Just to be clear on a few things: 1) Harry is the one who disarms Draco, not Voldemort. 2) The reason why Lucius does not react when Voldemort slaps him or snaps his wand is he is not as powerful a wizard and he is terrified of him. 3) By that point in the story Narcissa only cares about protecting her son. She no longer cares about Voldemort after he threatened to kill Draco, 4) Snape is definitely NOT Harry’s father. He loved her but she only considered him a friend until he called her a filthy little mudblood in a moment of anger. That was the magical equivalent of calling her the N word and she never forgave him. That occurred quite awhile before Lily ever got involved with Harry’s father James 5) In the book Harry returns the Elder Wand to Dumbledore’s grave after repairing his own broken wand. I think it’s better that he broke the wand in half, myself. That way, no one would ever be tempted to steal it again or use it against it’s current owner (Harry) as happened in the Deathly Hallow tale.

The problem is Mr Boyd doesn't realize the "filler" is the rest of the story; he thinks the main plot line is the story. Harry defeats Voldemort because he has friends and love; he is motivated by those things. They enable him; they protect him. They matter.
@samuelhiatt9338
@samuelhiatt9338 Жыл бұрын
Narcissa Malfoy while being a follower of Voldemort only ever really truly cared for her son, Draco. So when she felt Harry's pulse she thought to herself "alright so this dude is obviously immortal since he just survived a SECOND killing curse so I'm just gonna protect Draco" and gave up on Voldemort. Thats why she only asked Harry if Draco was alive. She valued her son over her cause. Also, Snape did have a true friendship with Lily. They were childhood best friends. The thing is that he wanted that friendship to advance into an intimate relationship and it never did. This is why there are constant subtle signs of Snape being very torn with Harry because he sees half of the woman he loved and half of the man he hated. He basically became a double agent out of his desire to protect Lily from Voldemort after Voldemort started to go after her family due to the prophecy foretelling of Harry defeating Voldemort. When Filch says "mom," he's actually saying "ma'am." The guy playing the goblin is Willow. He also plays Professor Flitwick, making him a rare double-casted actor. "If you have to ask, you'll never know. If you know, you need only ask" is referring to the Room of Requirement. This is because it never appears on a whim. It appears when it is truly needed. So "If you have to ask, you'll never know" is referring to the fact that it doesn't appear on demand without a good reason and "If you know, you need only ask" refers to that a true and genuine need will always be answered. Another thing to note is that the scene where Voldemort hugs Draco was not from the book and was actually filmed differently in early shots. The original book-accurate scene is in the deleted scenes. Draco actually flips sides and tosses Harry his wand when Harry reveals himself to still be alive. He then fights alongside the others and defends Hogwarts, which is why Draco is viewed favorably by everyone in the "20 years later" scene despite his troubled past. Not sure why exactly they cut Draco's redemption moment, but they did.

I believe the Malfoys stopped being followers when Lucius went to Azkaban and became hostages in their own home from then onward. That will make a mother remember her true cause I believe. Narcissa is more of a believer in being a pure blood than she is in being a follower of Voldemort, especially after Voldemort disrespects the Malfoy’s and, most definitely, when he says that he will kill Draco if he doesn’t assassinate Dumbledore. That’s when she really turns against Voldemort. Never threaten a mother’s child. Also, keep in mind that Voldemort is only a halfblood himself. How dare he disrespect pure bloods! Snape was bullied in school by James Potter (Harry's father) and although he loved Lily (Harry's mother), he couldn't have her. They were dating, but then apparently, she noticed his dark side and learned that he was playing with dark magic, which she didn't approve of, so she left him. He met and married James (blow to Snape) and even though he hated Harry (because of James) he was heartbroken everytime he saw Harry's eyes (the 'were your mother's eyes). I knew you wouldn't like the ending. You kept looking for logic. I look for closure when I watch films. And Lily (Harry's mom) did not reject Snape; she just didn't love him in the same way she loved James. For most people, love is not decided logically -- as you seem to suggest. Snape's Petronius is proof of Snape's enduring love for Lily. HIs sacrifice for Lily's son is further proof. Lily and Snape were childhood friends who lived in a muggle world that didn't understand the magic they both had. They were neighbors and friends despite Lily being muggle born and Snape half-blood. Think of Harry and Hermione, two friends who grew up in a muggle world but possessed magic. James, at first, was a mischievous troublemaker who bullied Snape. Lily was not attracted to him at first, only after he matured and stopped acting like a brat. Still, I think she sensed the kindness in him in the way he befriended Lupin, Sirius, and Peter Pettigrew who would have otherwise been outcasts -- for different reasons. Remus: the secret werewolf, Sirius: the only Black who was placed in Gryffindor, not Slytherin (and erased from the family tree because he embarrassed them), and Peter: a weird kid without much talent for magic or anything else either. Lastly, the books have more story than the movies as well as parts that were different. The missing parts from the books fit in the story to make what you think of as filler connect to the story as a whole. One of those important differences: Harry did not break the elder wand and throw the pieces away. He used it to fix his broken wand and returned it to Dumbledore's tomb. That way no one can take it from him and gain power. Harry wasn't interested in power. He just wanted family and to rid the world of evil, making his children's world safer. He achieved his first goal with Jenny (a witch as powerful as he was from a family that had already made him one of them). Plus, he became an auror, a dark wizard catcher ridding the world of evil. Voldemort, it seems, was his first catch.

Harry did the right thing by destroying the Elder Wand. Because even with Voldemort gone, there would be power hungry dark wizards (potentially powerful ones) who want to take it, and make an attempt on Harry's life, just to get it. Okay, so now that you’re at the end, here’s some more perspective that isn’t apparent in the movies, and also some things that you would have to correctly infer even if you read the books. A big part of why Snape can’t let go is because he drove Lily away. She tried to intervene during one occasion where James and Sirius were pretty much picking on Snape, when they were 15, and Snape, embarrassed, called her a mudblood. He always regretted it, and even later reacted with hostility to one of the former headmaster’s portrait referring to Hermione by that word. He chased her away with that, and it’s that, more than she herself, that Snape can’t get over. Second, a lot of people misinterpret Dumbledore’s comment of “don’t tell me you’ve come to care for the boy” as if Dumbledore didn’t care about Harry. On the contrary, Dumbledore had every reason to believe Harry would survive, due to Voldemort taking Harry’s blood for his resurrection. But he had to deceive Snape to believe that Harry must die. Snape had to believe that because he was supposed to pass that information on to Harry. Harry had to believe he would die, he had to knowingly and voluntarily go to his death, because like his mother did for him, his act of sacrifice extended protection to the other defenders of Hogwarts.

I was sorted into Gryffindor and my brother was sorted into Slytherin in the the official Wizarding World Harry Potter website (formerly known as Pottermore). I adore my brother. He is generous, kind, patient and very charismatic. But like a true Slytherin he is also ambitious, cunning, quick wit and resourceful. All the traits of a Slytherin according to the books. Harry did eventually began to understand that by the time he meets Slughorn in Half Blood Prince. And then he fully comprehended it whole heartily by the time he sees Snape's memories. Harry growing into manhood and maturing caused him to finally open his eye and fully see the truth. 💚🖤💚🐍💚🖤💚

The Malfoys didn't "like" Voldy when he came back. They liked the power they had built for themselves and that came with being deatheaters. They liked their lives as they were while he was gone. Then he came back and they had to return to him, but now their son was involved. They wanted a way out but there was none because Voldy would kill their entire family rather than let them leave. So by the end, Narcissa's only concern was Draco's safety. She traded Harry's life for the information of her son being alive. As long as there was still hope that her son was alright and they could get out of this, she was fine with letting Harry live and lying to Voldy, because she knew he was the only one with the power to stop him. That's why they fled as soon as Harry distracted Voldy with a fight. They wanted to get their son and get the hell out of there.

Not always, just the Elder wand and certain cores are not that loyal to begin with. Others are very loyal and don't even like family members like Ron's wand It was originally his dad's. It works for Ron but not as good as it will for his dad.

@Zankaroo. Wands switch allegiance if their master is defeated. That’s true of all wands. Ron’s first wand belonged to his older brother Charlie. It’s allegiance was to Charlie since Ron did not win it from his brother. Charlie simply gave it to him. They didn’t fight or battle over it. Bellatrix’s wand did not work properly for Hermione because Hermione wasn’t the one who took it from Bellatrix. It was Dobby who disarmed her. Same for the wand Ron gave to Harry in the tent. Ron was the one who defeated the Snatcher & it was Ron who had the allegiance of the wand but he gave it to Harry, who had not won it from the Snatcher. You have to defeat the true master of a wand by either disarming them or killing them. Once you do that the wand recognizes you as its new master. Intent is also important. That’s why the wands didn’t switch allegiance during the DA lessons in Order of the Phoenix The kids weren’t really fighting each other. They were simply practicing spells & charms. They didn’t really defeat each other so they kept the loyalty of their wands

@@learobinson4450 Everything I've read says what I said on the wand lore part at least. Ron's dad vs brother could be my mistake. Not all wand's just which allegiance after defeat. The books are quite different in a lot of aspects. I highly recommend both the books and the audiobooks with character voices. Your right they went way too dark. Even with contrast turned up you can barely see anything. Voldemort never had Draco's wand. He had Lucius' wand and Harry's wand destroyed it. In the book Ron had to try several times before he could make the right Parseltongue sounds to open the chamber door. And the Elder wand didn't crack. It just wasn't working like Voldemort expected it to work. That's Fiendfyre. Incredibly dangerous and hard to control. No Snape is NOT Harry's father. He ruined his friendship/relationship before Lily & James got together and long before Harry was born because of his fascination with the dark arts and his disdain for muggles and muggleborns.he final straw was when he called her a mudblood when she came to his rescue in that previous memory where James Potter was bullying Snape. The Resurrection Stone does not bring you back to life. It brings you back in spirit form. Harry used it to bring back people he loved in order to give him the courage to sacrifice his life. After that he dropped the stone in the forest before facing Voldemort. What kept Harry from dying is when Voldemort used Harry's blood to rebuild his body. That blood carried Lily's protection in it. As long as Voldemort is alive Harry can't be killed. Once Voldemort died and that connection was destroyed Harry went on to live a normal life. No. Voldemort never knew Harry was a horcrux.

Despite their paths going separate ways, Lily DID care for Snape. The happy memories they made together as children is precisely what protected Harry from the dementors during Prisoner of Azkaban when Snape conjured the patronus during his conversation with Dumbledore. Lily was the only one who brought light into Snape's world. It was the only time Snape ever felt safe, happy, and loved. His devotion to honor Lily's legacy was a testament to the lasting bit of love, hope, and humanity that he would always hold dear to him throughout the darkness of his life.

You don't seem to understand Snape at all. He knew he lost Lily to James, but that doesn't mean his feelings just vanish. So he dedicated his life to still being their for her and he even betrayed Voldemort to try to protect not only her, but his own bully, James and her son. Yet Peter Pettigrew screwed that up and they died. So Snape not only lost her TWICE but he felt horrible that he couldn't even protect her. He lost everything. Not that Snape was a perfect saint lol, so that failure to say Lily crushed Snape. So he did all could to protect Harry, because he was her son and had her eyes, however he also treated him like crap because Harry looks like his dad who was his bully. So Snape was tortured even after Lily and James died by Harry. Harry was a reminder of his biggest loss and failure in life. Every time he saw Harry he would recall being in that room, holding Lily's dead body, that pain came back. So the whole "Well Lily didn't love him back so why protect her." line is bullshit. Lily never hated Snape, originally she was sad to get pulled away from Snape as kids. But she never disliked him. Yes he got put in the friend zone, but does that mean you just say okay screw you and be a bitch? No, Snape was a man who still cared for her and was willing to protect her. Snape is the best character in Harry Potter, hands down!

The reason they made his tear look like that wasn't just bad CGI. It was to show that it was a coalesced condensed memory, that Snape deliberately created so that he could show Potter the events of the past. It also has to be considered that it was also shown as Snape's point of view and as such, may not reflect the events as they actually were.

Point One: Yes, that is "Willow" (Warwick Davis) AND Professor Flitwick. Two: No, Voldermort took LUCIUS Malfoy's wand, not Draco's. And Lucious' wand was broken during the battle over the power-lines. Three: A) Hermione is holding Belatrix's wand, and B) Belatrix reported her wand missing, so if it is presented to the goblins, they will know Hermione is an imposter. Four: It should not have been done first. 'Imperio' is one of the three "unforgivable" curses. Harry is NOT enthusiastic about using them, and technically "they will earn the caster a one way ticket to Azcaban" Five: "THAT KIND of Magic won't work in here" (IE: a summoning charm, OR Wizard magic, as apposed to possibly Goblin magic) NOT "ALL magic won't work in here" Six: Sirius's mirror is one of many things from the book left out of the movie. Sirius's had two mirrors he and James Potter used like walkie-talkies. He gave one to Harry, Harry broke it, but kept a sliver of it. Seven: Ableforth doesn't want to be "mysterious" he want to be left alone in his bitterness. He blames his brother Albus with killing/causing the death of their little sister Ariana (the girl in the portrait) Eight: Parents sending kids/they are held hostage? Neither. Attendance at Hogwarts was made "Mandatory" by the ministry once Voldermoret got control of it. He wants the new generation indoctrinated. Nine: The traits that get you placed into Slytherin are ambition, resourcefulness, determination, and cleverness. This does not automatically mean you are evil, or will become evil. Snape was in Slytherin, as was Slughorn. Ten: "He talks in his sleep enough for Ron to memorize a few words of parsiltongue? Yes. It's a movie, sometimes you have to suspend your disbelief for the sake of moving the plot along. MORE importantly is Hermione's reaction (which no one seems to catch) being embarrassed and indigent that Ron would ask if she notices Harry talks in his sleep (why would Hermione be close enough to hear Harry sleeping, eh?) Eleven: Goyle's spell is "Fiendfyre", which manifests in animal shapes (Voldermort used it in the battle with Dumbledore) Twelve: SO many people misinterpret Dumbledore leaving Harry the resurrection stone, thinking it's so Harry can come back from the dead once Voldermort kills him. What the books tell us (that the movie fails) is that the stone was in the ring/horcrux, and it was damaged when Dumbledore destroyed it, so it only brings back ghosts. Dumbledore leaves it to Harry so he can summon his loved ones, to give him courage to go through with his sacrifice. (and in the books, the ghosts protect him from the dementors patrolling the forest). The reason Harry has the _choice_ to come back is: His mother's protection charm is in his blood, and Voldermoret has some of Harry's blood in himself, so Voldermoret is a sort-of horcrux for Harry. Thirteen: No. No No NO, Snape is NOT Harry's father. (not sure where THAT idea popped up from) Snape loved Lily so much, his patronus matched hers. Lily's patronus was a doe because her love/husband James's was a stag. >sigh< "Ine The Books" is a phrase that's getting worn out (sorry) but in the books, Lily and Snape were childhood best-friends, but Snape started hanging around "the wrong crowd" at Hogwarts, pushing Lily away, until in a fit of anger he called her a "mudblood", and that sort of ended the friendship. Fourteen: No, Harry is NOT "asking himself these questions". -Magic-... remember? Harry is in a quasi-space between life & death, so Dumbledore can reach back past-the-veil, and carry on this REAL conversation, in Harry's head. Fifteen: Narsissa lies and says Harry is dead, because she knows it's the ONLY way she's going to be able to get into the castle, and protect her son. At that moment she chooses motherhood over her loyalty to Voldermort. Sixteen: "In The Book" (sorry!) Harry doesn't snap the elder-wand, after using it to fix his own wand (broken by Hermione in Godric's Hollow) he decides to put it back in Dumbledore's grave.

Another thing that took me a while to understand was that Narcissa had asked Harry if Draco was still alive. Harry slightly nodded and in that moment, she realized that there was still a chance to save her family and proceeded to lie about Harry being dead. I'm sorry but I have to say this, firstly the "friendzone" is nothing. It is an idea that women will inevitably reward kindness with sex when, from a woman's point of view, you can feel a sense of betrayal because someone you honestly believed to be your friend actually just wanted something from you and when they find out it's something you're not willing to give they get angry at you and leave because the friendship that mattered to you didn't actually matter to them or they keep pressuring you for more when that's not how a true friend would ever treat another friend. Now, when it comes to Snape and Lily, yes, they were friends when they were younger but when Snape turned to the dark arts, Lily wanted nothing to do with him anymore so he wasn't even "friendzoned", he was no longer in her life. Despite this, Snape still loved her and, so, when he found out that Voldemort intended to attack, and most likely kill her, he felt compelled to do everything in his power to keep her safe; not because he believed she would then want to be with him or because it would change her view of him but because he couldn't live with himself if he stood by and let her die. Snape knew she was happy without him and his motivation for becoming a spy was purely to allow her to remain that way.

Every time I think of Movie-Snape versus Book-Snape, I just consider them different characters entirely, even though I like both just fine. Like, Movie-Snape is older and more mature and lethally calm, capable of taking any situation in with a level head and responding appropriately, whereas Book-Snape is literally still very young, very explosive in his rage(over parental abuse, betrayal, harassment, Harry's dad and his buddies sexually assaulting him at school, etc...) and way too emotional to function like a normal person cuz he never got any sort of closure or help as a kid. Cuz no one, not even Headmaster Dumbledore who allowed all that harassment to go on under his roof, offered to help. Movie-Snape is begrudgingly the tragic hero who dedicated himself to the memory of the only friend he ever had as repentance for making terrible decisions in response to the abuse he suffered through. In fact, Movie-Snape's behavior is mostly shown as being Dumbledore's fault by the end, and while Dumbles IS the recurring problem among all these characters(Voldy, Snape, AND Harry), the movies really wanted to paint Snape in a more forgiving light. Book-Snape is the anti-hero who hates everyone and himself and simply does what he believes his former friend would have done, as a way of paying her back for sticking up for him for so long and then him burning the bridge between them(while he was being sexually assaulted tho). He put Lily on such a high pedestal cuz she was the rich girl in the otherwise poverty-stricken neighborhood, who was kind to him unlike her racist and classist sister. She was friends with him despite how poor he was, and she defended him for years against people like Harry's father who insisted that Snape HAD to be evil and deserved to be sexually assaulted, simply because he wanted to go into the same Hogwarts House as his abused mother. Basically, Book-Snape is an asshole who does the right thing and doesn't expect anyone to ever find out. He's not looking for pity or forgiveness and is cruel to everyone around him because he was never given a chance to heal from his traumas(that were caused by everyone around him). He doesn't care about anyone's feelings and doesn't even think highly of himself either. He just gets the job done as Dumbledore wanted him to, and then dies unforgiven.

Harry came back from the dead for several reasons. First because of the magical protection that his mother put on him when she sacrificed herself to save him. And second is because Harry was a horcrux of Voldemort. Every horcrux that Voldemort had all put up a powerful fight in order to stay alive. In part one of Deathly Hallows while Harry was knocked out unconscious when he was on the motorcycle with Hagrid you see his wand defend Harry against Voldemort all by itself. That was actually the horcrux inside of Harry that was fighting while Harry was knocked out cold. When Harry went into the Forbidden Forest to allow Voldemort to kill him, Voldemort actually killed the horcrux inside of Harry. That is why only Voldemort had to be the one to kill him. And such an impact could have killed Harry but Harry made the choice to live and because of Lily's magical protection it made it even easier to return. The prophecy that was in the Department of Mysteries in Order of the Phoenix explains it a tiny bit. Unfortunately, you really have to think about it but the answer was there. The one to vanquish the Dark Lord has a power he doesn't understand. Voldemort not only not understand wand lore, he didn't understand Lily's magical protection of "Love" on Harry and he also never understood that Harry was one of his own horcruxes. Voldemort's downfall was a triple trifecta. The Dark Lord never had a chance. 🪄💖💀👍 BTW, the Resurrection Stone does Not bring you back to life or brings any dead person back to Life. The stone only bring back the ghost of the dead. Plus Harry purposely dropped the Resurrection Stone in the Forbidden Forest to be lost forever before meeting Voldemort.

Harry also survived because he was the true master of the Elder Wand & the wand was not going to kill its master. Harry won the loyalty of the Elder Wand when he disarmed Draco at Malfoy Manor. Voldemort may have been using it but it truly belonged to Harry so when Voldemort used it to cast the Killing Curse at Harry the curse killed the part of Voldemort’s soul that was in Harry, not Harry himself.

Interestingly, wind chimes can keep evil away or invite it, depending on if you enjoy the sound. If the sound makes you content, it can help you relax and bring a little joy, driving away negative feelings. If you hate the sound, it just constantly annoys you, driving you insane. Slytherins aren't bad people, they are just corrupted by a bad philosophy. They have their own house because they have a specific set of talents and skills, not because of their political views or that of their parents. One of the best examples (apart from Snape) is Horace Slughorn, who is a charming, supportive and peaceloving fellow with a very sensible conscience, even more so than Dumbledore. That he advances pupils of great promise only, the smart and the diligent, is a trait that put him in Slytherin, he is choosing them by merit, not bloodstatus. Slytherin needs a reformation, not a removal. Slughorn as Head of House would be able to achieve this after the war.

The movie does not capture the true problem with the "off to the dungeons" scene. In the books, MacGonagall gives the older Slytherin students a choice whether they want to fight for the school or stay in the common rooms (which are by the dungeons) but it is also acknowledged that most of them would not do so, because they all have relatives amongst Voldemort's followers. In the end the only Slytherin in the school fighting against Voldemort is Horace Slughorn.

If i am remebering correctly it's been more than a few years since i read it. The snatchers the ones that captured the three in the forest were in part glorified truant officers. They were given a list of students who didnt go back to school and they were told to capture them if found so they could be sent to Hogwarts. Attendance was mandatory and that was the way Voldermort was keeping many of the parents in line. Ron gave a false name in part because his parents dressed a creature up in Rons clothes (one that had been living in their attic) and claimed it was Ron with a rare disease that disfigured you and was super easy to catch.. I think it was called Spattergroit or something like that. So essentially Ron was thought to be sick (Keeping suspicion from him and his family), Hermoine being a muggleborn wasn't safe so (she obliviated her parents to keep them safe) and Harry well he's undesirable number one and hunted ( they sent his Aunt and UNcle and cousin off to be hidden with a trustworthy wizard in an unplottable location..i think) . This goes back to why Luna's Dad gave up the three when they came to talk about the hallows. All that to say, yeah they are all hostages and there is a backstory to it.

Lily didn't choose James just because of proximity. She actually disliked him a lot in their early years at Hogwarts. James Potter was vain, arrogant, and a bully. His family was extremely wealthy and he had everything he wanted. He was also very good academically, and talented at Quidditch (good nutrition, a happy home life, and zero trauma probably helped). He grew up the only child of doting parents (a bit like Dudley). Over time he became more self aware, mature, and compassionate because of his time at Hogwarts, knowing people who had suffered in life (Lupin), or didn't have the love of family (Sirius). Once he developed that compassion, THEN Lily grew to love him. Snape was deep into the Dark Arts and he was a Death Eater. He was best buds with magical fascists, basically. So he surrounded himself with people who hated his friend (and love) Lily for being Muggle born. The ONLY reason he went to Dumbledore was because of the threat to Lily's life. Unlike the movie ("Hide her, hide them all!"), in the book Snape doesn't care what happens to baby Harry and definitely doesn't care if James dies. After Lily is murdered, Snape's remorse is all consuming and unbearable because HE is the one who spied and overheard the first part of the prophecy and told Voldemort. He spends the rest of his life making up for his part in her death. He still had an intense dislike for Harry. Snape is a bit of a hard character to reconcile. He could be spiteful, arrogant and cruel, but also brave, determined, remorseful and self sacrificing. Makes for such a great end to the story.

Slytherin's aren't evil. The movies just painted them in that light because of Voldemort and the Malfoy's. In most time periods, before Voldemort's time there really was no issue with then, and even after there really wasn't. They have had a handful of evil wizards through out the history of hogwarts. Ravenclaw has had a few, and even Gryffindor has had one or two. Only Hufflepuff has had no evil wizards. Slytherin just get a rough rap because they are stubborn and not the most friendly. Doesn't mean they are evil.

The Resurrection Stone does NOT "bring you back after you die." If you hold it in your hand, you can bring the spirits of those you love best back to you, but they'll only be spirits, and if you use it too often, you go mad with longing and eventually kill yourself. Similarly, having the Elder Wand is essentially an invitation to others to come and try to take it from you in combat. Most people who have owned the Elder Wand have died violently (including Dumbledore). Did you not listen when Hermione read us the tale of the Three Brothers in the last movie? LOL

Willow was portrayed by actor Warwick Davis. He also played the first Gringotts Bank goblin Harry met with Hagrid in the first film (Verne Troyer played the Goblin who opened the vaults, but Warwick provided the voice). He also played Professor Flitwick, both in the white-haired makeup in the first film and later in the black-haired makeup in the in subsequent films, including this one. Personally, his portrayal of the Gringotts Bank goblin who escapes Malfoy Manor to the Shell Cottage (where Dobby dies and where Warwick's character horse-trades his help getting into Bellatrix's vault for the Sword of Gryffindor) is his best acting work. Did you notice that Snape, in his wand-duel with Professor McGonagall, didn't fight back? He blocked, but did not attack. He blocked in such a way as to knock out the Carrow sibling behind him. That flourish before going through the window was Snape taking the Carrows' wands. Filch did not call Professor McGonagall 'mom'; he called her 'mum'. In the UK, you refer to your female betters as 'mum'; like your employer or a high-status woman. The Queen was called 'mum' by all her subjects. Slytherins aren't 'bad' people. Professor Snape and Professor Slughorn are both Slytherins. House assignment is based on what you value. -Gryffindor: Bravery, helping others, and chivalry -Ravenclaw: Intelligence, knowledge, planning ahead, and wit -Hufflepuff: Hard work, patience, dedication, loyalty, and fair play -Slytherin: Ambition, determination, cunning, heritage, and resourcefulness It's the ambition that leads some Slytherins to bad choices. As Dumbledore once said, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” I will repeat: The Resurrection Stone does not protect or revive. It can call back a spirit from the grave, but the spirit is increasingly tortured by staying in this world. They are neither dead nor alive, but caught between. The Resurrection Stone is badly named. Just because you can't touch something doesn't mean it isn't real. You can't touch love; is love real? Harry was right to destroy the Elder Wand. Whether the story of the Three Brothers was allegory or fact, the Elder Wand was a trap set by Death. The power-hungry and ambitious would do whatever's necessary to possess it. and it caused the death of its original owner. Just like the Resurrection Stone was a trap, not unlike the Mirror of Erised, where your dearest but selfish desire is within reach but unavailable, and it caused depression and death of its original owner. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The wand of Draco Malfoy was NOT taken by Voldemort; you're thinking of Lucius Malfoy's wand, which was taken and cracked under pressure while trying to kill Harry. Pay attention to the wands; it's a key to dealing with Voldemort. Wands choose the wizard. They lose respect for wizards/witches who are unable to maintain ownership of their wand; if you are disarmed of your wand, your wand will change allegiance to the winner of the struggle. Ordinarily this occurs in wand-duels, but it can also occur from one wrestling it out of the hands of another. Dumbledore knew this, and he worried about Voldemort getting the Elder Wand after Dumbledore's death. So he suckered Draco. Rewatch the Astronomy Tower scene in "The Half-Blood Prince": -Dumbledore weakened sends Harry to find Snape. -Draco shows up agitated and freaked out; he's supposed to kill Dumbledore, can't bring himself to, but knows Voldemort will kill him and his family if he fails. -Dumbledore knows Draco is terrified and hair triggered; Dumbledore pulls out his wand, saying, "I'll make it easy for you..." Dumbledore is not threatening with the wand, just holding it loosely. -Draco reflexively blasts the wand out of Dumbledore's hand, and it falls to the floor. Only Dumbledore and Harry see it; Draco is blind with panic. At this point, Draco is the new master of the Elder Wand, but doesn't know it; neither Draco nor Harry knows the significance of Dumbledore's wand, which just happens to be the most powerful wand in the world and Voldemort has been looking for it. -Wizards/witches can collect wands from any/all wand-duels they participate in, although it's a winner-takes-all situation. -Just because the wand(s) you are master of isn't traveling with you or on your person doesn't mean it isn't yours or that it will cease to obey you. You can leave your only wand at home in a drawer, but it still recognizes you when you come to collect it. -When they gathered up Dumbledore for burial, they also gathered up the wand they always saw him using and interred it with him. But it's still Draco's wand. And Voldemort taking it from Dumbledore's grave doesn't change that; Draco never gave leave for the wand to serve Voldemort. Part two of the change of ownership: -During the escape from Malfoy Manor, Harry ran over and wrestled away Draco's wand; the intent was to disarm those trying to keep them captive. -By disarming Draco of his wand, Harry became master of ALL of Draco's wands, including the wand he didn't know he was master of; this was verified by Ollivander when he checked Draco's wand. One last bit of wandlore: Wands cannot be compelled to kill their masters; you would have to first win it by disarming its owner. -Draco never knew he had been the master of the Elder Wand. -Voldemort never knew the Elder Wand had changed allegiance to either Draco or Harry; he assumed Snape had disarmed Dumbledore before killing him. -Voldemort also assumed you had to KILL the previous owner to assume mastery over their wand, but you only have to disarm them and you don't even have to duel them to do so. -Dumbledore effectively blocked Voldemort from being able to kill Harry with the Elder Wand. -When Voldemort uses the Elder Wand to cast the Killing Curse, he instead kills the piece of Tom Riddle's soul that had resided in Harry all these years, freeing Harry from his link to Voldemort. This was Dumbledore's plan all along.

Hi sir. I’ll try to explain some key points for you because the movie doesn’t explain a lot very well. First, patronuses can change to resemble a person you’re in love with. The books touch on this. The movies never do. But that’s why Snspe’s patronus comes to match Lily’s. Second, when Narcissa leans over Harry to see if he’s dead, she’s asking Harry if Draco is alive. When he slightly nods yes to her, she is relieved and lies to Voldemort, saying Harry is dead. She was a true follower until V put her baby in danger. Then all bets were off. Third, the resurrection stone does not resurrect you. In the tale of the three bros, it says the second brother used it to recall his lost love. But she was cold and didn’t belong here, so he let her go and then offed himself. The stone let Harry see his loved ones so he could find the strength to face death. It did not bring him back. There are also several reasons Harry did not die. First, Voldemort’s curse killed the horcrux instead. Second, Voldemort used Harry’s blood to resurrect himself, in essence tying Harry to life because his mother’s protection lived on inside Voldemort. Third, Voldemort was using the elder wand, which would resist killing its true master. In the books, Ron and Hermione grabbed ALL of the fangs. The movie just didn’t waste screen time showing more than one. What’s interesting too is that Voldemort found himself unable to kill or curse anyone at Hogwarts after he “killed” Harry. This is because Harry sacrificed himself to save them all, in essence casting the same protective spell his mother had cast on him. By killing an unarmed, willing Harry, V neutered himself in combat against everyone on Harry’s side. As for Harry being carried back to the castle “dead,” he was just playing possum and waiting for the right moment. I do recommend reading the books or getting the audio books. There are a lot of fun side stories and details, things are explained much better, and Voldemort’s death scene is more satisfying, imo.

great catch bro, the Goblin WAS played by Warwick Davis who played Willow in Willow, he played the Leprechaun in the Leprechaun franchise, and he played Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars Episode 6. fun fact he was in the first movie doing two roles, he was the Goblin escorting Harry and Hagrid to the vaults and he was the Wingardium Leviosa teacher.

Another thing the movie got wrong: McGonagal does not order the Slytherin students to be taken to the dungeon. Instead, she has them led out of the school to Hogsmead for safety along with younger students. Of course, most of them returned -- including Slytherins -- to fight for Hogwart's. Dumbledore deepened on McGonagal and all the professors to protect the students and that's what they did. That's why he brought back Slughorn to be Slytherin;s head of household; He knew that when Snape killed him (as Dumbledore asked him to do), he could no longer stay at Hogwart's and he needed a Sytherin he could trust to treat the students right. And Slughorn lived up to that trust. BTW: Filch (the caretaker) as well as Mrs. Figg (Harry's neighbor who came to his aid in Order of the Phoenix) are squibs -- non-magical persons with at least one magical parent (wizard born muggle?). That explains some of Filch's behavior: his animosity toward Hogwart students (someone he was never invited to be) as well as his efforts to stay in Umbrage's good graces to keep from being forced to leave Hogwart's (like Trelawny, the Divination professor, whom Umbrage fired because she showed no evidence of magic. Little did Umbrage know that Trelawny's predictions were accurate -- including when she told Umbrage she was in gave danger! Trelawny spoke Harry's prophecy to Dumbledore years before Harry enters the story . This led to Dumbledore hiring her (for her protection?) as he worked on its layers of meaning.. He made some mistakes but Trelawny's prophecy helped him figure out how to defeat Voldemort. Another BTW: The prophecy could have been about Harry or Neville, both born at the end of July as the prophecy said. But it was Harry who got the lightning bolt scar so it was Voldemort who "marked him" --as the prophecy said -- and made him the chosen one. I don't remember if it was in the book, but I think it's interesting that it is Neville who first notices the prophecy with Harry's name on it. Also, It's significant I think that it is Neville who kills the snake, facilitating Voldemort's eventual demise.

The whole thing with albus and his siblings… I never got that lol. Albus was his teacher, his headmaster, and he shouldn’t be discussing his personal life with a student so it made perfect sense for Harry to not know personal details

13:03 it became mandatory to send your children. In the past you could homeschool your kids, but if you didnt show up, the death eaters woukd visit your home with unpleasant consequences. The sick part are the kids like Hermione, they would be arrested for "stealing magic from a witch or wizard" when they innocently thought they would have an amazing first day experience.

In Harry Potter it's easier to block magic than a melee weapon. the only thing that blocks Melee weapons is Protego. and thats not the most efficient thing. and with magic you could .. rebound.. catch.. reverse. and block it.

Don't forget the story of the deathly hallows. The whole thing about the wand was that it's power invited constant challenge and brought it's owners death. It was a trick to get the owner killed. The Stone was a trick to cause the owner to obsess over the loss of loved ones which is why the guy offed himself orginally. The cloak was basically the only safe option. So yeah Harry got rid of the temptation of obsessing over the dead something he learned from Dumbledore with the mirror from the first movie. Dubledore in a way may have given in to the stone. He wore it constantly after he rid it of Voldemorts bit of soul and people have surmissed he used it to speak with his dead sister. The wand which was coveted by Voldemort was basically the reason why Dumbledore was targeted for deletion by the death eaters that and him standing ion the way to Harry. Harry destroyed the wand to end the cycle of violence because even if he didn't use it and just hide it away he would have been targeted for it eventually.

The thing about all the filler in the movies is that the books were like 75% side stories and 25% main plot. When making the movies they had to cut most of the side stories but kept enough not to piss off all the book readers..

If you want more of the Wizarding World (official name of the HP universe), then you should check out the movie Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them. While Harry Potter takes place in the 90’s, Fantastic Beasts takes place in 1926. It’s 2 sequel movies take place in 1927 and 1932. The third movie just came out last year. There are plans for 2 more movies with the finale taking place in 1945. If you want to go back even more in time then the game Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the 1890’s, a century before the HP movies.

16:15, the movies give a much simpler view of the houses and the sort of people in them than the books (and, to be fair, the books kind of overly simplify that part, too).

Snape loved Harry's mother, but he was not Harry's father. Harry was killed, but he came back - not sure but I think it was a combination of the resurrection stone and the fact that he had a bit of Voldemort in him that had didn't die permanently. He got rid of the wand because he believed it was far to dangerous for anyone to have.

The Slytherin thing. So not all Slytherin are bad, BUT "there's not a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin". Which also isn't necessarily true because Wormtail was a Gryffindor.

Slytherin house wizards aren’t automatically evil, just ambitious. People mistake what Ron said in the first movie to mean that every witch or wizard in Slytherin goes bad, but what he said was that every witch or wizard who went bad came from Slytherin. Not the same thing. Lily was friends with Snape, but he was so antisocial and bullied so much that he joined the second generation of Death Eaters who were at Hogwarts during those years and was fully committed, except where Lily was concerned. She ended her friendship with him because of that and Snape blamed himself for her death, because he was the one who I ever heard the prophecy about Voldemort and Harry and told Voldemort about it. The books go into detail on this. The ghosts that appear with the resurrection stone are not from the imagination, they come from then it of magic energy that clings to witches and wizards from people they love. Part of Harry’s parents, Sirius and Lupin are still with Harry and the stone gave them form and agency to speak what they needed to tell him. Same with Dumbledore being inside Harry’s head when he passed out. Dumbledore was really called forth from whatever afterlife there is to talk to Harry because of the connection that exists in this world’s magic. It was only happening inside Harry’s head, but it WAS really happening there. Malfoy’s mom lied to Voldemort about Harry being dead because she no longer cared about Voldemort winning, she just wanted her son to survive. The book gives more to this scene that allows her to sell the lie better. During the final fight, because the Elder wand belonged to Harry already, it refused to harm him, but it couldn’t completely backfire on Voldemort because he still had one horcrux left in the snake, and so he couldn’t die. Harry and Voldemort were getting nowhere with each other. Once the snake died, the wand allowed him to push Voldemort’s curse back into himself, allowing him to die. In the book, Harry uses the Elder wand to repair his old wand and then hides it back in Dumbledore’s tomb, in the hope that whoever it’s master is will someday die a normal death, breaking its tie to wizards and rendering it useless. In this film, Harry breaks it so that no other people die fighting to get hold of it, as has been its entire history.

Arhur's mother, Tonks' mother, Horace Slughorn all good Slytherins. Slytherins being sent to the dungeons: where else? That's where their common room and dorms are! Snape is Harry's father? so what were all the people who 1st met Harry say 'you look like your father except for your eyes'. No-one metioned he looked like Snape.

Snape is not Harry's father. Harry looks exactly like James Potter except for his eyes. He has his mother's eyes. Harry looking just like James Potter is the reason why Harry thought he saw his father cast the Patronus charm that saved him and Sirius from the Dementors in Prisoner of Azkaban.

James Potter is Harry's father, Snape was a Death Eater who secretly turned on Voldemort when Lily Potter was going to be killed, Snape was too late however and therefore Snape wanted to save what little of her remained. of course while he saw Lily's eyes in Harry, the rest was reminiscent of James, a man who Snape hated, hence why he and Harry never really got along. this is why Snape is ultimately the deepest character in the Harry Potter franchise, and we didnt know that until the end.
