Very good set of Eiffel tower elevator videos you have here! Kinda an odd placement for the operator guy in blue on the outside at 5;50!

The elevator machine on display, resembles a gear-less traction machine. I wonder why they did not go with installing gear-less traction machines, and deflector sheaves, thought the elevator traveled on an incline The system used was like a horizontal installation of a telescopic hydro elevator.

Probably because it's a very old tower (built 1889) so lift technology was very early then

Where is the Restaurant on the Eifel Tower ? Is There one at the top of the Tower or not ?
@mrmattandmrchay7 жыл бұрын
There you go... www.restaurants-toureiffel.com/en/58-tour-eiffel-restaurant/dinner.html It's on the first floor, but the small lifts go up to the second floor.

@@mrmattandmrchay The 58 one on the first floor is the "cheap" (er) one. The posh one the private lift goes to is called The Jules Verne Restaurant and is on floor 2.

Wow, I didn't know it was so HUGH and so complex.

It isn't until you go into the tower that you realise just how large the place is.

amazing to think people had built this with their own blood and sweat with such low safety. :)

OMG! Why is that guy hanging out underneath the lift at 4:27??? It's almost like he's surfing the bottom of the lift!!!
@mrmattandmrchay8 жыл бұрын
LOL - surfing the lift from underneath! This is a model of the "elevator operator" that controlled the lift back in 1890 something when the structure was completed.
@HungryGuyStories8 жыл бұрын
mrmattandmrchay Really? Wow! You mean he turned that wheel to make the lift move?!?!

How many of you know that the Eiffel Tower is built with a technology invented by the Romanian ingineer Gheorghe Panculescu? In Eiffel's archives there is a document called ''Communication sur les travaux de la tour de 300 m'' which gives credit to Panculescu's innovation and its crucial role to the completion of the tower. The structure was built between 1887-1889 using steel produced at Resita and Hunedoara (Romania) ;18.038 pieces of steel, joined together by over 2,500,000 rivets. Google it
