We are not allowed now and not even during my time, to change CCAs on a whim. I was not allowed to do so in secondary school. We were drafted into uniform groups. School told us we get graded on CCA as well. I got a A2 for CCA at end of sec 4. I switched CCA at sec 2 and made president at sec 3 because I switched to a CCA I had passion for but didn’t get to join in sec 1. PRESIDENT ALSO ONLY A2, why? I lost out on attendance points for not being in the CCA at sec 1. Also, I only got to switch because of GOOD GRADES (CCA day clashed with my MOELC classes in sec 2). *rolls eyes* My girl’s primary school NOW also don’t allow. School’s rationale for balloting into CCA was limited spaces, which is valid because everyone trying to get into certain CCAs that had track record for DSA. DSA likely also meant the school likely think staying in same CCA benefits the kids. Last time at least I was allowed to change CCA every year in primary school. We still have some ways to go😢 Why CCA also like exams now.

Knowledge is more important than Grades.
@Jinkypigs3 жыл бұрын
Grades are nonetheless a proxy for one's knowledge, self discipline, perseverance, work ethics and more, up to one or two years after you got the grade. And if you get a series of bad grades, one's has to wonder about your passion, dedication, work ethics, knowledge and more. And that is why grades is an important door opening for fresh graduates, unless you have already made a name for yourself in the chosen field. But 10 years down the road? Grades won't be much of a predictor by then.

most important is playing politics - leveraging what you have, and what your competitor does not have. this is where your grades or lack thereof matters...

In my years of working experience hor MBA staffs also report to me lor! Govt telling us that good working / career experience but cannot qualify to teach and share real experience to poly students!!! Kana Sai ! Drive Grab after retrenchment lor!

All jobs got minimum requirements what. Go and study and get that degree lah. Your years of working experience with MBA staff reporting to you, and your diploma should be a good starting point to get a degree. Somemore got courses out there that are heavily subsidized by Skillsfuture.

I think we just try our best to "get in the door" first. High grades does not mean success. Low grades does not mean failure. But we hope for our kids is that, they have choices. That they will have many doors to choose from. And the discipline and attitude that comes with trying to get good grades. I don't believe in comparison to others. Each is different. But compare within yourself. What you can achieve versus what you achieved, and find out what caused the difference. If you can get a B but you got a fail, then it is something to reflect on. If you try your best and a pass is already above expectations, then it is celebration time. But that is only if it is the best you tried and not a slipshod attempt. Parents trying to make their kids get good grades is a very 1 dimension simplistic talk. There is often more behind that.
