This is the arrival of the latest and probably the biggest project yet! But can you guess what we are going to build out of this MK3 Centurion Hull?

My guess is a Centurion Mk3 Ice cream van. I'm probably wrong but it would make a fortune at shows. Plus you could easily take out the competition.

I looked at that odd turret arrangement and thought "Oh! A bridge layer without the bridge bits!" Of course that guess was wrong. But it got me thinking that you need to track down a bridge layer with it's bridge, and get it working. 🙂

Likely a fv4005 stage 2. The tank with a 183mm gun. Looking at that mount in the turret. And also he said one was made of it
@Cornish21Pasty Жыл бұрын
Or even the Stage 1. It featured an autoloading system although, im pretty sure that one was on railway tracks instead of tank tracks.
@thomweber4102 Жыл бұрын
@@Cornish21Pasty if im not making a mistake, the autoloader was build(or built) on tank hull with tracks as well. Only problem it had was that the turret was to small or the turret whould have needed to be larger which they didnt want
@ComradeFarquhar Жыл бұрын
Not related to the 4005 project actually Its the 140mm gun mount, used to test the 140mm Gun the Brits made and never ended up using

Solely for testing a gun. Air ram and manual elevation connect to the bottom of the breech. Why'd they have to use a tank hull for it?
@nicholasglanfield9221 Жыл бұрын
Fascinating vehicle. Was going to say it could be a test mount for gun barrels during the clip. But was confirmed at the end. Love the knowledge and humour you guys have.
@trampertravels Жыл бұрын
The turret floor is thick and the turret race teeth are chunky and so that indicates that they were expecting a lot of downward pressure and so I think this is the testbed for the Mk 4 Centurion, which was never put in to service, the 95mm CS (Close Support) Howitzer.

1: You’re putting a 5th wheel on it and you’re going to drag a low loader with Crouch’s Scania on it just to confuse the DVSA and plod. 2: You’re putting an extending ladder on it with air adjustable elevation because you’ve got a barn roof to fix. 3: You’re putting a jib with a couple of slings on (again air adjustable) just to support the bones now you’ve obviously killed Jack off as he didn’t appear again after hooking them up at the beginning. 4: Inspired by the pride broom handle camera mount featured previously you’re building the worlds most capable all terrain self propelled camera tripod.

As a swedish guy I like the fact that all trucks/trailers that deliver the tanks are either Volvo or Scania👍😋! As a truckdriver myself since 25 years I like the V8 Scania best but Volvo are nice trucks to, they are just as good, impossible to say witch one is the best brand. It comes down to personal taste. Volvo are the cheapest one and they have extremly nice offers when haulage companies that doesn't have the money to buy but has to borrow the money. In this case they are almost forced to buy the Volvo. It's much more difficult to borrow money to buy a Scania and this is something to have in mind when looking at which brand sells most trucks. So, it's much more difficult to buy a Scania and still there are so many of them out on the roads, this must mean something! It's amazing that a small country like Sweden can produce these trucks that can compete with every single trucks in the world! Sweden also produce nice tanks and weapons!😉

Just noticed you use WD-40 on hot bolts and such, that stuff is worthless for that, use beeswax instead. It doesn't vanish in a cloud of perfumery smoke and works its way down the threads to provide lube while the bolt or nut is still very hot.

by looks of it - it were a big bang stick - oh there's an idea Jo, build an extra large pea shooter, with flames and stuff i been watching the lads at the Australian Tank Museum, they do a great job restoring etc, rebuilding bent up sides of tanks, made in steel of all silly thicknesses and i seen them welding the panels together, using both tick and mig, stainless steel wire, very cool, can't be cheap, just wondering if that's how you Centurion was built, no rusty dust on the welding? oh i can get all anoraky (not Iraqi) i just been watching vids of US naval guns, as you do, the barrels were very cleverly made in several parts so they could be re-sleeved later on when worn out, the were nicely balanced so they didn't require a huge ram to adjust the height at the rear, the bearing was a clever piece of kit in its self, a frictionless trunnion bearing each side, almost a floating bearing with a narrow space all round, 5" naval guns were supported from a centre point, on the trunnion bearing, its proper nice engineering if your into that sort of thing, you can find vids on the USS Texas kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6Xch4GfZc-An6c will be an interesting project to sink your little teeth into, certainly keep you off the streets which is probably very wise
