How to Install PS3HEN on Any PS3 on Firmware 4.91 or Lower!

PS3Xploit brings homebrew to all models of the PS3 in the form of HEN, short for Homebrew Enabler! PS3HEN works on ANY retail model of PS3 as long as your console is on firmware 4.91 or lower. This tutorial will walk you through the process of installing 4.91 HFW, a hybrid firmware build of 4.91 which will allow you to install and run the required files. After being installed, this will cover the actual installation of PS3HEN, homebrew installation, and some quick tips on how to use PS3HEN!
Although this tutorial was recorded on firmware 4.91, the installation process is the same on higher firmwares as long as all of the software needed has been updated. The only difference would be a higher version of HFW and PS3HEN would need to be used. If the video title and description shows a higher firmware number than what is shown in the video, that means PS3HEN and HFW have been updated for that specific version.
Keep in mind this is not the equivalent of a full custom firmware (CFW) or jailbreak! PS3HEN does not have the full access CFW contains, but much of the functionality people are looking for is available on PS3HEN. Not all homebrew will work on PS3HEN, some of it will require either resigning to 3.55 or will need an update from the author.
As a final warning directly from the PS3Xploit team themselves: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ENABLE FSM (Factory Service Mode) OR INSTALL CCAPI ON A PS3 WITH PS3HEN!

Some tips that might help someone: If you’re installing from safe mode and it says it cannot find the update on your USB.. make sure to please start and select, the disconnect your controller cable from the controller while it’s checking.

I really needed this. I have a Launch model PS3 that I jailbroke myself and loaded up with a bunch of goodies, but it sadly runs way too hot for my liking, and the CFW fan settings just ramp the fan up to almost max after a 10-15 minutes. I have a stock Super Slim PS3 that I made my main PS3 after I "retired" the Fat PS3 until I can get some new thermal paste, and I'm now planning on installing HEN on it thanks to this video.

To anyone running into issues despite being positive you followed the steps exactly, most likely all you have to do is unplug the controller. And if that doesn't work, unplug your USB. Fun fact : I've updated my second PS3 to a cfw after the job done all the buttons and the menu was like crazy moving clicks etc..like a possessed, I thought it was a problem with the firmware, after some test and digging it's was problem with my controller that I fixed with a cardboard between the battery and the motherboard.

Yeah it happenes, CFW exposes a lot of things in a good way tho😂 So for example if you haven’t cleaned your fans, or ever had a repast done! The fans will ramp up in speed and ps3 will get hot telling you that you need to clean the fans or get a repast done. Same with controls and disc games that are slightly scratched the ps3 will stop plying them or it’ll tell you when you try to back the game up that the data is invalid.

If you have cfw no need to do this. If you are on a higher firmware or a lower firmware you need to install a hen 4.91 below. So say your ps3 is on firmware 4.85 stock firmware, in order to jailbreak the console, is to follow the steps except with the Hen 4.85 firmware. It’ll install the same way however this is only for people who want to use different CFWs that are no longer supported. For example using Hen on a lower firmware is pointless so it’s always good for o update and install the current version.

I already have HEN, so just to clarify, when I update, I should ONLY use HFW updates, right? And after re-installation do I have to change anything or no? Edit: Should I log into PSN when using Package Manager-installed content, like games? sorry for the load of questions btw 😔
