Why do we not check the minimum spacing for slabs and only check the maximum? Do we not need to fund out whether the aggregates etc can fit in between bars?

What happens if the calculated Area of the main steel(M/0.95fy*z) is less than that of the distribution steel(0.13bh%) ? Which is going to be the main steel reinforcement? What is going to be the Asreq and Asprov when calculating Fs for checking deflection ? I'll really appreciate if you can attend to this very quick sir My exam is next week Monday
@MrElgamal773 жыл бұрын
Use the minimum. 0.13bh/100

Morning Sir, I have just moved to UK and looking for a job, meanwhile I am familiarizing myself with British Code, recently I got to know that BS8 110 CODE has been superseded by Eurocode 2. Sir can you tell me which code to follow? At the moment I am studying from (Reinforced concrete design- Eurocode 2 by Bill Mosley, John Bungey and Ray Hulse - 6th edition). The design procedures are almost same with your videos except for the code values. Can you tell me which code should I prefer in UK for concrete design and where can I get it from? Thankyou
@MrElgamal773 жыл бұрын
I am not in UK to give you the answer for your question. You need to use the code they are using there. If it is the Eurocode 2, then use it.

Sir, could you let me know where the “24” comes from in calculating for the self weight in Part 2. I’m lost there. Why 24?
@MrElgamal77 Жыл бұрын
It is the denisty of reinforced concrete. 24 kN/m3

Please, how did you get 523mm^2? 10:29
@okaroh6 ай бұрын
My same question
@mieseigha6 ай бұрын
@@okaroh hey, after searching i got how he did it. Cross section area= Pi/4 X (diameter of bar used)^2 Spacing= (cross section area x 1000)/ area required you’ll get ‘180c/c’ but he ended up using ‘150c/c’ Area provided (Asp)= (cross section area X 1000)/ spacing [which is 150 in this case] the answer for Asp will be 523mm^2, that’s how he got it

plz giveme reference book assume an 8" one-way slab continuous over 4 total supports. The Clear span between supports is ln = 16'-0". Use f. = 3000 psi and fy = 60,000 psi. Assume d = 6" to the main reinforcing a.Determine the moment and shear values using the ACI coefficients. Draw each diagram assuming a knife-edge support (i.e., ignore the width of the supporting beams). b.Determine the required flexural reinforcing (bar size and spacing) in the slab at the first interior support

Hi sir, Coud you explain me where did you get the As provided when calculating the area of steel, does it come from table? Thanks

Yes, correct. We get it from a table. Also, you can calculate them.

@MrElgamal774 жыл бұрын

The z calculated was 171mm. Why did you use 180mm in the As(Area of Steel) formula?

After calculating using 171mm, the result is 447, so never mind. I guess it's a typo.

How do you know its T10
@MrElgamal773 жыл бұрын
At the initial proporting, we assume it 10 mm. You can assume it 12 with no problem. This will not affect the thickness. At the end, the area of steel will govers if it is 10, 12 or 16..
