you can always heat set the speedball ink in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees to make it dishwasher and hand wash safe
@karbear0410 ай бұрын
do you have to use a non food oven to do this?
@craftybs322 жыл бұрын
I love this. I like to heat the vinyl with a blow dryer and then let it cool. It helps the adhesive stick better. It keeps the etching cream from leaking under the vinyl.

I had to let you know..I started cricut as a hobby and watched you from day one. I was cruising youtube and found you. Because of you and what a awesome teacher you are I have been able to move into a small business style. I can't say how much I'm thankful that you take time out to teach others. You have a gift and you are using it amazingly!! I know this is a older video because I watch yours on my free time at night lol..thank you and "keep doing you boo!" Thank you thank you!

I use a similar method but keep the stencil on after rinsing off the etching cream. Then i can airbrush colour shift on to it and remove stencil. Bake in a low oven 24 hrs later and that can go through the dishwasher too.

Love this! I've been etching for years and use a popsicle stick, spread it on over the design one time and let it sit for 10 minutes then rinse. No problems and you don't risk moving the design. 😉

I etched a black Dollar Tree mug back in July! Looked great! I like to put my mugs in the microwave to heat up coffee and hot cocoa, so I do not like using vinyl..... etching was a great option!
@dorothynewsham37432 жыл бұрын
Question...Doesn't etching remove the glaze on the mug so it's not waterproof anymore right? I love this idea. I know I've had some plates that the glaze cracked & even though I hand washed them they still had water get into the ceramic.

i like this idea. i learnt when doing glasses to put a thick layer of cream on, leave it for 5 min or so then move it around a bit more and let it rest. u can scrape the cream off and put it back into the bottle. it leaves a nice even looking etch and its difficult to see a good sand blasted image to the cream

I wondered about heat and water. If this is for screen printing it should be able to handle that so a shirt can be washed and dried. The temps to set it seem to be 275-375 degrees. So I am thinking if I put them in a cold oven and then set it to a temperature in that range. It should set so it can go in the dishwasher. My guess is 10-15 mins once it reaches temperature

Hi, I'm a total NOOB with the at home machines (i have a Cameo 4) I used to work in the custom car field and noticed that I haven't noticed anyone using a heat gun and/or hairdryer to aid in getting the decals to conform to oddly shaped items.. anyway.. if you feel like an experiment give it a try.. just apply the decal as usual and after you remove the transfer tape lightly go over it with a heat gun/hairdryer and you'll be surprised how well it works.. (just give me a shout out if it works for you as well as it does for me) :)

@shelliehormann20722 жыл бұрын
Okay, tried and the answer is No😢. But, I did find on another site that sells another brand of screen printing ink. They found, if you mix 50/50 screen printing ink and acrylic paint together use instead of etching cream then will adhere to glass. Will try that next time😜
