One income will not be able to buy a home or comfortably pay rent again. The boomers received Reverse Mortgages. When they pass, those homes are going back on the market. They're going to double in price to sell or rent. It's over. If married, both incomes will be required from now on.

I agree each person’s variation of the American dream is as different as they are similar. Speaking for myself and my wife it was simple. Elevate ourselves from the shit we were both raised in and around. Not partying was never a sacrifice for us because we’ve never been that type. It took us 18 years but we have gotten to where we wanted. From chaos and personally being a homeless kid to raising my kids to hear about that life instead of living that life of family violence and poverty. Built our house in 2019, with a nice big pool in the back for our future grandkids and now empty nesting playing with our grandson. And now when me and my wife are gone our 2 kids have a million dollar house outside of Nashville at their disposal for whatever they decide when the time comes. Is it harder??? Most definitely. Is it still possible??? Most definitely.

Which is why millions came to the Americas and why millions died to fight for it. Giving up on your country because things are hard is a understandable position but the absolute worst. When times get tough you have to hold the people in charge accountable, and work to improve it. Rome Lasted for 2k years because people didn't give up when times got tough. What equality are we referring to? 99% of the fiat currency resources are owned by less than 1% of the population in the US. The middle class has been getting drained for years and corporations and the more affluent are buying up everything. Where I live in the western US 70% of all housing are rentals, and owned either by major corporations or folks with more resources. Housing could be fixed with restricting corporate ownership of housing and limiting rentals in a geographic area. The overall problems with the economy and companies that contribute nothing to the overall economy could be fixed by finally dealing with monopolies and preventing corporations like Amazon from owning 700 sub-corporations.

The American dream to own a home was doable through the 1980s, I turned 30 in 1985 and my husband and I were able to buy a home just outside of Sacramento on a modest single income. The price of things really started escalating in the 90s with tech startups pushing the economy. Then in 1999 the Clinton administration passed the financials modernization act and largely destroyed the financial futures of most Americans and it was what caused the economic collapse in 2006 - 2010 that we will never recover from until the financial modernizations act is repealed. All those foreclosed homes created the monster companies buying up homes as investment vehicles for hedge funds to invest in; there are about a dozen companies that have bought up over 400,000 homes and taken them off the market and companies like Blackrock invest in these companies. This is part of UN agenda 2030, the goal is to move everyone off the land, get them use to being renters - eventually happy to live in more affordable high density high rise apartments. As part of this same plan the UN is facilitating all the migration that is going on - the UN has there own migration website - it is part of the globalists agenda to equalize world economic outcomes.

@@LordLOC I think you're forgetting that men build infrastructure out of nothing. That's called human capital. Men generally don't need money because we make the things that cost money. Ideally, the only thing a man should need money for is to pay taxes on land and property, otherwise, he should be able to live off the land. Women are much more dependent on the things that cost money, and less likely to be able to live off of the land. I'm not saying men don't like things that cost money, I'm saying that worst case scenario, men will just create the things they need and skip money entirely. Women are dependent on money to acquire things that men make. That's why the cost of living is so hard to reduce when cohabitating with women. When inflation goes up, women have no choice but to pay, but men can just leave the system entirely if they're alone.

The concept of GNP/GDP was developed during the Depression and WWII. Economists don't talk about NNP/NDP. We have not been told the annual depreciation of automobiles since Sputnik. We don't know how much potential wealth has been trashed since then. Search Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations for "and account". Smith wrote about education, he wrote "read, write, and account." But 50% of Brits were illiterate in 1776 they could not have made accounting/finance mandatory in the schools. The US could have done that since Sputnik. Instead the American Dream has had us going into debt for junk designed to become obsolete and economists ignoring the depreciation of durable consumer goods that did not exist in the times of Smith and Marx.

If you buy land, it might not be perfectly manicured, but need you to clear it. You might have to build the infrastructure yourself, know plumbing, electric, carpentry... all the things, in order to still reach your goals, which isnt easy. Going after money or knowledge to achieve your goals or something else, never stop dreaming and working toward it, even if it is HARD. We just have to be smart and think outside the box in order to reach them.

the American dream is different for every NOW. The stereotypical American dream was it. Now we have to just accept what we can and force ourselves to like and call it the American dream 🤢🤮

Its been over. 2008 is the end. For years the majority shamed and degraded the skepitcs and were in denial as they'veblowing the whistle. You're welcome. It's not C19. It's been over. The final nail was instagram. Even without Effinism, we'd be here, it just made it harsher and faster.

I hate to say it but i blame our parents being more interested in the bulls than globalization. We noticed in the early 2000s an influx of international college kids which brought along less job opportunities. The later generations are now realizing the lack of opportunity in the u.s.

Nope all wrong. The problem is capitalism period. There are 10 empty houses for every 1 homeless person in this country. It’s treating everything as a commodity is the problem. It’s not that prices needed to go up. It’s greed from the top

It's a shame many on the right (and some on the left) love capitalism. The "radical left" and some on the right rightfully understand how capitalism has run its course at this point (hence the late-stage capitalism thing) but each side has their own crazy ideas of how to change things - everything from socialism being brought in more to the economic systems (which would be the best way honestly) to communism, anarchism and everything in between at this point.
@de14jabsАй бұрын
What we have today is corporatism and oligarchy, not capitalism if anything it's late stage capitalism which is stakeholder capitalism beholden to share holders and not consumers. The market doesn't get to decide when there's corporate lobbyists making it harder for smaller companies to start or expand. Monopolies have been solidified and that's why companies like Google or blackrock have such control of policy by bypassing governments and funding protests or advertising campaigns. It's corporatism.

90% of the time, guys just don't want to work like men in the past. It hurts feelings, but it's true. There are plenty of hard jobs that pay more and more as men get softer.

It isn't just men, it's women also. Zoomers (and gen alpha) think everything should be handed to them on a silver platter, and if it's not on their phone or laptop or doesn't have a QR code they can't understand it or deal with it it seems.

The problem that the average person has is that they are doing jobs that are easily done by someone else. Non skilled work is going to naturally have less income.
@Mike-b6l8oАй бұрын
The people agreed 2 capitalism because the government promised jobs with living wages. No more living wages people should just go back to living off the land off grid. And stop paying taxes. Or rich folks better hire 24/7 security. Most people will always only work jobs that Most other people can do also. It's always been like that so what's your point. If folks aren't giving a reasonable way 2 make it then they'll just take it. Or just drop out and away.
@relishcakes4525Ай бұрын
@user-kf3pu1vy9h my point is that there are more people now than then, especially with women in the work force. Naturally the value of that labor is going to be less. I'm not saying that corporate greed isn't an issue. I am however saying capitalism isn't the "big bad" the younger generation makes it out to be.
@Mike-b6l8oАй бұрын
@relishcakes4525 true thnx 4 clarification. Corporate greed internationally inflated the prices which made more women work which allowed jobs 2 pay less while the government could collect more taxes.
