They are different kinds of vampires though. Angelus was one of the most evil vampires in history and he didn’t really have the capacity to love without a soul whereas Spike could. Also I think that Angelus still loved Buffy because of the way he acted around her and he didn’t kill her at times he knew he could. Angelus also didn’t have the time to be able to grow to love Buffy like Spike did. As Spike was determined to kill Buffy for a very long time until he physically couldn’t so he had to spend time with Buffy but couldn’t hurt her so he grew to love her. Angelus was able to hurt her but if he had a chip in his head I think he would have grown to love her as well. I don’t know if that made sense but I hope it still put things in perspective

There were good moments, but so much of it could've been cut and it'd have been an improvement. 5 was honestly a surprising return to form overall while keeping things fresh. It's kind of a shame they didn't have more time to deal with the big showdown at the end.
