Who's writing it then? I'd rather have a competent writer who cares about the source material than one that wants insert too much of there activism and not tell a compelling story. A writer would have a easy start as KOTOR one already has a decent story so remake it for improvement or keep it the same and let's improve on gameplay mechanics.

My guess why PS walked away is because of the scope and release time. Aspyr is known for doing small scale porting and I doubt they could pull off the high caliber type of game PS wanted. That on top of Disney most likely didn’t care what or how it looked as long as it came out by a certain time.

Remember years ago when a group of modders was making a first person kotor remake and then received a cease and desist from EA I think since they had been the publisher. As much as this gives me hope for an eventual release of a remake we could have already had one if not for corporate greed.... Also my ideal remake is the very same kotor but maybe a bigger world/more side quests and a Jedi survivor like combat system. Anybody else agree something like that would bring a more true Jedi/sith feel to the game? Also wasn't some cut content supposed to come to the switch port of the game but that never happened?

Would much rather see a combat system more similar to the Jedi knight series (best lightsaber combat system to date imo), but I also would not mind if they stayed with the real time turn based system they used in the original kotors. My main hope though is that it turns into an actual remake and not just the same game with updated graphics and UI, that would be very disappointing imo

Wait wait wait… they had planned and subsequently cancelled a TimeSplitters reboot?! 😭 That’s one franchise that could do great in the modern era. Remake the original trilogy as a remake / remastered package. Then make a brand new one with a great story; and fantastic multiplayer. Imagine bringing back virus and mapmaker. Playing TDM online or local co-op with friends in your custom built maps. With the wackiness of characters and outfits, surely the cosmetic micro-transactions alone would pay for this game!

Saber did a great job remastering the Halo: CE and Halo 2 anniversary editions! Not sure if they will rehaul the gameplay, since they've previously focused on improving graphics and sound. It would be amazing if they teamed up with Blur Studio again and let them do the cutscenes, imagine how good the destruction of Taris and space battles would look!

I am currently doing another play through on Kotor 2 and it is still one of my favourite games. Ever. I would love to see a remaster of 1 and 2, with possibly some extras (such as restored content for Kotor 2 and maybe just extra stuff to fill some of the levels). But i would want them to be separate from this whole new Kotor game, so effectively getting 3 new games. I had seen some of the art that came out from that group of people who were doing a load of modding on Kotor 1, which had made some of the maps/planets look amazing with top tier graphics. Either way, if the originals dont get touched and we just get a new Kotor game, as long as it's good, i will be happy. A remaster of the original 2 games would just be a cherry on top 😁

I’m happy for this. Although I really wish they could reach out to EA and see if they could borrow the starwars engine they have created or the animation and AI. Like the creatures being akin to what they were in Jedi survivor and fallen order, the AI not always just “shoot miss” but actually interacting with their environment, scenes of talking near cinematic and not just “move mouth as you talk.” Not to mention the movement for a Jedi would help out speed up recreation and adding new diverse levels to the game rather than the RPG open concept Kotor is used to. Honestly I’d love to make it into a solid solo character game instead of being more online based. Like online can come later but focus on main campaign experience.

i still think that it should remain an Rpg turn based combat game with at least 6 party members .....and keep Soules original soundtrack the same to. Also, melding all the characters and force powers/feats of Kotor1 and kotor2 into one game would be amazing even though it would not be canon or lore accurate. Also, exploring more worlds. There is so much that can be improved. I think making it a action/adventure game is the least of everyones problems.

I’m curious to see whether or not they’ll faithfully recreate certain unflattering aspects of the original game, or take the opportunity to improve the shortcomings. I distinctly recall the bland, empty, lifeless environments and the truly lackluster combat. If they keep the same epic story and great voice acting but correct those other flaws, this could truly be a solid remake.
