Hey y'all!! A few things that I regretfully didn't talk about was how KZbinr music always seems it's best when its actively making fun of "KZbinr Music" tropes itself (Danny Gonzalez - SLIME & TMG - Knock It Off) but alas...sometimes I think of stuff after I already filmed everything lmao Anyways, let me know if I forgot anything else!! A lot of footage got left on the cutting room floor & there was TONS of music videos I gathered, but ultimately didn't use for time's sake (like how Annoying Orange has SO much music, in every single sub-category imaginable, but I didn't want 10% of the footage to just be Annoying Orange) - Regardless though, I hope you enjoyed!!🖤 (Up next I got some spooky stuff planned for October, so stay tuned for that!)

Love the shoutout. \m/ To join in a little bit with my own perspective here from the Music Tutorial side of YTMusic, I've been a fan of the Metal KZbin scene ever since I discovered Rob Scallon. I've also been a fan of non-metal musicians that do comedy tutorials. People like FrankJavCee and Dylan Tallchief are 2 big inspirations, the former introduced me to the beautiful world of Witch House, Extratone, Vaporwave, and Simpsonwave. I'm basically just a metal version of that, doing obscure microgenre to poke fun at the metal scene, and trying my best to recreate the sound. It was also an excuse to work on my songwriting skills. I love making music, and I'm glad it has found an audience. -Andri \m/

One you missed though you slightly touched on it is Fandom Music as a whole. While Minecraft is certainly an example, you also have more specific subcultures of shows, movies and games that have loads of talented musicians. FNAF, My Little Pony, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Star Wars, Marvel, all sorts of fandoms centered around big budget content that are revered in their communities and sometimes outside them. Living Tombstone managed to get his music in the FNAF movie which was an entire film dedicated to FNAF KZbin culture (not a perfect one but an ode nonetheless).

First off, I am LOVING that bumper music, and also Grimbeard reference! NICE! KZbin music's been a weird and wild thing, I was was lucky enough (or perhaps cursed enough) to get to be at the special watch party for the one and only time KZbin tried to host a music awards show back in what? 2014? The main things I remember about it was that for a KZbin-centric awards show there weren't really any KZbinr artists showcased with the big performances being Tyler the Creator, who did great with what they gave him, and Lady Gaga. The other thing that stuck out about that whole farce was the look on the CEO of Fullscreen's face when they utterly botched the pronunciation of Destorm's name when they gave him an award. I think Destorm was also the only home-grown musician who got an award; everything else went to Macklemore or up the big pop artists at the time.

I think its worth mentioning that quadeca is one of the few artists who started in the youtube rap scene, but grew to be recognized as one of the beat modern artists. He went from the ksi diss track to working with mainstream and beloved artists like danny brown, kevin abstract, breakance, and even the sunday service choir who worked with kanye. And in my opinion, hes still got a ways to go creatively, because it seems with every project his production gets better along with his lyricism. I may be pushing it a little, but i think hes progressed music more than any other artist to come out of the platform. With joji being extremely close.

Not sure if this fits into a category or should be it’s own but I think it’s definitely worth mentioning, is the KZbin Lofi music. Obviously Lofi Girl is most notable, but there’s hundreds of channels that have nonstop streams of Lofi music. They also have specific themes, a popular one being Lofi Minecraft music. I feel like many people don’t often add the songs to their Apple Music/Spotify libraries because it’s easy to just put on the endless KZbin livestreams but majority of the songs are done by an actual musical artist that doesn’t get the recognition as much as the channel does.

Finally a video on this topic that actually mentions all the facets and not justt he obvious punching bags! And while for the most part, as you said in this video, youtubers arent really doing music anymore outside of passion projects for the most part, i think one area of "content creators"/Streamers where the practice of releasing music is VERY much still alive, well and borderline a focus is the Vtuber sphere, where even indies often have one or 2 songs out, as well as frequent-ish covers, its almost baked so deep into the culture at this point that even folks who dont actually have much history with the topic and are mainly entertainers and/or gaming folk dabble in it, maybe out of obligation... Though arguably a major drive of this is that a lot of vtubers who end up going that route often were musicians or at least interested before they started their activities as an anime character lol. Lots of genuinely talented singers in the sphere... Though obviously theres also some really embarassing garbage coming out, but in general its where i think "youtuber music" is around in all its facets still and i was surprised it wasnt mentioned here

As someone who definitely works in music with youtubers and did well with it, I don't really agree with your assessment. The video was good. The industry has moved on from content creators because of how unviable it is. What would make one not understand this is not understanding how successful it was until a few years ago. I reached some lifelong goals doing it. They tried throwing millions at it.

I gotta shout out Joy Brooker, she had one random hit that went to over a million views and the rest kinda tanked but in my opinion her stuff is overall good quality when she isn't going full camp-mode. Her youtube channel is still up and has like 20 videos between 4 and 8 years old. I think "super cool girlfriend" is a fantastic song with quite a few twists and turns and "Oversharing is Caring" is hilarious in it's own criticizing social media way. She used to sell personal dedication songs but that type of business model is sure to drain someones creativity. She was featured on one of those talent show shows a while back, she was hired to dress up like a low budget anatomical heart, come out and do the whole singing telegram to Simon Cowell for his birthday.

When I saw the title of this video, it immediately reminded me of my favorite music KZbinr, Aaron Fraser-Nash. He makes funny song parodies about popular characters. He is legit the reason I got into the Scream franchise. He started out making parodies of songs, but has since just made originals, most of which are really good and catchy. One of my personal favorites is Ghostface from his 2020 Nightmare Album, which is the song that introduced me to Scream. The chorus just draws you in and is so catchy and creepy, and you should definitely take a listen to it. Sorry if I am making a big deal out of this song, it is just one of my favorites. The first song on the album, Freddy Krueger, made me crack up so much. I won’t spoil the reason why, you should just listen to it for yourself and you’ll see why I find it so funny. You should make a video reacting to Aaron Fraser-Nash.
