My old man was born in 1930, fought in Korea, loved country music , hated most Rock but always got in a good mood when he heard the Doobie Brothers.

Doobie Brothers were one of our towel-under-the-door 1970s dorm room glories. I get a mild flashback buzz just hearing anything by the Doobie. 😂❤

Doobie Brothers -- worth digging into their catalog, for sure. Some of the best of the period, which is some of the best music ever made.

Glad you found this rendition of the Doobie Brothers... this is one of their best tunes... but honestly they are full of talent. Mostly from San Jose and Santa Cruz CA - they all can play multiple instruments.

Pat started the riff and Tyron the bass player jumped in. It started about 1970 and Tom would riff the words every night. This was 80-84 era and I saw them live twice on this tour. What JOY live

Played the (the vinyl) this song was on until it wouldn’t play ‘no more’!! Doobies were so popular in the 70s.. I think this live performance is from the early 80s, and this is Cornelius Bumpus (keys and sax) singing. Tom Johnston was the original lead singer, and was who sang this song on the album. Michael McDonald joined them after Tom Johnston left in late 70s, due to health issues. Michael did most of the leads through the 80s, then Tom rejoined the band. They’re still touring.. great band with tons of really great music. Thanks for your reaction!!

I love watching some of the live concerts as the group has gotten older. They still play hard, sound good, and seem to enjoy being on the stage. They are one of the bands who had (have) talented multi-instrumentalists.

One of my favorite bands. Multiple lead singers, but all solid. A lot of people think Michael MacDonald was the best, and I love his voice, but really like the earlier songs like China Grove and Blackwater best.

One of my favourite songs from one of my favourite bands! As others have mentioned, multiple lead singers, over the top talent. Definitely dive into the Doobie Brothers, I think you will love the journey. As for other bands with drum solos, may I suggest Rush? Neil Peart, one of the all time best drummers ever.

The doobies can rock hard, they had some MOR hits, they had some R & B and soul moments. They were multi instrumental and always featured strong harmonies. I recommend "Jesus is just alright with me" live. And "China grove," of course.

You should check out Joe Satriani's Made of Tears Live... No drum solo but the melody may indeed produce tears. Also Charles Berthoud does an amazing cover of a song you have probably heard before "Just the Two of Us", It used to play on the radio ALL the time roughly 20 years ago.

Thank you sir! This is definitely an amazing song! And this is one of the best live performances of all time. This is a KILLER track...but... For maximum effect, you really need to have the studio version in your ears, at least once before you leave this mortal coil. Taking NOTHING away from this performance... Love, love, LOVE this band. Next from their catalog I CHEAT THE HANGMAN One of the best fade out/fade in transitions .... Similar to the full length version of Blue Oyster Cult's DON'T FEAR THE REAPER (I see for the first time in my 63 years this connection, thematically and titular...huh!)

The Doobie Brothers started out as a Southern Rock type band and they were great. After lineup changes and music direction changes they became an AM rock/pop rock band and they just weren't as good as they used to be. I had to let them go. They were more commercially successful then but I thought they sold out.
