Spawn was in Soul Calibur 2 because at that time, Namco developed Spawn Armageddon. It wasn't an Xbox exclusive, it was on all 3 platforms, but it was likely cheaper for them to reuse Spawn than it was for them to make a deal with Xbox to use Blinx the Time Sweeper. Master Chief wouldn't have made it in because that game came out about half a year prior to the release of Soul Calibur, and I don't think everyone knew Halo was going to be as big as it ended up being.

Pitchin' as the Soulcalibur nerd: the Soul series has a history of console-exclusives since the first game Originally, Hwang and Mitsurugi in Soul Blade were interchangeable characters sharing the same moveset but were only available depending on on the region, but both were made available on the Playstation version alongside a new addition with Han Myeong...who was still just another Mitsurugi clone Soulcalibur originally didn't feature Cervantes in the arcade version and was added as a console exclusive character alongside making Inferno playable.. Soulcalibur III is an interesting oddity because its arcade version was released _after_ the console version. It added Inferno as an exclusive boss character and gave Hwang his own separate slot rather than being relegated to a bonus character
@X2011racer10 ай бұрын
Soul Calibur 5 was to feature two guest characters: Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2, and Devil Jin from Tekken. Unfortunately due to rushed development, only Ezio was completed and Devil Jin wasn't; he has no model, his moveset and announcer call are all that's left of him and his voice clips are all placeholder beeps. However, you can make custom characters that use Devil Jin's moveset, but not those with Ezio's moveset possibly because of Ubisoft. Ironically, only Ezio's stage and Devil Jin's moveset did carry over to Soul Calibur Lost Swords, but Ezio's stage was not intended to appear. Yet, it showed up in one stage of a limited time event where you can get pieces of exclusive armor. In that stage, it's trying to play Ezio's theme, but all you get is silence.
@nathanl862210 ай бұрын
@@X2011racer IV's guests also weren't available as custom movesets (and you can't give them new costumes like you can for the normal cast), so presumably that was a limitation in the licensing agreement. I might be missing a spinoff, but I want to say VI is the first game that lets you use guest characters in the character builder. Also worth noting that III doesn't have a proper guest character, but the character builder has cosmetics that let you make KOS-MOS from Xenosaga.

the gba port of alpa 3 is actually really cool, and while novelty is really the only reason to play it these days, the devs (crawfish interactive) did a great job just getting it to play as well as they did, extra characters or not. plus there were no game breaking glitches, unlike capcom's own gba port of sf2. though speaking of its release date, it's possible those characters were added in to make up for having missed the previous christmas season, which was the intended release window. this missed deadline meant crawfish broke contract with capcom, and that apparently led to them shutting down. they actually made some incredibly ambitious gba games, and made them well, so i wish they hadn't gone under for such a bullshit reason.

@HEHEHE_I_AM_A_MASKED_WARRIA8 ай бұрын
Supposedly the reason GBA Alpha 3 is so limited in terms of stages and audio is because Capcom forced Crawfish to use an 8 MB cart for whatever reason instead of a larger size like 32 MB. Had they had more space to play with, they could've included more stages, higher-quality audio, and better animation. Supposedly a 3rd Strike port of similar quality could've also been possible.

The reason Hakushin was cut from TvCUAS requires explanation. In the early 90's, Saban Entertainment did an English dub of his anime, and even though it never aired in the US, they still owned the US rights to it (Bulk is even seen watching it in an episode of Power Rangers). Then Disney bought pretty much all of Saban's catelog during their acquisition of Fox Family, and despite the fact that they only did anything with Power Rangers and Digimon, they still wouldn't allow Hakushin and the Samurai Pizza Cats from appearing in TvC.

Anna Williams, with her own playstyle, was also exclusive to the console version of Tekken 3. In the Arcade version, she was merely a pallete swap of Nina Williams. This is because Anna was a very late addition to the game, hence Ogre having some of her moves, even though she's in the game.

Guile and Evil Ryu were in the PS1 version of Alpha 3. They had to be unlocked through World Tour mode.

15:16 If you look carefully or play Miharu too often but pick Xiaoyu by accident, you'll notice Miharu has slightly more attack power than Xiaoyu. Back when Tekken 4 was the main Tekken game to play, Xiaoyu mains played as Miharu instead for the increase in offense alone.

Was there some system exclusive characters in Virtua Fighter? I think the bear with zero animation and just rotates as its attacks in Virtua Fighter 2 is a system exclusive character on the Saturn

I hope one day Ingrid can make a return to Street Fighter, while i doubt that and she's probably something Capcom wants rather left Forgotten, she was really cool Also Eagle, he is cool

The reason they dont make Yoshimitsu being in both a big deal is because the one in SC is the ancestor of the one in Tekken, while Heihachi is literally the character from Tekken if I'm not mistaken

MK Unchained also had Blaze, Jax, Kitana, and Frost lifted directly from Deadly Alliance. Not terribly exciting but theyre still bonus characters.

I love your videos, MrMixtape! I'm really surprised to see you have less than 10k subscribers, I like your content every bit as much as jmcrofts and Justin Wong. Here's a question for you, out of curiosity. How much do you care about the Smash series? Are you curious about it? It's my impression that Smash is its own little subcircle among the FGC, many not even considering it a traditional fighting game, most seeming to consider platform fighters their own thing.
@MrMixtape10 ай бұрын
Thank you! I used to be big into Smash, in fact it was pretty much my gateway into the FGC. I don't play it much but I'll still talk about/watch it whenever possible.

The Western version of Tekken 3 was originally going to have Pingu in the roster instead of Gon, on account of him being far more well known. But, if you do a follow up to this, you got to talk about Sega's fighting game characters too!

Do you know of a character named Pepsi Man? Well, Japanese versions of Fighting Vipers (arcade and PS2 included) contains product placement for Pepsi. This is apparent on Picky's skateboard deck and the UFO Diner stage with its Pepsi-themed trucks and Pepsi billboard. The Japanese Sega Saturn version pushed the Pepsi sponsorship further by including Pepsi Man as a playable fighter. Sega lost the Pepsi license after, and Pepsi Man was repurposed into Kuhn in Fighting Vipers 2, complete with Pepsi Man's moveset.
