The ONLY upgrade I did to my Glock 19 was to add XS Big Dot Night Sights. Ameriglow are also good sights at a lower price. It still runs flawlessly after all these years. I shoot it accurately as well. It fits my hand. I recently found an almost new gen4 Green G19. I bought it because it was green. I like green. I still drive my old 2002 Chevy Silverado. I recently gave it an overhaul of the suspension, breaks, body work, and paint. The engine and transmission are still just fine. When they need help, they will get it and we will keep on rolling. My everyday pocket knife is a Case Sod Buster, full size. The blade is getting smaller, noticeably, due to constant sharpening. It gets used ALL the time, doubles as a skinning knife as well. It is at least 15yrs old. Some day, I will be forced to replace it, but not yet. I am not opposed to new things. I get them only when NEEDED, mostly. I have an old Remington 700 BDL 30-06 that is quite aged. It is accurate, I know that gun, my load, and my capabilities. It puts wild hog meat in the freezer. I don't need a new one. My new guns are 4 AR-15 rifles I bought for my wife and myself, so we have one primary, and one for in case it is needed. Firearms are tools to me. If they work absolutely fine, they do not get retired. Guns that I cannot like or stand, well, they get sold and move to a new home for someone else's love. Everyone has their own motivations, likes, dislikes, needs, etc. Life is short. Make it count.

Our side arms came equipped with Trijicon night sights from the factory along with extended slide releases, I upgraded mines with Trijicon HD night sights. In 2017 our Department told us that for some reason all of the G19s with a serial #prefix of FUFxxx were being replaced, I was issued a new Gen 3 G19, I was able to purchase my previous G19 for $300 which I jumped on. I carried my new G19 up until I retired in 2022 after a 33 yr career, I bought that G19 for fair market value of $250 !!! Being retired I find myself carrying either a G19 or G26 mainly, sometimes if I'm dressed up I'll a M&P Shield Plus since it's a lil more streamlined. I'm basically a Diehard Glock purist but I fell in love with the Polymer 80 frames due to the ergonomics, so I'll occasionally throw in a PFc9, IMHO G19 is the way to go !!!

Until I went to that course you could not have given me a free Glock. I bought one after the course and have owned no less that 6 since then. BTW, I carry a Glock 19 concealed today. I have only owned Glocks, and have owned literally every model of Glock in every caliber over the last 20 years. I carried a Glock 26 for about 4 years and a Glock 19 for about 10 years. For the first time a few years ago, I purchased a non Glock firearm. It was a Ruger LCP Max. I didn't trust it. So I ran 500 rounds of FMJ through it, and 100 rounds of Hornady XTPs through it. I didn't have a single malfunction. After that, I trusted it. It weighs only 15 ounces fully loaded with 13 rounds. It is SOOO much nicer to carry than my Glock 26. You don't realize how big of a difference it is until you do it. Now that said, if you choose to carry any other firearm, DO NOT TRUST IT until you put 300+ rounds through it and observe no failures (assuming it was cleaned and lubricated properly before the 300 round test starts). I require every firearm to prove itself to me before I trust my life to it. I trust my life to my Ruger LCP Max. Also S&W just came out with a bodyguard 2.0 that is basically the same weight/size/capacity as the Ruger LCP Max so that's another option now as well.

I carried a Glock for 20 years as a police officer. When I retired I began exploring other platforms as a firearms enthusiast. Now that I've returned to law enforcement...I'm back to a Glock 19 as a carry gun since the manual of arms is the same as my duty gun. At first I've noticed my qualification scores were adequate, but not excellent. I am proficient with any handgun platform I pick up, but when it is a life and death situation, I want to be more than proficient...I want to have a mastery! You can't do that by carrying a DA/SA carry gun three days, then a SAO gun 2 days, then a micro gun two days, and a Striker Fired duty gun. A unitizied carry system of "Duty carry, Compact Carry, and Micro Carry" Glock 17, Glock 19, Glock 43 makes sense at this point of my life. I'm shelving my collection of carry guns and moving to a platform specific methodology.

I've carried and used a Bodyguard .380 (the 1.0) and I thought it was terrible to shoot. It bucks way to much for such a tiny round because the pistol is to short and light and the round itself is obnoxious. I found it to be the same level as obnoxious as the .40 in a S&W full frame. To much acting up for not enough gain (aka to much recoil/muzzle climb for no real reason to accept it). I went to a 9mm sub compact because it's just hands down a better shooter.

I’m more than happy with my 43x w/psa 15+1 mags but before that there was a time when I was more than happy lugging around a g19 or m&p 15+1 for over 15 years concealed every day 😂. I’m fine with carrying 380 I’ve just never primarily carried one because most are single stack and I have a phobia or an imbedded primal fear of running out of ammo that won’t let me carry a pistol with such low round capacity. But I can do 13+1 😂

Ruger is trash and let's not forget that Bill Ruger is the reason we have 10 round magazine capacity in California and he wanted it nationwide.
@JohnnyReb20004 ай бұрын
@techmarine83 the only 380 pistols I've shot that didn't "buck" too much for the size of the round were the 1911-ish types like the Sig P238 or the Springfield 911, probably due to those being either steel or aluminum frames (Don't remember which metal Sig uses, but the 911 is an aluminum frame). I, too, generally recommend folks look into the subcompact 9 mm's before they look at the 380 options.

I carried my Gen4 19 MOS for years up to the point I wanted something smaller but not sacrificing much because I carry when active as well. I purchased the 43x MOS then picked up some Gen 3 S15 mags and the mag release. I’ve ran thousands of rounds through that little gun and my 19 is the house gun. I also own a few other Glocks as well. Reliability is essential and very important imo, I have a few other manufacturers but my 43X gets the carry time every time.

I never had a Glock or shot one before my Dad passed. Once he passed I inherited his Glock 27 Gen 4. At first I wasn't crazy about it but after putting a few rounds through it I love it. It's now with me everywhere I go. Besides the sentimental reason of it being my Dad's, it replaced my old favorite from the late 80's a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special.

Just made my application for my first CPL. In my last class for the course, I shot the Glock 17 and 19 both Gen 5. The triggers did leave something to be desired as did the sights. I thought the Glock 19 with the shorter barrel and grip actually was softer on recoil than the 17. My choice for carrying is still up in the air but the Glock 19 is definitely on my list for a good reliable pistol. Your video helped reinforce that decision.

If I have to trust my life with a gun Glock is the only brand I have 100% faith in. It is not the prettiest or have all the bells and whistles some other brands have but I do not care about any of that. Reliability is #1 and Glock has the reputation it does for a reason. It is the Honda Civic of guns it just works. Buy it, practice with it as much as possible, keep it cleaned and oiled and it will last a lifetime!! Excellent gun!!

PSA Mags are flawless. It’s saving money versus using Shield Arms. Shields Arms are literally on their 3rd generation because they’ve had so many feeding issues. Talk to a gunsmith or even the rental counter at a shooting range and ask them which guns have the least problems and are the most reliable... It's still the Glocks. Even though other guns might claim to be as reliable as Glock, it's simply not true when you look at guns with very high round counts on them.

The user serviceable simplicity sells it for me. As a high round count shooter, it's sure nice to be able to change extractors, firing pins, springs ejectors and locking blocks within a minute or less with just a 3/32 punch pin. I can take a complete Glock 19 gen 5, take it completely apart to all of its 34 components and put it back together in 3-5 minutes for the entire process with just a punch pin. It's that easy. I can't do that with my P30L, VP9, P226, FNX45, M&P 2.0, P10C, SP01, P320, P365XL, Shield 45, Bodyguard 380... nothing else comes close to the ease of detail stripping a Glock. That's why Glocks are perfection. Not that you can customize it exactly how you want or the inexpensive OEM magazines or that everyone and their grandmother cerakotes or mills Glocks, but the simplicity of the weapon system.

If you want the exact same dimensions as a Glock 19 but slimmer, they make a single-stack slimline version, the G48. It's been hard to find compact pistols that still give you a 4" barrel, the G48 answers the call. Personally, I think the trend of making the barrel ultra-short but with a normal sized grip looks wrong, like the proportions are backwards. I'll say that as a 6 ft male who's shot many pistols over the past few decades, the G48 was probably the most comfortable grip I've ever felt, I noticed instantly upon picking it up the first time. They just nailed it size-wise, and that also makes it ideal for women and kids to have a small option that fits their hands, without the snappy recoil or difficult aim most compact pistols suffer from.
