I hope Suzuka Nakamoto will stay in the genre after BABYMETAL, she has been working with several bands and was quick to make an effort to learn English, so out of the three of them I think she is the one who can carve out a space for herself at the metal scene.

She's a singer, she probably can appreciate even more than a fan how insane is Halford because she gets the technical hurdles of signing.

Moa can play a little. Yui not so much. if i remember correctly she was trying to learn from Mikio. he was being a true mentor to them. Rob Halford came to them. he loves them. he had Babymetal open for him in 2018 when Judas Priest was doing an Asian tour. you dont know how good Babymetal is til you actually see them live for your self.

I don't think Yui's guitar was plugged in, she stops playing at random points and there's no audible change in the music. Moa is known to be able to play guitar, and has been learning since the very early days of Babymetal, possibly before that.

Only BabyMetal could get a mosh pit going at an awards ceremony although it was only small . The front few where some of there travelling fans . Believe or not BabyMetal fans travel anywhere in the world to see them . Many travel all the way to Japan to see there stadium shows . Fans from all over the world travelled to see them at Brixton Academy show in London last July. I was lucky it was only 500 mile round trip for me . I am doing it again tomorrow to see them again . 🤘😁🤘

Having watched, and re-watched this video NUMEROUS times, I find myself noticing new things the more I come back to it. If you pay close attention at about the halfway mark during Breaking the Law, Rob asks the sound guy to turn him down. Edit: Let me also just say, THAT CROWD SUCKED. I say it any time I recommend the video to people, this crowd SUCKED. They were so unresponsive, it was just terrible. Even during the parts when they're being ENCOURAGED to sing along and get involved, they were SO LIFELESS.

Man! I have waited soooo long for someone to react to that performance and I'm so happy that you were the one to do it. That one show means a lot to me. Back when the collaboration was announced I was so excited that I was counting the days to watch the live streaming of it. I remember watching the whole APMAs show super bored just waiting for BABYMETAL to come out, and when they finally came out, they blew my head off. It was so worth the wait. Now everytime I watch it I remember that feeling.

@Mario Martinez I watched the whole thing on live streaming. This was about the only high point. : ) Although it was cool that so many of the bands that were interviewed said that they were most looking forward to hearing BABYMETAL. Even the guys that won for 'Best Live Band" said they thought the award should go to BABYMETAL, even though they weren't nominated. : )

The audience is a awards show group who are there for themselves or their groupies. So they are not there for Babymetal. What stuck me was the power of Suzuka's voice in spite of the lousy sound system. Moa does play guitar and Yui had said she was learning, I believe they were taught a couple of cords for this performance by the band and that is why the guitarist were with them, helping them. There is short clip of a post-performance interview with Halford and Babymetal, it's the one were he names them the "Monster Ladies of Metal", check it out.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 🏍 It's kind of amazing that the first time you heard 'Breaking the Law', it was the BABYMETAL with Rob Halford version. : ) The song is definitely a classic. At this point Yui was a beginning guitar player, but Moa had been learning for several years. In the months leading up to this, her only answer about what she was working on with the guitar was "Secret!". Halford is a class act, and he's always been super nice and supportive of what BABYMETAL are doing. I'm glad that our late, great Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka got to share in this moment.

I attended the whole streaming before this performance, still wondering how they put it in a festival with a really different kind of music, like to put Marylin Manson in a christian rock festival. Around on youtube i think you can find different camera point of view, and one very funny thing happened after this performance. There was a "prize" to give to another band and they said "how we can get the prize for "better performance" just after we witnessed what happened a couple of minutes ago"

Really, this is one of those rare videos where you can see the real "Suzuka". In Japan music business, the singers and musics almost always "smile". Suzuka smile a lot, also Moa and Yui but sometimes is because.... this is also her work. She must smile, even if she have a bad day, even as an example, Moa falls and got a lot of damage, she smiles and continue to dancing even if the pain was severe (happens at least one time). Like people says "The show must go on" and people are waiting for smiles. Babymetal hace almost every phrase, movement and even facial expressions studied to the millimeter. Is their work and they do it. But sometimes like this and other few times they are a little more free to be themselves and here you have one of those moments. The girls learn metal from the age of 10/11 years from people who known a lot about it, and also at an early age playes side by side with famous bands. Judas Priest for them is something like "the holy grail". You must see a play where they played again Breaking the Law and Painkiller with RHCP drummer Chad Smith, and after this he got a birthday cake for Sukuza. And well, Moa can play guitar, she learn for years, and even taught beginner guitar lesson to others girls in "Sakura Gakuin", but despite the fact that she can play a "simple" song like Breaking the law, she is very far for the level required for the band. They but in the mix the two guitars very low, and a normal one for the kami band. Btw, the small one was Miko Fujioka, the sandly lost in 2018. Oh, and remember... the fox god is real. In Japan there´s foxes at the entrance of the Inari shines as guardian gods, and also in oriental myths there a "monster" called Kitsune es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitsune

Given Robs’ age he just doesn’t have it in the upper register anymore. You can hear how strained his voice is to get in that range, that and he has to practically keel over for the high range screams. There’s a fantastic video of him doing a rehearsal of Rapid Fire which he can still do really well cause it’s more his mid range. You should check it out, it’s more enjoyable to listen to than this.

Probably the best reaction to this video and glad you witnessed all three songs. I am not sure if you did tweak the audio before uploading it but I always prefer a less post produced sound from live shows, when possible.

I remember watching the live stream of this. Later on in the show, one of the members of Neck Deep, who had just won the "Best Live Band" award said he didn't know how they won the award having just seen that performance. Do some Lovebites soon. Shadowmaker or When Destinies Align.

Great reaction you made the right choice of skipping the intro the guy screwed up Yui and Moa’s names by calling them ewe and mo the crowd was crap apart from the first couple of rows I get their an award ceremony but when 3 talented young girls get on stage and put on a show you join in it’s respectful

I'll let you slide on not ever hearing "Breaking The Law" since it was before your time. But please do a reaction video to it so that we may enjoy seeing the joy spread over you. The music video is a bit cheesy now but it was the best we could do way back then.

Once again, a fantastic reaction. Thanks! One thing I noticed in this video is how much Rob Halford and Su-Metal are alike in their approach to music and each one’s amazing stage presence. Also, Rob was probably as much in awe of Su-Metal as Su-Metal was in awe of Rob Halford. Two giants sharing the spotlight and the stage.

Did you see that look Su gave after her mic crapped out to the side stage. If any woman ever looks at you like that welcome to the void realm.

Speaking of JP, I can't believe I've never seen a reaction vid for School of Rock "Victim of Changes"-Chicago School of Rock.

Love the enthusiasm for Baby Metal...they have grown on me every time I watch a video of them and now love them! I hope to see them live soon. One other thing though...that was a first hearing Breaking the Law?...well if that's the case you need to go back and hear the best Priest...the old Priest. Look up The Best of Judas Priest 1978. You'll get them all right there.

It's funny to see that Rob H. very often sings higher than Su-chan...

But she isnt meant to sing hi. Her voice is a fairly deep voice for a girl and it fits the music well. Mao and Yui had the higher pitches lol The contrast works so well. I have heard Su high pitched though and it is darn good, but not usually her aim :)
