So I tried playing THE WITCHER 3 In 2022...

With the excitement of The Witcher 3's next gen update and it being much bigger than we expected, it feels like a great time to "dip our toes in the pool." I haven't touched this game since the Switch port and it has been even longer since my last full playthrough. With the complete edition on sale, I felt like the game was calling my name... or maybe the wind was howling. Not sure.

Witcher 3 complete edition for $10 is crazy considering the content. I literally spent 400 hours playing the entire game trying to do as close to a completionist run as possible; the dlc are complete stories added to the base game and the addition of the new game plus is crazier yet. This is a title that you play when you get tired of everything else - 400 hours over little more than a year says I got my money's worth.

In the first time I've played The Witcher 3, I was complaining about when the hell we will find Ciri. I thought it was just a small part of the story rather than the whole point. I've never played any action RPG like this. (The only RPG I played was Skyrim) Then I understood what kind of game this was and I enjoyed a lot more in my second playthrough. Now it's one of my favorite games. I've played it four times and I will play it again once I buy a new computer, so I can play with next gen update. I kinda understand why some people cannot get into this game. It's a great game once you understand how to approach it, but understanding it takes patience and willingness.

I originally bought this when I was getting my Xbox One from my brother-in-law. I had planned to play someday but that day didn't come... Until the pandemic began. For the first 3 months of the pandemic, I was ultimately bored because... well, being stuck inside does that to you. So I looked at Witcher 3 and I had just recently gotten the 2 story expansions and watched the Netflix series so I was "Eh, why not?" and that's when those 3 months disappeared. Every day, I'd wake up before dawn and stay up late every night just destroying dens, hunting monsters and playing Gwent (poorly, I might add) and that was just the base game. The DLC easily added another 30 hours to my total play time. By the time those 3 months ended, I had soaked up as much as I could and I walked away happy and even a little sad because I'll never have that experience again. I aim to return to it one day, but I'm not ready for that time sink again.

For me, W3 is the best game so far ever. I remember, when I learned w3 is coming out, as a huge Witcher fan, I decided to build new rig for 1440p playing, just for W3 :) The goal was: fluent play with ultra plus hairworks ON. Well, Titan X 12GB 1440p ultra, HW ON - 70-80 fps in that time. I played like 220 hours+ in that game first time and it was A RIDE! Ill never forget :) Really looking forward for the patch.

Incidentally just picked up the previous “enhanced” version of W3 Complete Edition on my Series X during their Black Friday sale - $8, couldn’t pass it up. Game is PHENOMENAL and really stands up, even 7 and 1/2 years later. I can’t believe I’m getting a free next-gen upgrade next month. It already looks/plays like they did one!!

@N7 Andy hey, agree about monitors being dead, but have you heard of the Helixmod community? There is actually a new driver geo11 that let's you play a lot of games on new drivers on 3d vision or SBS (in VR or a 3dtv for example). We have most non-dx12 games working in 3d, like God of War, FF7 or Evil West, check it out if you still have the gear, pm me if you need help.

This is probably my favorite video game of the last generation. Got heavily immersed in the story, atmosphere and gameplay. Every vital component just came together really well. Heck, I even got called out by a tax collector for my fishy business of trading pearls and exploiting the market.

Out of everything that the next-gen update is bringing , the one thing I'm most exited about is the fact that now during battle you won't have to go into the magic wheel to change your sign, just pressing R2 you can use any of your signs that are assigned to the other buttons

I hope its a satire Even two decade old open world games were far better in terms of exploration , The map of witcher 3 is filled with copy pasted *?* marks having same 5 bandits surrounding the campfire , shallow copy pasted caves & puny monster nests .... All having a chest with randomized loot Skellige water section literally had like multiple same Sirens template copied over and over , At least add some multi layered structures alongside the copy pasted stuff but nope I do not have problem fighting copy pasted enemies if the combat is good enough but it was too bad

It still amazes me how detailed and in depth this game is the came out in 2015 and people have been playing it nonstop since and people are still discovering new things that only happen if you like purposefully do everything a different way that no one else thought of except you yet still an outcome or different dialogue is already coded into the game it baffles me ho crazy this game is you can play it through 4 times and never get the same outcome and than still have a thousands more possibilities idk how they managed to execute all that and still make just a simply fantastic game / story

You can wear only the good looking armor! Don’t have to wear none of that ugly armor you can actually play with the armor that it gives you at the very beginning all the way up to level five or six, I forget which level it is when you can buy the Temerian set which actually looks really good! Then after that making it to level 10 for the Nilgardian set!! Truly an amazing game but I also thought that the Armors left a lot to be desired also?! I remember saying when I first played this game “man I hate that some of the armor just makes you look like a…. Like a jester??”

Best rpg immersion imo. I never felt or cared as much to the characters and storylines than other games. That lord's dead bastard child coming back to haunt them always pops in my head. I really liked the combat. The whole point of how valuable research of the creature your hunting had bonus immersion points to the game. Playing at the highest difficult setting really made this game the most fun especially with the whole narrative that witchers can fall quickly as any monster. Also made exploring more intense and side questing that much more important. Great game. Hats off to that team. They made something really special

Played through 3 times and likely still haven't seen everything or made all possible choices. This is the best RPG I've ever played. They've set the bar incredibly high for themselves! I'm glad to see you're enjoying it still! One note, you can disable the combat log if it's something you're not liking. Personally, I think it gives the game more of an old school RPG vibe and I like that, but I completely get where you're coming from with the overall immersion. Top notch content as usual! I am proud to say that I beat every player that you could play in the Witcher three wild hunt complete edition in Gwent, on the PS4 Pro and then both versions of the game on the Xbox one X, the base game version with all DLC, as well as the GOTY version which give separate achievements which is awesome!! (The same applies for the PlayStation version if you had the bass game and all DLC and the GOTY version!)

@@tyrellcombs3807 yes definitely, the combat mechanics might feel clunky at first, but stick with it and it clicks (at least it did for me). The story was amazing imo.
