and immediately regretted it because I did not save before it started. Anyways, after completion of the side mission I only had two of my horses. The game didn’t allow me to keep the 3rd and it’s cargo. So just be mindful. If you want to keep the horses and pelts , get to a stable ASAP before playing any side missions

Ya it’s pretty easy actually, so 1.) find a horse you want to tame. Tame it and bond with it till at least lvl 1 ( so it doesn’t run away) 2.) find another horse you want and tame it as well 3) this is the key to keeping them all, make sure you put your saddle on the 1st new horse of the 2 and a large pelt on your original horse. Then ride your third with no saddle back to stable or camp of you want to keep them all. Tips: always look back to make sure they are all still following you. Constantly whistle at them and don’t do any side missions till you stable them. Best way to tame is to find a horse with binoculars. Get off of your horse and slowly walk towards till you can call them. Once you can call them, hold l2 or LTrigger and just keep spamming X or Square (calm button) this way they will never get spooked and you can easily mount the horse. Now if they get away from you, that’s on you lol but it’s pretty easy to control them while they are bucking. Just hold down on left stick and flick right stick to opposite direction they are leaning. Hope that helps I’m off to find the tiger bay mustang! Lol

The Big Bient this is true. I've lost many pelts by completing missions. Also, if your horse is nearby your calmed wild one, take the saddle off your horse and walk up to the wild one til it prompts you to "saddle up" (up d-pad ). You will go into a small cutscene of you throwing on your saddle. Mount as normal and there won't be that bucking game as it should be instantly level one bond.

Horse revivers saved my horse. I was minding my own business when i came across the strangers with the dynamite. I rode over to them, not knowing that it was them. The TNT exploded, killing the 2 NPC's and almost me. I noticed that Buell was critically injured. I was happy i was alive because if i died, i would have lost Buell. The only way I've found to upgrade speed and the acceleration of your horse is by Galloping the whole time during a race against the NPC if you slow up once it wont upgrade either.

Blaze Tokin if i remember correctly, I believe that's a one time only 10% increase in top speed and not in effect for subsequent races. You can give your horse a 2 bar increase in speed and a 1 bar increase in acceleration by equipping the upgraded hooded stirrups. This won't be reflected in your horse info menu, but will be reflected when looking at your horse in a stable. Another hidden stat in effect is a 50% reduction in your horse's health core drain rate when equipped with the top end vaquero saddle.

That’s cus the game auto saves. Now if you don’t want to burn time in the game world, setting up a camp is fine. There are times when this won’t work. I have been to some locations, (didn’t know I was right next to the Brood’s hideout) that won’t let you set up your camp for one reason or another. That is a good time to do the save and reload trick

Horse death isn't permanent here's why: I was headed towards a mission not taking the roads and then i ended up falling down the cliff. I didnt have any horse revivers so i put it out of its misery. Then i was running and encountered a horse and it kicked me and i died due to how low my health was. But since it didnt save, a horse was right next to me. Sometimes it isnt the same horse but it always has your weapons and stuff.

If your horse is criticallly damage you can revive it by a cutscene or by dying

you dont need to save and load to get ur horse back if its stuck or lost. u just have to set camp and the horse appears.

I had a question I got that white horse up north in the snow it had pretty full health and stamina more than three quarters of the way I didn't save the game so when I went back to get it again the health and stamina were a lot lower then the first one is that common they spawn different

You can bond your horse faster if you clean it feed it and pet it in that order and then you repeat it again
