My father always listened to this song in the car. I used to hate "old music". But now it makes me cry... I miss these times. He isn't dead or something. I just don't see him that often anymore.

I was listening to this song when I was as old as my son now. Such a beautiful song. Where I lived you could listen to it on a radio or a Juke Box but videos weren’t commercialised much.. and I was too young to care. In Italy this song was everywhere. I thought it was a black female singer singing it. If you close your eyes you will notice I might be right.. great voice. I also loved a lot their other famous song: I didn’t know. I looked for it for many years. Oh the tears when I found it. I wish I could talk to that little young me loving this song and being emotional. It took so May years to find it. I owe PhD more memories than I imagined. And yes, our parents were saying the same, the music we listened to was rubbish. Listen to your music. Look for some good music and artists to listen to. They will be like pictures of your time. Full of memories. Listen to some good music for good memories. Live and love music with your friends and family.

The shame is that as Jim told me, he was never really recognised in Scotland. The only reason I can think of is because he was more famous in Europe than Britain. He has one of the most recognisable voices in the world but we Scots just didn't want him.

Played this full blast in my car one hot summers night with my windows down. Stopped at a set of traffic lights. A car pulled up beside me. I could see the driver and passenger looking at me out the corner of my eye :) I slowly turned my head and made eye contact then we all started singing it together. A perfect synchronised moment that I’ll never forget. Isn’t that the coolest story ever?

Love the occasional burst into laughter from the woman in this vid. Must be hard to hold a straight face for that long without wanting to crack up 🙂
