I had to click as soon as I saw the video. BYOB is my favorite SOAD song. The song uses the tension between the intensity and the melody to convey the message just as much as the lyrics do. The song is pretty obviously about wars and the fact that elites sell us on the wars, like it is cool and noble and something we need to be involved in, but they will never fight in the wars they start. This came out early in the Global War on Terrorism (Iraq and Afghanistan). This song also speaks to me the further removed I get from my military service. I think a lot of GWOT veterans are in the same boat, questioning if we should have been involved and what the true reasons were. The sad thing is, at work there are some young veterans just out of the military and a couple of them said they got out but they were hoping we would go in to Ukraine amd fight Russia and they would have reenlisted if we did. All I can really do is listen and know that in another ten years, they will likely be thinking the same things as me and questioning the wisdom of the crap our leaders stir up and get us involved in. To be clear, some conflict is necessary and we need men and women to answer the call, but we should not have been in Iraq, and we should have hunted Osama bin Laden down, but not gotten involved in an ill advised attempt at nation building in Afghanistan. That was a noble cause turned into a cash cow for the contractors at the expense of American (and Afghan) lives that only further radicalized people.

Oh brother. I have the ticket stub to prove when System open up for Fear Factory. Atlanta 1998. Bro they were unknown? Guitarist had gold glitter all over his body and a tiny sliver of green hair? The singer Serg...came out fully hairdo looking homeless tore the stage up! Went on to beast! They have alot to say as well as rage against the machine. Ninja bonus...Serg has songs with Buckethead.....yeah..i know.... Buckethead does not play. Wait? He does? He shreds! This was my introduction to SOAD. Forever beautiful in my 44 year old brain. Oof, a live version. Live versions are always so much worse. Daron was way too loud in that mix, or whatever it's called if it's called something different while live on stage, and he does a bad job with the screams in this one. I'm sure it's easier to play a live video though than the official music video without copyright nonsense. I dooubt you actually take suggestions from the comments, not really worth it if you have paid ways for people to submit suggestions, but I'm not sure so I checked through all the SoaD songs you've done and out of what you haven't done I'd say; As always, when possible the official music videos will always be superior when the song has one, both in how the mix is and the videos themselves often carry a lot of extra context, meaning, and all of that. Aerials Highway Song (this one is a bit lesser than other solid picks, but it's nice and straightforward and still good all the same) Question! Sad Statue (This is one of those songs that's really good, but it could've been almost a full minute shorter, honestly) Lost In Hollywood Soldier Side Lonely Day

A lot of system of a down’s message from their mezmerize and hypnotize albums basically state that what america is doing right now (at the time upon release), is a really bad things and then 9/11 happened. all of their music was stripped from radio after the tragedy but they could look towards the government and said “hate to say it but we told you to”. they haven’t released an album in years though, great band

I consider Congressman Kennedy a national treasure. It’s sad, though, that what he said should be applauded because it should be expected. It should be the attitude of all civil servants. However, you may notice that even a congressman such as Kennedy often speaks of the government with distrust. I believe we as Americans need to be reminded that the government is supposed to work for us, not the other way around. When a tragedy like this occurs, especially where terrorism is involved, it shouldn’t even be a question whether or not the government is going to tell us things. It should be automatic. It should be expected. So sad that it isn’t. And every American knows it isn’t.

It's not just about the President. It's all leaders who choose war but don't have to participate or lay down their lives. The rich escape the consequences of their decisions while the poor pay for it all. Then, we pretend that we care about those soldiers/vets while refusing adequate care for them and continuing to vote for the people who choose war and defund care.
