I struggled to correctly tension the new belts, so they work with the three levers. Also how to adjust the two bearings. Your explanation is excellent

Hi Mr. F. That's a very interesting head stock arrangement. Thanks for showing your 'how to' methods. Always looking forward for your videos. Yesterday I finished cutting the keyways in the 2 driving gears using the topslide key slotting attachment. Next to make is the handle with an other keyway slot in it. Take care and catch you in your next clip. Regards Emanuel

I have followed you religously doing this task ,and got the belts from the same supplier, but I have a problem in as much as the belts are driving the chuck without the tri leva mechanism fitted, measuring the belts I have taken off they are 10mm longer, this has got me stumped, any ideas ???

Hi Vaughan Sorry to hear of your problems. A couple of things here, have you tried it with the tri leva mechanism on!! if not try this first as the guard shapes the belts around the pulley. If you have done that and still not right, it sounds like the countershaft is not set correctly, i didn't cover that in the video as i was just assuming a like for like belt swap. In my Video Part 3 at approximatley 3 mins 34 secs in pause the video and looking at the screen as if a clock face, at 5 past and 10 past there are 2 adjusting screws for the countershaft setting, screwing them in lifts the countershaft hence tightening the belts more, or undoing the screws a little at a time drops the countershaft hence loosening the belts, make sure you do them evenly to keep alignment, and small increments at a time, and undo the locking nuts first then re tightenen the locking nuts once the required setting is reached. Hope this helps you, good luck and let me know how you get on Regards Kev

Hi Vaughan Just an after thought here as well following my last comment, the new belts are much stiffer than the old ones and may need a little time to bed in to shape!! cheers Kev

I sat and looked at it and then I had the lightbulb moment 😂😂 and like you said I saw the adjustment screws on the counter shaft so with a bit of fine tuning all is now well Thanks for replying Vaughan

I just got my hands on one of these, I wondered if you might be able to tell me why my fast lever unlocks itself, it doesn't seem to lock down as nice as the middle and right lever?
