Here's a look at another IMP (Individual Meal Pack) from Canada. This one was sent to me by BlackDogBob from MREInfo.com and Black Dog Survival School. This one is from the 2014 series and is Menu No.7 Hamburger. It's a pretty simple, but very tasty (as usual) meal.

The bun can be boiled with the burgers, the pack is water proof. Makes em nice and soft.

Steam the bun over a cup of coffee. Also, in the field we used to cut the bun in half for a double patty burger and the other half use peanut butter. Best way to maximize the protein intake.

The oil on the recess pieces is actually the oil they use to make the candy coating shiny. I've come across it when I would get them from a vending machine. They just laid around with a little heat. I think it's mineral oil but I could be wrong.

Great review and Canadian IMPs - so good. Someone made the comment, and seen Gundog do it, heat any bread products you get in an IMP because it makes them softer. Even better! Lol.

Truth. The lack of FRH is the only semi-valid complaint, but given that there's a solid fuel stove that fits the issue canteen cups, that's a moo point.

In other reviews of this meal, they dipped the bun in the burger juice to help with the dryness. That seemed to be the key to a juicy sandwich. I was delighted that you thought to have the beans and Franks!

Possibly explaining the hamburger bun being in non-bun needed mres - some restaurants up here in Canada, seemingly French fast casual places, if you order a bun/roll, you get the top of a hamburger bun. I'm in an English part of Canada, and I don't know of anywhere here that does it, but in French places, it seems to be somewhat common.

St. Hubert's (Now the Quebec arm of Swiss Chalet, but originally was separate serving 1/4 chicken dinners) gives you a hamburger bun with your meal. Swiss Chalet, if you're wondering, gives you a small roll. A couple of decades ago, they also gave hamburger buns. I guess they wanted to seem more fancy (they're not).

Great review !! Glad no more damage received from the water test. Agreed, if left in any longer, most likely it would have had different outcome. As Theresa stated earlier, you were lucky. I have only seen just one burger in any ration, Canadian, or American. Cheese spread, would have been A better option than peanut butter, but peanut butter is protein. I am surprised at one thing however. I thought you would be A fan of hot sauce friend, I am surprised. I knew you were not A fan of coffee already, maybe we can convert you to hot sauce after this review, LOL. Great review, and great menu, despite earlier baptism ! Peace, John.

The Reese's Peanut candy is to die for and I am addicted and I just can't get enough but it is at least £3.15 4$-75c, I what I thought and why not add the cheese to the bean salad might be a change for the better, what about putting the peanut butter on the beefburger patties and top it off with cheese and see who you go, you know people like some extra texture to their meals, the Tomato sauce might mix in well with the bean salad.

That's a good question. Haven't really seen anything quite like the dairyshakes. But I think those Carnation Instant Breakfasts might be a good substitute--except for the fact that they call for milk instead of water. I wonder how they'd taste mixed with water?

There's still a lot that I haven't tried out yet, but I think the French RCIR definitely ranks right up there. The IMPS I've had have all been very good too.

It's editing. I usually stop filming as soon as everything is plated so I can take some photos of the individual items (and the whole meal to be used for the video thumbnail). The editing can get tricky, but usually works out okay.

Wow, you got lucky with that pouch, there should have been just one patty. I think they probably were stuck together and you ended up with two. Those buns got so much raves that you'll find them more or less in all types of IMPs instead of the snack bread or crackers. A lot of the time it's with a peanut butter and a jelly pack so you can make a sandwich along with the regular meal. The reason it seems stale is probably because to O2 absorber sucks the air out of the bun making it hard and dry. I love bean salad and you eat it always cold and adding the hot sauce gives it a nice flavor too. That waxy stuff on the Resses Pieces could be from the coating from the food grade wax that's used to make them shiny. It looks like some heat got to them and melted the coating causing that. Good job, nice review!

Mayonnaise would be way to risky to package in an MRE- they try to limit things that can go bad, and mayo is made out of eggs, which spoil easily. As for why peanut butter instead of cheese spread, I'd guess it was a choice made to add more calories to the meal, or maybe more fat.

Saga Slash the U.S. rations have mayo in them, they use irradiated eggs in it!! plus Canuck. rations don't have the shelf like of the U.S. rats. so I don't think it would be much of an issue!! and if they had cheese, you could do a cheeseburger, the peanut butter?
