Can blame the current environment for some of it. With the playoff format, and to a lesser extent before it went defunct-- the BCS, teams almost HAVE to blow out clearly inferior opponents to maintain or move up in the rankings. They dont put value on rivalries anymore. Style points are absolutely a factor. If your team is undefeated and the opponent has 4 or more losses, Vegas and the committee expect the superior team to beat them by a minimum of 3 scores. Or else they lose position in the rankings. Sad but absolutely true. So when fans of s team watch their 11-1 team struggle to beat a 6-6 win team, they absolutely have merit. Blame the current system. If this had been prior to the late 90s when the BCS was introduced, "just winning" absolutely would have been fine and nobody would be grumbling.

I was the only Bama fan in my house watching the game with a bunch of Auburn fans. Uhg, it was brutal, I was getting a headache from all the yelling. Then came the last minutes of the game, when Bama tied it up they all got real quiet. Man I was so happy that Bama won, it was great!!! I'm more confident going into this SECCG than I have been the last couple of ones. Georgia is clearly the better team this year, although that doesn't always translate into a win. I agree though, the UGA defense is going to EAT on Saturday. Just hoping that Monken and the offense keep up their end of the bargain and score enough to keep it under control. We can't win in a shoot out, but we can stop it from becoming a shoot out, and that's all that matters. Play like Michigan did - methodical, efficient, clock eating ball control.

I was at that game as a Freshman at Alabama with my heathen Auburn boyfriend at the time, that I was about to break up with, anyway (I know, what on God's green earth was I thinking dating someone with whom I had such religious differences?). He was SUCH a BARNER the whole game, but when Van Tiffin hit the field goal, not only did he SHUT UP, but everyone in the student section that had been sitting around us began to hit him in the head with their shakers (this was back when they were paper with a wooden handle). Knowing how young this team is and all the amazing players they lost after last year, I think Bama has been as good as they could be this season. I'm happy with any win at Auburn no matter how ugly it is. I do believe the team will fight hard in the SEC championship but I honestly don't see them beating Georgia. Mainly because they are just so much more dominant in the trenches, where as Bama has struggled in that area on offense almost all season. I do believe next year they will be a much better improvement over this year's team.

People are so used to a certain level of excellence from Bama, they're talking about us like we haven't won all but ONE game lol. Our young team has managed to go 11-1. That's objectively a great season by any other standard. Even the "struggle-wins" are still wins.
