I remember when I learned just how popular it became. I was woken up by it being blasted on the speakers of a laptop. I'm thinking "why is Megalovania of all things being played right now?" It was Cheeze's video of the compilation of all 3 versions combined. "This song is everywhere!" I was told. My thought was, yeah. Of course it is. There's a giant fandom of the webcomic it's from and we're notorious for quite a lot of things. But if we want to play a Homestuck song, why Megalovania and not Doctor, Savior, Sburban Jungle, Cascade, Showtime, anything beginning with "Heir", why this one? And then I went to school that day and found half of both my classes who were now into Undertale, constantly making reference to that song in particular. It was so strange, but so great. And now the Pope has heard it.

I find this video incredible on so many levels. For one, Toby's improv-ing on Megalovania, which I find pretty damn awesome. It's also a fantastic example of how art inspires other art. Two great musicians are collaborating just for the hell of it. Undertale music played live before the game came out (I'm not talking about Megalovania, and I do know it was demo'd earlier that day. I still find it awesome, though). Jit playing an entirely piano version of Olive Rogue. I'd never really heard it until this video, but while I like the original version, I do hope to see a full piano cover of Olive Rogue, with studio quality. It's a wonderful moment in geek history that we can enjoy.
