There are a few key weapons I like to hunt for when doing a blade sin playthrough. My main focus is finding a: 4→6 Socket 1 hand Weapon with 4x Eth runes for -100% target Defense: Any 1h 4 socket weapon will work, and Crystal swords found in the Nightmare Far Oasis, or onwards, will receive 6 sockets from larzuck if you wanna burn a quest for it. You can use the 2x extra sockets for any extra mods you’d like to socket, I like using 2x P Skulls for 8% LL and 6% ML, or you could use 2x P amethysts for a decent chunk of attack rating, lots of possibilities. I personally think this is the best option, since it works on all monsters, including bosses, albeit reduced by 50%. Using 4-5 socket blunt weapons can be great for that 50% undead damage multiplier as well, it can be a good chunk of damage earlier game. other great options are: A Claw with either: Ignores Targets Defense: spawns on ilvl 25+ magic katars, or a claw can be bought from normal anya fairly quickly, but only works on normal mobs or Fools Mod (+max dmg/+ Ar per lvl): spawns on any ilvl 50+ magic claw, it can also be bought from nightmare anya, if you’re lvl 45+ Fixing the attack rating through target defense is a great way to fix up the chance to hit for these skills, and since your damage mostly comes from skill levels, not the weapons damage, it can be used all the way through to hell.

Blade Assassin should almost always use a Claw since the +% Damage scales the base damage of the Blade skills on top of increasing the weapon damage.

@@MulletPower75 Claw Mastery does not increase the damage of the Blade Skills at all, even when using a Claw. You don't benefit from the attack rating or crit chance, and blade skills only gain 75% of a weapons unboosted raw damage. You can stack dext for both AR and Dmg when using a claw, but until you have end game gear, you kinda need the health. None of the blade skills get any inherent bonus from using a claw, other than what the claws may provide for stats vs other weapons you have available. I'm not saying 4x eth rune weapon is BIS for end game, but its easy to obtain in a solo single player, and none of the early game runewords are amazing for the bladesin. The Blade skill's biggest issues are that they have terrible attack rating and you can't hit anything in hell. This is the easiest way to fix that in my experience of playing the char. Can't get insane attack rating with the skills without end game gear, so just remove all the monsters defense instead.

Quick hint - for the cost of some cheap farmable runes that you can get potentially Nightmare, Hustle as an off-hand claw for a two claw setup is literally the second best damage option (and a very strong AR option) for a bladesin, short of a Phoenix shield - that fanaticism aura does a lot of work. (You want it as an offhand so it doesn't trigger the BoS, though.) You can also potentially get some of your utility skills (Cloak of Shadows, Mind Blast) on the claw itself to save skill point investment! An early Blood glove recipe can get you some much-needed CB and life steal to make bosses drop quickly - and Goblin Toes can be a reaalllly nice drop too. Double Lawbringer on an act 5 merc will get you through anything annoyingly immune (Just a shame that the bone break sunder charm is really quite rare!) Any decent damage rare claw will get you through until you get something insanely good; if you're trading, Plague is a very strong contender, Chaos is better, but the absolute ideal is a cruel, fools, 2 socket, ethereal war fist, 'OhmOhm'. (But if you get that drop, you might want to go put on a lottery ticket...) ... bladesin is one of my favourite builds, if you hadn't guessed.

sigs: gloves, belt, boots (30%ias, attack rating, 10%life steal, 50%mf, 20%frw, 40% cold res) Angelic's: armor, ammy and ring (20% dmg to mana, 1 to all skills, 75 to life, 50 to mana, 50% mf, attack rating 50% fire res) Cathan's: helm and ring (6% life steal, 10 to strength, adds 15-20 fire dmg, 20 to mana, regen mana 16%, 25% cold res) Shield: Swordback Hold (50% open wounds, attacker takes dmg of 10) Wep: Grisswold's edge (10%ias, attack rating, adds 12-24 fire dmg, knockback, 12 to strength) Made this run through super fun.. if you can farm these pieces before hand I highly recommend it. Thanks for the playthrough!! P.S. the knockback made this build hilarious and with all the life steal I don't even remember needing potions.

I'd recommend going for max block with a shield over dual wield claws. Offhand claws don't really contribute to blade skill damage other than +skills. The dex needed to reach max block helps with both AR and %damage that scales the flat damage from blade fury.

for end game, eth death ettin axe is one of the best if not the best weapon for this build with a phoenix. there's some other contenders like fury, but I still believe death is king for bladesin.

I've been playing around with this build, because I've always wanted to have blades be viable. One thing I love (that I don't know if you cover, because I'm pretty early in the video): Any amount of cold damage turns Blade Sentinel into a massive AOE slow. Huge for survivability and running away

My dream changes would be for blades to be standardized(no durability use, on striking), pierce chance on Blade Fury, and Blade Shield range +1(only hitstun at range 0). From there we just need more interesting claw uniques or runewords.

But late game though, I landed on an unlikely weapon, that when it dropped got me thinking. And BOY is it great. Gimmershred. My experience with Pattern early on and how effective+elemental damage actually was led me to experiment with gimmer and tiamats. It's actually brilliant. Shreds level 90 terror zones no matter what they are, regardless of resistance and with angelics it's rocking 200 mf and incredible AR. Total game changer for me.

Llama missed a bit of fun by switching back to Players 1. I kept it on Players 8 and went non stop to Baal. The only time I closed the game was to do a second Countess run, after that no farming, no back tracking, just straight to Baal on P8, killing as many demons as possible along the way. The fight against Diablo was maybe the most fun I've had in Diablo in years; running around, dodging attacks, trying to line up Sentinels to do the most damage. Still had to run back to town three times for more potions, but it was so damn satisfying when I killed him. I've never gone straight through before, no farming or grinding. It was surprisingly easy and a lot of fun with this character.

i've had a lot of fun with my full natalya's set blade assassin with bartuc's as the secondary weapon and a lot of enhanced damage jewels in the armor and helm bartuc's is a nice secondary weapon for everything it gives - since you only gain damage and secondary damage buffs from the primary weapon, the fhr, bonus AR, stats, and skills on tucs still at leas get applied. jade would be another nice one if you need the res, but fade is usually so good and puts your DR so high that you usually don't need it super fun build for solo play she can melt bosses like mephisto and diablo surprisingly fast

I noticed that someone asked if grief works with bladesin, and the answer is yes and no. because blade skills don't have % damage of the weapon, they don't get crazy multipliers of grief, so they benefit more from raw damage powerhouses like eth death ettin axe. And, on the wiki, it says that the +X damage from grief doesn't apply on blade fury, but says nothing about blade sentinel.

Nope. Attack Rating is one of the biggest struggles you'll generally have finding on your gear with Blade Sin. It used to not have any AR on the skills, which sucked.

Yeah like above mentioned AR is rough on blades. They added a 10% AR bonus for each skill point, but the problem is there is no flat AR addition, so the % doesn't help without stacking AR from items like angelics.

Bladesin actually does really well in hell if you stack the right stats like deadly strike, crushing blow, open wounds. It does really well even with budget stuff like fleshripper or lacerator.

I’m new to arpgs and diablo just beat hell with a blade assassin after like a week. I really enjoyed the game but I had some problems with it. I didn’t like how you can teleport back to town and heal anytime you want. It took all the excitement and challenge out of the game. Also wish it had an end game. Killing bosses a thousand times so I can kill the bosses even faster so I can get better gear to kill the bosses even faster isn’t exciting to me. I also thought the hell ancients fight was really dumb. It took like 25 minutes and was extremely tedious. Other than that I really enjoyed the experience but wish it could offer more

Assassin was the weakest? If that is so what does that make me when I finished D2 with trapsin 9years ago not prioritizing vitality? I just used traps for killing remotely far from the enemy then that shadow clone as the bait like how necros use golems. They just didn't see the potential I guess.
