Rockstar because GTA worlds are always PACKED to the brim with content and Red Dead is also like this. And Nintendo because with their recent Zelda release and Super Mario Odessy coming out, they have proven themselves to be able to make some incredible open worlds.

I just can't get into these types of massive multiplayer games. I tried out destiny, didn't like it. I got the division, didn't like it. The idea of an epic adventure where you, and only you, are the badass hero/protagonist just appeals to me much more. As soon as I heard that bioware's new IP was labeled as a "destiny killer", I knew it wouldn't be for me.

I don't see how people still shit on Destiny, yes it had a horrible launch as a video game but after 3 years it got more than 30 Million monthly active players that each of them invested more than 600 hours on the game (1113 Hours for me) I mean i got the worth of my well spent money which not a lot of games do these days, last game i spent 100 of hours on is skyrim.

Yeah i understand that, the last game that had good coop and story was borderlands. But what you should understand that we're on a new era where multiplayer is the new thing not story, developers now choose Story or Multiplayer to work fully on, destiny had a short story but a shit ton to do in coop that's why it's still alive after 3 years and it's heading on a sequel. The first day people bought destiny expected story and thats why they were dissapointed

What we need to do as gamers is not preorder. When we preorder the greedy companies get their money either way so they half-ass a game. Then we need to watch 3 plus reviews by trusted reviewers and watch some gameplay. Then you should make an informed decision. Instead the companies release clones of the previous game every year and people buy it because it has the COD label or whatever series it is. We need to get the big companies to use some innovation and make original games instead of having the same mechanics and gameplay over and over again. Hit them where it hurts: The Wallet.
@KripticKill7 жыл бұрын
Hayden Durand It's not really about pre-ordering its about buying the game period. Don't buy these half assed games at all. Spend your money carefully and think outside your comfort zone of video games. right now the only games I truly still come back to is anything the from software makes, overwatch.... and that's pretty much it. I go back to certain old games once in a while but that's it. I even like mass effect 3 and Andromeda's horde mode a lot.
@BillBilliamson7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's just such a weird time for gaming because it's not like we aren't getting good games or even worse games overall necessarily but you can help but the notice when older studios like bioware and Bethesda make games that detract a lot in their sequels from what made their games great. Then you look at micro transactions and pre order culture and you really just start to wonder how so many people just buy into certain games when all you really have to do is skip out on a few games and stick to old ones that will probably be just as good, if not better, than new to have better games overall
@Gbag347 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying that gaming is dead. As one of you mentioned, gaming is the best it's ever been. The problem is that the industry is massive now. Everyone has a game console in their home now. A lot of these massive companies don't have to try to make an amazing game to get sales numbers anymore. Gaming is so huge on a global scale now that all that matters is a good enough marketing campaign to have people pre order. They don't even need to try to make great games like they used to. They can make a terrible game and still make boat loads of money off of us. One of you mentioned micro transactions and that is the death of video games. I'm not saying that it's going to make nobody buy them, or that it's going to make developers stop making games or anything. They are making video games not fun. So many games are adopting these random loot boxes and other micro transactions. If this keeps up it will ruin everything. The problem is that when you play a game the primary thing is to achieve something. To win, unlock or conquer something. Now we have games that you spend $80 on, then another $100 for them to beat it for you. You just paid Activision $180 to buy their game, and then beat it for you. You now have no purpose owning that game, good job! All I'm saying is this is ruining the sense of achievement in games because even if you DONT buy micro transactions and they are an option, your achievements don't feel as good as they used to. The pride, fun and joy of completion is gone now that you can just pay for it.

Mudcrab Menace I know the feeling. Almost all my favourite franchises are either dead, dying, in limbo, or in a serious rut. Diablo - 3 sucked. Who knows when we will get a sequel, or if it will be any good. Always online DRM bullshit. Starcraft - 2 was the same as the first, but 3D, with a worse story, and we had to pay for it three times to get all the campaigns. Plus always online DRM bullshit. Warcraft - Fifteen years since Reign of Chaos. Still no sequel. Fuck you World of Warcraft. Halo - Has been getting slightly worse every game since Halo 2. Fable - Got worse with each sequel and then died. Duke Nukem - Hail to the former King. Half Life - .... Neverwinter Nights - No new title anywhere in sight. Kotor - You were the chosen one. Mass Effect - Meh since Mass Effect 2. Dragon Age - Sequels were okay. But strayed too far from what made the original great. Who knows when we get another sequel. The Elder Scrolls - Bethesda hasn't even started it. Six years after Skyrim. Morrowind is still my favourite. They seem to be taking more and more freedom and choice away from the player with every sequel. Fallout - 4 was okay. But it didn't capture the Fallout experience very well. New Vegas was a true Fallout game. 3 wasn't much better than 4. Zelda - Breath of the Wild is great, and the DLC will be cool. But I really want another awesome Zelda game in the style of Ocarina and Majora's. One that will finally surpass them both.

Nobody likes to listen to randoms when they play multiplayer games, why the fuck would we want to listen to it in trailers? Anthem is Bioware giving up, and settling for something easy that they know the masses will buy into. Why make deep RPGs with great stories and writing, when you can just make a mindless loot shooter that people go crazy for? Somebody in Bioware must've asked this question, and everybody agreed. I'm actually going to have to disagree on the RNG loot thing, it's why myself and all my friends love Destiny and Borderlands so much. It can be frustrating to work with sometimes, but the excitement of seeing a rare drop is what keeps me and so many others coming back for more That said, I know that type of system isn't for everyone, but if it's built in well, I think it can be a positive
@N5FX7 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, i don't understand the joy without RNG it's going to be boring to do a 20 minutes mission i you know already what you're gonna get in the end. Where's the excitment what's the point of it. So if a mission has a weapon as a reward that i wouldn't like i'm just going to skip the mission from the beginning. Nothing like a 100 vault of glass runs to finally get that Gjallarhorn
@kimura-yudai7 жыл бұрын
Yeah but borderlands isn't the kind of rng matt's talking about here. In borderlands there's random rng from everything (if you play on the one and only true difficulty, uvhm) but there's also the fact that you farm bosses for specific drops. That's rng to some extent, because it's a % chance to drop, but it's not because you have a goal. The rng being discussed here is the type of rng you find in WoW in the current expansion. You have a chance out of everything you do to get a random legendary for your class, with no way to target anything. And I agree that the latter is much shittier. Borderlands does it right by having both types of rng for more fun. Anthem just looks like a frankenstein copy-paste of a bunch of games with no real substance of its own.

Bai Laohu but couldn't you say that lord of the rings game I forgot it's name the batman games, and assassin's creed all have a similar combat and they were all good. also I never played mass effect so the combat would be new to me. as a aside I have no strong opinions of the game seeing as I jest heard about it. it would be nice if something could take destiny's crown it got for being the only guy to limp to the party.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. The game is taking the better elements from their best games and making something worth playing. Yes their borrowing from other games because that is what's selling very well. I feel like role playing is not their top priority anymore just an opinion though.
@bailaohu78197 жыл бұрын
I think the only 'role playing' in this game will be exp, levels and random colour coded drops, i.e. superficial-the skin of a role playing game, but not the core.

RPG elements does not an RPG make
@GamerPete1017 жыл бұрын
It isn't at all clear there won't be roleplaying, in fact one of the designers said that you would be able to experience the traditional "Bioware style" single player story. Not clear what that means yet, but Bioware is clearly trying to appeal to the Destiny crowd with this demo so it's worth considering that they were prioritizing the action and group play.

Man, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but "...BioWare hasn't made a good RPG in years..."???? Really, so DA:I wasn't a Game of the Year contender? It wasn't a good RPG? And, despite its crappy ending, what about ME:3?? I say this as someone who has literally been playing BioWare games since their first release; WTF, mate?. I find people who crapped all over ME:A but gave Skyrim a pass, even though Skyrim was utterly unplayable for the first 4-6 weeks it was on the market, small minded and boring. And Fallout is literally the same game over and over with better graphics. But BioWare hasn't produced a good RPG in years? It's very easy to be highly critical when you ass is sitting in an armchair.

PJ Rutar dragon age inquisition was meh at best, better than 2 but still not as good as 1. The story? forgettable. The characters? Not really relatable and to top it off constant side quests that u don't have a choice in doing literally just to purposefully prolong the game. What if one night I just want to play the fucking story but have 0/40 power? well great now I have to devote 3 hours closing rifts and catching goats yippee, dragon age 3 was very very close to being the successor to da 1 that we all wanted but due to some poor design decisions fell short. which is too bad really.
@ladydominion86327 жыл бұрын
I agree with the quest system and power system, even when I play it now it pisses me off because if you're doing The Descent DLC and you don't have any power you have to stop what you're doing and get more so you can unlock things. But otherwise, the characters were enjoyable, and after the Trespasser DLC you realize that Corypheus was never the big baddie. It opened so many story possibilities for 4.

@JayCartere7 жыл бұрын
You're right Matty, RNG SUCKS!! Anthem just looks like a third person Destiny type shooter, I'm very skeptical about what Bioware will be able to do with this game. I play Bioware games for the RPG aspects and story focus, not to put on mech suits with some randoms and run around looking for random loot.

it seems like video games now are developers saying lets make a new game, but make it feel and play like old games so people can feel like they are playing their old favorites.

Great video. Totally summed up my exact emotions/thoughts when I saw the gameplay footage. It was insane how many people responded to that footage claiming they'd pre-order immediately. No wonder we keep getting burned by unfinished AAA titles.

Yep. Pre-orders are veryyyy dangerous. I see why people do it, but it hurts the industry.

So, Andromeda and Anthem both begin with an "A". You know what else begins with an "A"?
@kaleidoscopeeyes12507 жыл бұрын
One thing I will say is that out of all the games it takes from, it kinda reminds me of what *Lost Planet 2* wanted to be all those years ago. Anyone remember that title? Cool tech, beautiful alien environments, awesome looking beasts to fight and dynamic combat. It turned out to be a total wreck, but this could be the real deal.

Any game with scripted dialogue that's construed to give the false impression that is a real conversation between two people in real life is going to suck.

I've been playing video games for almost 20 years now. I still enjoy big AAA games, but not nearly as much as I used too. I find myself being more entertained by Indy titles like Squad, Star Citizen, The Forest, Natural Selection 2, etc. I think true innovations are being made by Indy games, as opposed to most AAA games that just iterate more than anything else.

I prefer how Skyrim does loot over the rng system, where you get specific weapons or armor from specific quests, it gives you a sense of accomplishment. Take Auriel's Bow for example, whenever you look at that bow or use it you are reminded of the epic adventure you went on to earn it, and if other people see you using it they know you've seen some shit.
