Ready to roll again :). At first I thought you had the problem found on some old Dynas, some models have the ECU under the seat and when the pan get worn out and flexes, it puts some pressure on the module. Over time, the plastic housing cracks at the connector level, rupturing the wires insulation and/or the wires themselves. Good to see that it isn't the case and that you got it sorted out. Ride on!

@@MrHotrod460 I had no doubt you would crack it ;)...I'm not too far from getting my hands into the electrical myself, the bodywork of my build is almost finished. Feeling both excited and a tad apprehensive. Wiring the entire bike from scratch with a M-unit :P...Wish me luck!

Doing the same thing to my 99' sportster right now, had the overheat no spark issue years ago, but never knew what it was. Was going to use a Dyna 2000i, but stumbled on the standard motorcycle MC-SPA-3 which has pins ready to go. My coil is also bad, which is probably the main problem, but I don't want to be stuck at a gas station waiting for the engine to cool again. Drilling those rivets off wasn't so bad, and you can either tap the timer cover plate holes 8-32 or use self tapping screws, which I think the HD part number 32668-98A comes with self tappers, but I'll soon find out when I get all my parts in

So just to update here, the MC-SPA-3 didn't work out for me despite the online fitment guide saying so, went ahead and got the ultima as it''s a bit cheaper than the Dyna 2000i. Wire colors on bike: Ignition/Power/Start/RunButton (white/black) Trigger (pink) VOES (purple) Bank Angle sensor (green) Ground (black) -- If you google about you can find a service manual for a 1998 which is just as good, my ignition wire wasn't getting 12v which also caused me some headaches

This has got to be the problem on my 95 Sportster. What was the Part # on this Ultima kit?

Yeah the ignition modules are made in china and constantly burn out, go bad, even the replacement from Harley Davidson dealership made in China, I think I'm going to install points from the 70s on my 02 Sportster, plan on doing away with all the wiring, electrical system BS, tired of buying cheap parts made in China that doesn't last!!!
