MRE: Canadian Forces IMP Menu 19 Lamb & Vegetable Stew ~2019~

This review is an Individual Meal Pack or IMP from Canada. One thing about this menu is it was VERY filling. It almost had too much inside the bag but in reality living in the field doesn't mean you need to eat it all at once. Personally, I would have kept the coffee, jerky, bun and PB&J for later on as a snack between meals or fuel for a road march or whatever.

That beef jerky is soooo good for on the go. On a exercise this past summer I had like 3 of those jerky packets in my pocket and while on patrol I would just pop a piece in my mouth every so often. Really kept me awake and kept my moral up. Good stuff!!

Hmmmm.....menu 19.....manufactured 19.......COVID19.......EDIT the main meals always had a lot of juice/gravy, but there was always either mashed potatoes, plain rice, Spanish rice, dehydrated in envelopes, the trick was to prepare the mashed potatoes or rice with half the water, then dump it into the main meal bag, and it would soak up all the excess gravy/juice, and it was the food of,the gods....this was back in the early 80s, before all this fancy bread was included, real men eat crackers.......

With the jerky, I just cut three sides off and the top peels off easy-peasy. Some of the fellas like to soak it in the hot sauce and heat it up. Other guys say they love them for watches. Just something to chew on forever.

The supineness of the gravy shouldn't be that much of an issue in the field. we'd eat the chunky beds with a spork and drink the rest of the bag!

another great ration..would love to try canadian rations..could add the jerky to the liquid after you eat the chunks of the lamb to help soften them up. does it take so long to ship from canada? others want weeks to ship and USDA might steal half of it..just dont wanna spend that kind of money to get anything stolen. would love to know how to get some MRE's without customs taking anything out of it

Gundog, great review as always! Did like the oopsie there, lol. I just finished reviewing the 2018 version of this, and the components were almost identical. The lamb and vegetable stew was absolutely delicious, first time I had even eaten lamb-I’m going to be on the look out for another one of these! This overall looks like a great ration very interesting main. Never had but I am excited to try it. When outside I found IMPs harder to eat then american MREs. But I tell you what that moist nap that IMP is amazing probably the best I have had for outside activtys. Surprised tobasco didn't go well but knew that pain bun would rock it. Nice Review Gundog!
