Thanks for having Josiah, my childhood sports hero! I remember following his news on chinese newspapers sports section where they got his chinese name wrong as 黄安南 for years and eventually corrected to 伍安临.

i used to run in malaysia - snatching a podium position on runs were easy. until i moved to australia, everyone that participated in any races - they trained structurally - and josiah was right; no one here is out there to perform mediocre performance. The age groupers here easily outperform any elite athletes in malaysia. the mindset here is always “ you are strong, you can crush it”. We train day in day out as an amateur athlete. Anyone in australia ironman top 20-30, can easily be on the podium in malaysia. we have cultivated a wrong culture thinking everyone is elite in malaysia - this is why we never grow world class athlete. Social media is another culprit.

Love the broad range of insight on various professions, since there have already been 2 doctors on the show, maybe a highlight on the 2 other 'professionals' such as an engineer or lawyer next?

Pendidikan Jasmani is a part of our school syllabus, however i notice it is never given a priority. The teacher teaching the PJ is not even a sport person . I always hear my son complaining that there is no PJ for that day because the teacher is busy lah, teacher is absent lah, teacher got meeting lah, school got dancing performance lah, bla bla bla bla. Its like PJ is just a second tier subject that is just there to fill the requirement. For kids, PJ is the most exciting subject for the week. They look forward to PJ day to play. Give some respect to PJ please.

Can you imagine an average Malaysian decides one day to concentrate fully in sports and neglect his/her education but turns out to be below average and could not win tournaments? That person would end up struggling very badly to survive. I mean not everyone is lucky enough to become the next Lee Chong Wei or Lee Zii Jia. That's the sad state of sports and education in Malaysia for those who could not make it. That's why Singapore model is the best to make sure the local athletes are at least well educated while they are playing their sports because as soon as their time is up, they are totally on their own and nobody backs them up. The Sports Ministry should work together with the Education Ministry to make sure the athletes are academically equipped.
