I loved the 1st series best. Especially when Lovejoy broke the 4th wall and talked to the viewer. Also, Eric used to listen to Def Leppard on his Walkman. Classic.

Lovejoy was an AMAZING TV Show - even being here in the states I watched it religiously! The Cast was incredible, the writing brilliant and the subject matters were informative. It prob. is my all time fav TV Show. Much better than anything in the State. Tinker Dill was a unique & brilliant character & actor. GREAT locations. Ian is a consummate professional, gentlemen and well spoken / composed. AMAZING!

I always thought McShane was not really acting in Lovejoy--that he was just being himself. Now that I see him "au naturel," I realize what a great acting job he did. What a great, fun, instructive, family program "Lovejoy" was!!!

The relationship between Lovejoy and Lady Jane was mesmerizing. Couldn't stop watching. Saddest day of my life was hearing Phyllis Logan was leaving the show. Series Finale should have had Lovejoy and Lady Jane be together but did not. I saw Mr. McShane on Broadway and met him after the play. He signed my Lovejoy DVD. Loved meeting him. Reboot the show!!

If it were rebooted the makers would never be able to capture the feel of the original show. At best it would be a diluted facsimile, at worst it would be a 'woke' mess.

The 1985 series went out when I was 18 and at 54 I'm still catching up with the episodes I missed thanks to UK Gold. Wonderful cast, wonderful timing and wonderful entertainment. The set pieces are exactly what Shakespeare was doing in things like Merry Wives for me, great comic capers. I particularly like the Suffolk villages and it's rural English feel. Fan hyperbole apart, it's aged remarkably well, like a fine wine (as has Ian).

Watching Lovejoy takes me back to my childhood being a kid growing up in the later 80's/early 90s England. The nostalgia of seeing good old 90's England especially the cars and the clothing, hairstyles etc. The 90's was such a great decade to grow up in and I guess we were the last of our kind as kids. Kids nowadays will never know just how good those days were.
