Unreal dev here. Cinematics and animations framework in UE5 is state of the art. I expect there to be a significant upgrade in cutscene quality from red engine.
@irecordwithaphone1856
@irecordwithaphone1856 Жыл бұрын
I think CDPR is also going to get a huge buff from using lumen and nanite. They can still incorporate path tracing as an option, but the baseline graphics using lumen would be crazy good Also UE5's world partition technology, for a company like CDPR would be game changing. They could maybe even eliminate the kind of loading you get between Skellige/Velen, thugh I'm not sure I wonder if they'll use metahuman, and UE5 particles since it's so much easier to make effects
@pewpew518
@pewpew518 Жыл бұрын
@@irecordwithaphone1856 No red engines ray tracing is far superior to lumen. lumen is meant to be a console quality software based GI solution. Nvidea does have its own UE branch that it uses to do it own RTX and DLSS work similar to red engine. I think lumen will see a significant update though where it will be able to optionally able to use RT cores when available to significantly boost the quality. Nanite would certainly be an upgrade. As far as world partition goes i thin Red engine probably already had a lite version of that. UE5 does use 64bit float for its vector calculations so it allows for solar systems scale worlds

Anonymous Content produced shows like True Detective, Mr Robot, The Knick, and movies like Babel, Winter's Bone, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, Spotlight, Revenant, etc. It's a very accomplished studio. All the shows and movies from what I've watched from Anonymous Content has a common theme of being very interesting, thought provoking, gritty and unapologetic about difficult topics just like CDPR themselves.. CDPR chose the producer perfect for them. Also CDPR has literally nothing to do with the Netflix Witcher. That is all Netflix and Sapkowski. CDPR has nothing to do with it. With Edgerunners of course it's different, we know CDPR wrote the original script and all the game assets and music was used in the anime.

Regarding the engine switch, it's worth noting that they aren't trying to work in UE5 the way you or I or most "normal" indie devs are. They are getting a tier of support and service direct from Epic that isn't available to anyone except top-tier AAA studios paying top dollar for it. This means that not only can they perform some absolute dark voodoo magic with regard to toolsets, custom modifications, etc., they also may have specialists direct from the UE devteam helping them with support--so not only is the transition a *lot* easier for them than it would be for an indie or AA studio, they also have someone else to debug other issues that come up. It'll be a bit of a bump at first, but it's a *massive* boost to be working in an engine whose developers are making their own games in it, and licensing it to thousands of other devs, so a *lot* of the hiccups you had to find and fix yourself in your in-house engine will already be fixed before you even sit down to get started in UE5.

When it comes to comparing Redfall and Cyberpunk, I don't believe it's a fair matchup. Cyberpunk, despite its issues, had some fantastic elements in its design, storytelling, pacing, and world-building. On the other hand, Redfall doesn't quite measure up in these areas. Even if they attempt to "fix" it, the fundamental problem lies in its core components not being up to par.

The Witcher Netflix show is not in direct partnership with CDPR, they have no creative control. The game sales profited off the effect the show had on the zeitgeist for sure, but it's not the same thing as what they did with Edgerunners.

Don’t forget the other side of the cautionary tale, if the game had released with everything that was promised upon release, the “comeback” wouldn’t have been the going headline, it would’ve just been guys cyberpunk was already SOOOO good and now with this dlc and some more updates it’s amazing!!! Without the loss of trust of the customers too

Sometimes you need extreme lows to get the most out of the extreme highs, man. While in the short term, it proved costly to both CDPR and their fanbase, in the long-term, this comeback means that they've learned. I only see it as a problem when a company does this repeatedly, as then it feels like they really didn't learn a damn thing, like they're trying to milk as much money from their customers per amount of effort spent, as much as possible. (Looking at you, Bungie.)

While expecting a game to be finished and optimized on launch shouldn’t be a monumental ask, it’s great to see when companies stick with it and continually improving the game. Games like Cyberpunk and No Man’s Sky were what I wished were allowed to happen with Andromeda and Anthem

Yeah the streets definitely aren’t as crowded as they would realistically be, but also having to constantly drive through traffic jams doesn’t sound fun so I’m not sure what they should do

I mean just roll around the city and forget the main story... Do some Side Jobs and Gigs and realize that they are as story heavy as the main story. Johnny is with you on the Gigs and Side Jobs as much as on the main mission, and there are A LOT of them. There is so much great content here!! The only thing I miss is more stuff to do in the city besides missions... I wish they would have included a casino or stuff like that to do in the city. They have the arcade machines but it doesn't really fill that hole. Like with RDR 2 where you can start the game and spend hours doing nothing but playing poker, engaging with the towns, or hunting, there is very little of that in CP ( but they have improved on that and made the city itself a little more exciting to just hang around in).

REAAAALLLLLY wish they would add a new game plus into the game as the final nail in the coffin/send off. This is a game with tons of choices and designed for replayability but it would be insanely nice and motivating to pursue more playthrough by being able to carry over your weapons and skills so you don’t have to grind for skills and materials to upgrade weapons

Phantom Liberty is sik as fuk ! However , its a fukin train wreck , stuff not working , game crashing , quest blockers ! I had 1 or two issues with base game at launch on Series X (amazing experience with lots of potential), Phantom Liberty is so good but man after i finished it i really had mixed feelings ! Everything about it is great , except the issues ! I feel they shit the bed again ! But of course everyone experiences everything differently so it only matters to me !

Another example of time fixes everything. Whether it'll now outshine it's first impression tho, that remains to be seem. It could have used more time in the oven when it first dropped, but eh, better cooked late than never. I believe in redemption. Good for Cyberpunk 2077. Onwards and upwards.

I quite like a lot of Mr.Matty's content, and I feel he nailed it in his recent final thoughts on Starfield, but he does appear to enjoy over-using the word "Insane" in his titles...which is true for a lot of KZbinrs/Streamers these days... I think it's one of those popular/attention-getter things, sort of like "Top Ten " titles.

Would be nice if the next Cyberpunk game gets multiplayer like GTA did, specially if they somehow can make those servers for RP too - would push that whole franchise into the next level.. either way its great that they dont have to focus on the engine that much anymore
