I think you should dedicate an entire discussion video to the topic of anger in Tekken, I really relate to you on the feeling like a psychopath thing at times. People in my life have come into my room when I'm raging because they are genuinely concerned for my wellbeing. I have a really hard time controlling my emotions and ego when playing tekken which sucks the fun right out of it and has even affected my relationships. I'd be grateful to hear more about your experiences regarding this subject. Makes me feel less crazy knowing even skilled and experienced players like yourself go through this stuff.

This! I drink water throughout sessions, & thought it was enough to keep my brain proactively engaged. I didn't think adding food was that big of a deal, & thought that recently my skills had dipped due to my short break. I would hand out free Ws & THEN go eat hahaha, & not hop back on after. I went on break right after hitting Tekken King, so coming back I genuinely thought I was just good with water. Earlier tho, I just happened to eat before I played & man I felt like I was on fire. I went on an 8 game win streak before getting off, & each person was within 10,000 to 50,000 prowess higher than me, on "troublesome" characters at that (Lidia, Xiayou, Lee, & Jin).

Absolutely stellar video. Very guilty of not ducking strings (partly due to my crappy reaction time) and playing while tilted from one moment in a game long gone. One habit I think should be considered is “focusing too much on landing a move/string/combo”. Fought some Kazuyas that just throw electric, whiff, then do it again.

Not entirely sure what you're trying to describe in habit number 10? If it's about a specific demographic of players that can't break throws but rely on them, that's great for them even if they complain about it. Not only do they get free throw break practice from all the people who are going to revenge throw them, but one of the best emotions to help us change is anger, so if they're fuming on forums, they have all the motivation they need to go practice throw breaking.

Have enough discipline to not go autopilot. Throw out attacks with intent and not just for the sake of it. Mind you, this only works at blue ranks and above. At the lower ranks, just have fun but lock in when you reach Fujin. At this point, you're fighting the player rather than the character.

"My family thinks im a fucking raging psycho when i play this game" "im a happy-go-lucky guy, super chill, when im not playing tekken" This fucking game man. I feel you. I have never broken my things over it, but holy shit. I have never felt or expressed as much anger in my fucking life as i have playing this game. And i cant put it down, i love it and regret not playing it sooner. I have been trying to control it and stay as zen as i can, and i succeed for long stints, but then it just creeps up again. I find, for me, the best way to fight it back off is to play a character i have no idea how to play and to just go into ranked with them. Im goimg to lose, im not going to know what to do, but it isnt anger inducing since i had no chance anyways. Best part is all i can think about is my mains tools as im fighting the urge to button mash. This way can probably only work for so long as i learn the characters but still, if anyone else gets uncharacteristically angry playing your main, just go in with someone you dont know and dont bother practicing them first, and just focus on defense and poking and let the losses cleanse you of the rage build-up.

small thing to note about taking advantage of plus frames is that mashing is insane on lower levels, you press any frame advantage and you will get mash punished, teaching and solidifying really bad habits for new players that stunt their potential. hell, the story mode, even back in t7, just incentivizes mashing as the most optimal way to beat the levels because you dont know the character among other things

Just need to remember to not force the win once they’re in rage, and try to play a bit more defensively at that point unless you’re able to close it out. If they’re in rage and the neutral is reset, you need to be less aggressive or you’ll eat rage arts too often.

I honestly noticed that Haworang players that auto pilot. Throw out that double kick armor moves without thinking even though it's grab punishable. Reina too. That being said. This and Chad's video about exploring other characters. Great guides on improvement mind set. Great Vid as always man. Can't wait for the next.

What you said regarding whiffing from distance - it is actually a VERY effective tool against those turtle-type players who always hold back when they get low to insta rage art when you do a move Just jab the air really quick to bait out the rage art and kill them. Works similar with people who love doing the same shit with heat bursts. Jab whiff or hit into sidestep whatever their weak side is for heat burst.

solid tips , playing on an empty stomach is a big one, i noticed i play like shit when i'm hungry, my biggest problem is that i get tilted fast, like if someone doesn't skip his intro when his character is already annoying enough that shit is going to tilt me before the match even starts, never mind all the broken bs going on right now with most of the characters and the robberies, and losing to worse players than me... like how are u supoose to not get annoyed in this game ? sure if i was a godlike player like Anakin i'd be chill at all times no matter what cause i know i can smoke 99% of every online player... but i'm not Anakin i'm just a foot soldier in tekken fighting in the trenches

Another thing: when you're tilted - stop playing the game and just do something else Sometimes taking a step back can help you unlearn bad habits - reset your mind

Ur Tips would be great if it's tekken 7 but tekken 8 is the game of mashers u need to Play Careless and without hesitation of course u wanna Learn punishes and defense but u don't wanna Play defensive u See it in Tournaments all the time they Believe in thier Read and throw thier moves Out without thinking what happens and without hesitation i got a Good friend who throws out some stupid af moves but It works Because He knows his defensive but plays aggressiv and without hesitation

Right. But playing aggressively still requires precision and intellect. Merely playing “without hesitation” will get you killed.

I more get frustrated with myself for not feeling like I can improve. That said I have been playing a few other games that helped me do a bit of a reversal on my mindset. Granted, some characters I feel get stereotyped as obnoxious, but I end up not taking a lot seriously. Another thing I look at is, I see Quick Matches as the place to learn (or attempt to) and have a bit of fun and improve, while Ranked is the exams. And playing Overwatch 2 for the first time, has me not take ranked seriously as often times, there's a number of things that are out of your control, and all you can do is work on the things you CAN control. Also: Reina has taught me bad habits regarding her b1+2 as it's a very useful Armour move to steal the turn back, but it leaves you vulnerable to throws as it's Armour. Even when I press 1+2 to try and throw break it but I move back out of reflex. Also given her poor lows, I tend to not focus on lows much (which leaves me vulnerable to lows as a result). Not sure if that is a similar experience other Reina players have but it's one I found when I started playing Tekken 8 with her (picked her up cause she gave me Heihachi before DLC and I enjoy playing her a lot)
