As someone who has left the world of driving till later in life (im 40 now only passed February this year), yeah should of done it years ago, these videos are realy helpful as im not savvy when it comes to car maintenance at all, the time lapse helps too but yeah rambling now, great video, love the channel

GREAT WORK!! I know this hobby is daunting and frustrating at times but you're better for it. We're both past the age of youthful exuberance for tackling this type of thing so I'm proud of you. I'm in my 40's so sometimes this hobby just hurts. :) I have a '21 Shelby GT500 and a 69 Chevy Nova. I bought the Shelby because I was tired of wrenching on my Mustangs. Then I bought the Nova because I still wanted a little punishment in my life. :) Again, Great Work.

Congrats Nate. I worked on engines (minorly -changed my own alternators, oil, timing belts, filters, spark plugs, etc.) of my & my dad’s cars back in the 90s & early 2000s so I have a good idea of how challenging they can be(!!) but I never swapped out a whole engine! Bravo mate! Much respect. I know it SUCKED & f your flake out mechanic! But I know doing mechanical work that SUCKS & yet finally succeeding is a rewarding/if not angrily-satisfying achievement… so congrats on accomplishing it man. 👍🏼 I finally caved & got a Tesla model 3 in 2022 🤦🏻‍♂️😂🤷🏻‍♂️ Working on cars usually kinda sucks, so to be so much more care free without all the components of a traditional combustion engine to worry about them breaking / needing repairs… it is kinda awesome… and the instant, insane acceleration is pretty damn nice too. Have you ever driven a Tesla? (I’m guessing you might dislike them bc they’re rather the opposite to a petrolhead’s bread & butter?), but curious if you have & what your thoughts are on them… Anyhow keep up all the good work, man. Great job! The last time I did an engine swap by myself was on an EE92 Corolla hatchback front wheel drive. I was 22 at the time, now I'm 42 and I REFUSE to do what you just did. But CHEERS!

Good work mate! Wont be long before you are brapping around in it! And as you've probably learnt if you do this again its probably easier to pull the engine and gearbox together, while it makes it ohysically more difficult to remove/fit the engine it allows you to mount the gearbox on the floor which make sit soooo much easier

good job! been there many times when you are desperate for help but just gotta suck it up and get it done yourself! you might want to put it in gear and rock the car, just to make sure the clutch is aligned or you'll be doing it all over again 😂

The aw11 has oil to liquid oil cooler. There’s a coolant pass though cooler that mounts on the bulkhead. The ae86 4age has an air to oil cooler that mounts up in front of the radiator on the core support.

That hose is the Positive Crank-case venitlation hose, wrapped in a covering that protects it from heat. Toxic fumes build up in the crank case due to heat so it is vented back into the intake so that is can be burned in the engine and then mitigated by the exhaust pollution system. This mitigates poison in the environment. One would make sure it has a valve that would allow only positive pressure from the crank case to the intake so that you have best performance. I submit that if you had a proper shop you would enjoy your project more as you would have smooth floors to move things and a lift. Replacing and entire engine is an advanced mechanical project but not impossible. Don't get into a hurry, It's ok.

Engine degreaser requires a respirator to use because it takes a lot to cut through engine Grease.

Dismantle it, take some bits off that I can keep as spares, but the core engine itself will go in the scrap. I have no use for it or the space for it. If this new engine blows I'll put a completely different engine in it

The old engine? Because it's not economically viable to do that. I can buy a low mileage secondhand engine for less than it would be to rebuild a new one, I also don't know how to rebuild an engine. So I'd have to pay someone to do it and I'd like to enjoy the car.

When ya working on a car,1st thing to do,invest in a Haynes manual book for your engine or car. Takes all guesswork out of things for ALOT of things.
