@@zerikva I still like Luffy 's fruit. It wasn't a devil fruit in terms of potential but it's a "high max speed, slow acceleration" kind of fruit, perfect for the protagonist's fruit. It's different from say Ace fruit or Enel fruit where you can just obliterate most people in the world without training from the get go. Luffy was very weak when he first ate the fruit, being weaker than Ace and Sabo without fruit. It took he a lot of time training the fruit to even get to the Luffy that we saw in the first chapters. Luffy was lucky to eat the fruit so early in his life. Others would have eaten that fruit and awakened the fruit, and probably die if they attempted it. With that said, we have to see how Oda implements the fruit from now on. I have been impatiently waiting to see what happens next time luffy uses his awakened state.

Blackbeard basically is using his devil fruit abilities as a substitute for haki. He can damage people from the inside and damage them without touching them with whitebeards df and he can absorb/defend/nullify against any other df with his logia type darkness fruit(forget the name). I can see blackbeard’s 3rd df giving him a type of advanced observation/future sight haki type of ability which would give him pretty much all of the same abilities that high level haki masters have without any of the training.

Blackbeard has an observation feat, measuring luffys power level, that only rayliegh is also able to do. I genuinely think most of this comes from haki not being drawn pre time skip. It makes it easy to say that since the story didn't show us the same way it does now who has strong haki, that means older characters just don't have haki or they're bad at it. If there were no black hands and lightning it'd be a lot harder to falsely compare pre and post time skip. For all we known blackbeard could have already used conqueres coating at marine Ford. All it will take is one line from luffy, just like all the other feats luffy figured out where actually just people using haki.

Luffy even comments on it during his fight against queen with hygoro. Luffy could hit targets, like tree right before the raid or the stone walls at udon without touching them. He learns coc in his second kaido engagement.

Been saying for awhile that his obsession w devil fruit power could result in him having subpar haki in comparison. The guy has two of the most dangerous fruits for their type at the same time, which is unheard of, and he’ll most likely have TWO awakenings. Hell many believe a third fruit is coming, ultimate devil fruit user is born. It’s probably going to take Luffy relying solely on his haki to win, since Kaido says haki trumps all.

Haki techniques don't trump all, I have seen armament & observation get beat by df powers alot. Queen said his dinosaur snake hold has crushed the bones of dozens of armament haki masters cuz their haki couldn't withstand the force & pressure. Even Luffy was still hurt by Hody Jones when he bit thru his armament haki 🤷‍♂️. You can't use Roger as the standard for haki technique users he's literally in the 1% & only became PK cuz he begged Whitebeard for Oden. Whitebeard could of said no and Roger wouldn't be PK

To all people,that was not conqueror haki shown in ep 1093. That was normal haki which law was also releasing. Conqueror haki has black and red colour while normal haki is just red colour. In manga,none of them were releasing any type of haki. In manga, Blackbeard conqueror haki is not revealed yet. So all of that was anime only thing.

So I was recently rewatching marineford, (gf is on her first watch through) and I noticed when Blackbeard tilted the sea they also emphasized that he split the sky as well. But I went and doubled checked in the manga and the sky is never shown splitting nor is it mentioned like the anime. It’s kind of odd to me because he was fighting Sengoku and as we now know he also has Conquers Haki as well. I thought that was a cool way to subtlety show that they both have it and we’re clashing, but I guess that’s not the case.

How do you explain luffy at sabaody? I remember a shout of can't win run. He uses conqueres littetally 5 days after that incident. How do you explain litterally seen one of the manga where shanks tells luffy to back down from a fight? What about kaidos suicidal nature? He litterally would rather die than keep going. That's litterally the opposite of unwavering. How about doffy v kaido? Doffy backed down awfully quick from that fight but he still had conqueres. Why not just accept rays explanation that no, never baking down is not how conqueres works? It's a rare manifestation of someone's will and desires. That's why luffy and shanks can use it to save their friends and backing down doesn't mean they don't have it. That's how kaido can have conflicting desires and still have it.

Ok with Doffy he was a kid when he awakened his C.H because even though he was about to be killed by people socially beneath him, he didn't waver he didn't back down, yh he worked under Kaido but that's a buisness or partnership, look at Zoro and Luffy they both are conquerors but Zoro decided to work under him Shanks taught Luffy the ability to discern which people are worth fighting and which ones are not, Luffy could've easily beaten Bellamy just like how shanks could have easily beaten the bandits but at first they thought it wasn't worth it, With Luffy running away it was a lesson in humility keep in mind he didn't fully awaken his conquerors until marineford u could make the argument that all of pre time skip was building up Luffy as a captain and like with anything in the world you got to take the good and the bad sometimes you got to pick uf fights and other times u got to run

I think the focused emphasis of BlackBeard's crew hunting devil fruits is the best indicator of this. As well as BB's own desire to steal Whitebeard's fruit. Considering one in a million have conquerers haki which is quite rare it’s probably a good idea in general to hunt devil fruits and I’m surprised other pirate crews weren’t doing this as much. Him hunting devil fruits doesn’t indicate that he doesn’t have conquerers because although a Yonko is strong you need a strong crew. Let’s not forget kaido was on something similar collecting zoan devil fruit users and trying to artificially create devil fruits to feed to people to strengthen his army

There were some situations were Luffy also retreated instead of fighting. Smoker multiple times, Kizaru on Sabaody, Magellan in Impel Down and Big Mom in Whole Cake Island come to mind instantly, so retreating from a stronger opponent is not an instant no-go when it comes to having conqueror's haki. The reason I agree that Blackbeard probably will not be able to use conqueror's haki is that Rayleigh explained haki blooms in the kind of situations that Blackbeard consistently avoids. Blackbeard only picks the fights he is sure that he will win. Ace was probably a slip up since Blackbeard did not know that Ace cared about Luffy who was his target to become a warlord.

Morj already addressed the Kizaru point and you're ignoring context for the rest. For example with magellan, luffy was running because his goal was to save ace. He had bigger priorities than fighting Magellan. Luffy didn't fear Magellan. It's not about running away, it's about the characters personality in dangerous situations. Luffy does not back away from a challenge, this doesn't mean he fights everyone in every situation

It's even worse than you're saying with this theory. Additional support for why this theory of conqueres is busted First thing we ever see shanks do, back down from a fight. First thing we see rayliegh do, get himself enslaved with zero plans to fight. Conqueres, as rayliegh explained very clearly, is not linked to a set of actions a character takes. It is an inherent part of their will and no amount of training can get it. If it worked any bit the way morj is saying it does people could absolutely train to have it. Like the raid failing this theory requires the reader to skip huge swaths of the plain text of the story and assume explained things are contradictory.

I believe Devil fruits will get a "buff" once we understand how and why they work. So haki will stay useful but maybe certain lineage factors give you an affinity for a fruit or fruit type, with Blackbeard being the paramount fruit user. If not that BB knowledge of fruits could give him a deadly edge. I think we'll have our fill of conquerors coating by the time we're done with God King Shanksu 🔥

not sure if I agree with the “never backing down” aspect of conqueror’s. Like it’s there to an extent but it’s not always the case. Luffy has run away from both Smoker and Kizaru pre-timeskip. He also spent a good portion of whole cake running away from Big Mom during her hunger pang attacks. Also Doffy pretty much wanted nothing to do with Kaido I feel like it’s more a mix of the unwavering will along with the caring about your friends that plays into conqueror’s, but even that’s not super consistent cause Big Mom is out here killing her children Although I do agree Blackbeard probably doesn’t have it

You misunderstood the point being made, the key trait of a coc user is ambition, and the unrestrained will to pursue it despite the odds. Meaning that any obstacle that blocks their path towards their goal, they'll keep fighting persistently until they succeed, that is the main point. We see this from Luffy throughout his journey through the grandline. Despite that being the case, that doesnt mean they can't be sensible and logical. Like the Kizaru incident, Luffy and co finished fighting a pacifista, Luffy had experience fighting an admiral and knew it was suicidal especial if his crew were there, Luffy is still a captain at the end of the day, and any captain is responsible for the crew. The same applies to Big Mum. Doffy fighting Kaido wouldnt benefit him so why should he have a 'never back down mentality' infact, the reason Doffy feared Kaido because he new that Kaido, with his unreasonable personality he could be a threat to Doffys establishment, therefore he'd rather not go that route. When DOffy trapped fujitora in the birdcage, he easily accepted having to fight the admiral, knowing it would be hard. Caring for friends has nothing to do with coc, its only ambition, and the things that fall under it. Luffy in pursuing his goal knows he needs his crew who are down to join his cause, plus he cherishes his friends more than anything, therefore he is willing to protect them, that falls under Luffy's conviction, its not a coc thing.

In the instances that law wanted to retreat, he wasn't giving up on his goal, he just wanted to regroup and find a tactical path past his obstacle as opposed to brute force. And how is suicide ambitious? Zoro's ambition would have ended then and there if mihawk had chosen to kill him while if he'd lived, he could have continued chasing his dream. He straight up accepted the end of his goal in that moment when he didn't have to. The theory olds up. the only thing that's left out is the direct parallel between black beard and rock's crews. Rock had a problem in having too many conquerors users in his crew, and supposedly he had it too. If black beard doesn't have an inch on conqueror, why his crew would follow him? Taking as granted that some of them have conqueror for sure (aka shiriu). Oda likes to trace these tween paths between Roger's timeline and the current one. A way to connect them could be that rock would consider black beard weak, a disappointment for taking shortcuts. Maybe teach motives are to be found in his past with rock. unwonted child, with a loser father that in is view lost because he played "fair" and took out his frustration on his son.

yeah but Roger had no Devil Fruit, when it makes sense for him to thematically have the Nika Nika Fruit, but he doesn't, Luffy and Roger aren't direct copies of each other. similarly, Teach doesn't need to be a copy of socks in everything. he is a man with similar aspirations to Rocks, but that doesn't mean he has to be as great as Rocks. for example, there's a clear difference between Teach's crew and Rock's crew. One way to look at it aswell is like this: Rocks pirates had too many conquerors, thus a lot of heads butting constantly and in fighting. While the Blackbeard pirates have too many Devil Fruit users, so if one falls in water, who saves them? They're all weak to kairoseki weapons aswell and in some cases Haki which can counteract some DF abilities, like Law being unable to do some attacks on BM and Kaidou due to their Haki. Since most have OP DF it's fair to say that most will have a weak reliance on Haki or barely having to use it if not on their weapon like Shiriu a clear exception since he was a marine/prison guard in a high position. This will result in the situation that Luffy found himself in vs Katakuri, where they both used armament Haki, but Kata was stronger so Luffy fist was hurt by it in result, kinda how in base form Luffy Haki is just black blue ish, in gear 4 or some attacks with ryuo or red roc it has a red tint, which Katakuri always had. So if they all have basic black Haki, those with stronger ones or red tinted ones will win out.

Oh I totally agree with you. I’m not trying to say whitebeard wasn’t headstrong at all. The example you mentioned is a perfect example of him not backing down when it matters. I’m just saying that whitebeard is much more similar to law than to luffy in a competition of “world’s most headstrong man”. Much like law, whitebeard would put his life on the line for his beliefs but only after considering his options first. We saw this pre time skip when he dissuaded ace from going after teach even though teach had broken the ironclad rule of his ship and killed a crew mate. We also saw this post time skip when he dissuaded ace from going after kaido in the flashback. I can’t imagine very headstrong characters like luffy Kidd or big mom making the same choices that he did in those situations but I could see folks like law or sanji making the same choices. Right now whitebeard seems to be the exception to the “must be headstrong” rule but fanmade rules can easily be broken and made obsolete by oda. We saw this happen before with the fanmade rule that “you must be a captain to have conqueror’s haki”. At first Raleigh was the only exception. Then katakuri, zoro, oden and even whitebeard himself were revealed to have been subordinates at one time or another with conqueror’s I’m mostly saying this shouldn’t be taken as serious evidence that teach won’t have it

Blackbeard definitely HAS conquers haki. Blackbeard was the first person who ever mentioned haki Why he definitely has conquers haki: Chapter 234 - Blackbeard says: "I thought 30 million was a little too low judging by his haki but... To think it'd be this high", according to Luffys new bounty. For the fact that Luffy didn't had armament or observation haki, the only thing he could meant was conquers haki, for the fact that you are able to use it unconsciously. But Luffy never used conquers haki, so the only explanation for this is, that Blackbeard has such a strong conquers haki and such a great knowledge about conquers, that he is able to sense conquersuser even if they arent even haki user yet Chapter 544 - Blackbeard says: "You're stronger than I thought... your haki is stronger than before, too", right after Luffy punched him in Impel down. For the fact that Luffy used conquers unconsciously in Amazon Lily, the only explanation is that he sensed the increase of Luffys conquers haki.

I think all creatures could potentially unlock it, it just takes a certain kind of mindset to always be a leader and be in charge and well have the strength and training to back it up, that’s when it manifests. Hierarchical organizations like the Marines kind of lead to it being dulled and not manifesting in people unless they are higher ups and even then it seems pretty rare, because you are likely deferring to an authority and leadership of someone else in that scenario.

Im not saying that u r wrong, since all ur arguments r very consistents, but some points got to be discussed more. 1 - All the oposite traits that you stated between both characters r true, but that for itself doesnt mean that Blackbeard havent developed Haki´s abilities. Actually the Kaidou´s quote about Haki can point as well to the the fact that all major players of One Piece have a really powerfull Haki, since its the ultimate ability that defines the King. Blackbeard seeking for strong Devil Fruits for his crew doesnt necessarily means thats the only way he is using to gain power. We saw that Kaidou was doing the exactly same thing with the smiles production and still have a really impressive use of the Haki. We did not see Blackbeard using Haki, for the same reason we did not see Dragon using it... Its not their time to shine yet. Sabo and Burgess had showed us strong Hakis, so we can just imagine their leaders doing even more impressive use of this type ability. So, that being said, i got say that it´d be very strange for the final pirate villain of Luffy´s journey to doesnt have Conqueror´s Haki, since all his last opponents are users of that type of Haki (Doffy, Katakuri, Big Mom and Kaidou) and that is probably the main ability that will make Luffy achieves the top and rise as the Pirate King. Therefore, would make more sense for his last pirate opponent to have a really strong Conqueror´s Haki for Luffy surpass in the end. 2 - The common trait beetween all the Conqueror´s Haki users, but the possession of a strong ambition to be the "king", r not that clear. We dont know that much about that ability´s requirements yet. Your conclusion (that they never step back) makes sense, but still... i dont know, i think there is some points of discussion. To start with, what is the meaning of "do never step back" ? Cause we could say that in Sabaody, Luffy and his crew steped back before a too much strong enemy, trying to run away and regroup with a better strategy just like did Law in ur example. We could even arguement that the Time Skip was a step back that Luffy took in order to be prepared for the challenges of the New World. But the biggest inconsistence of your conlusion is someone u did not mention, Doflamingo. Doffy, with no doubt, has taken a step back against Aokiji and, more important, against Kaidou. And still, he definitely has the Coqueror´s Haki. So, i think ur conclusion for the commmon trait that all Conqueror´s Haki should have is not 100% correct. My guess would be that all of them has the ability to attract people to their side and to naturally make others accept their leadership. That would tottaly fit with all characters with this type of Haki we have seen. Even the ones that are not a Captain or a Group Leader, like Zoro, Rayleigh and Katakuri, we can see this characteristic, people around them tend to admire, follow them and to accept their guidance and positions. The only Conqueror´s Haki user that does not fit this characteristic "yet" is Yamato, bacause we did not see that much about him. CONCLUSION - All that being said, Blackbeard fits perfectly for a Char that have Conqueror´s Haki. His role in the narrative as the main pirate villain and competitor for the One Piece treausure plus the fact that people around him tend to follow his leadership, having him 2 groups in his crew, a true loyal core group and other composed of former captains that believe in his power and ambition (just like tobiroppos for Kaidou), we can say that he gathers the characteristcs to have this Ultimate ability.
