Yea, I call Akane Hirose "The Beast from the East!" Just turned 60 and I can tell you I have heard a lot of drummers in my time, but Akane is by far my Favorite. She's an absolute genius on the kit. She can do it all.... even in the same song. She is able to switch gears flawlessly and yet never disturbing the beat. All the changes in beats or the fills never seem to be out of place for the track she is playing on. She is in service to the song and her band mates. Tasteful, stylish and viscous all at the right times. With Misa playing bass, they are the Engine that makes Band-Maid GO and they make up the best rhythm section around today. Again, Band-Maid is better live!

Also, Jimmy Page (yes THE Jimmy Page) went to one of their shows and specifically request a picture with Akane saying he loved her. Can't imagine a much bigger compliment especially when its someone who played alongside John Bonham.

Yes, Akane can play everything. She can play Jazz, too. Did you know Akane used to work at a Jazz cafe after music school? She was working as a server as well as play the drums during evening hours. Yeah, her semi-professional gig was at a Jazz cafe. Band-Maid was the first band opportunity that came along when the cafe closed down for good and she was in a limbo; she was kinda in 'what do I do now?' situation. Then, Kanami called her because they knew from prior collabs for Kanami's few solo gigs. When Miku called Kanami, it was like the stars lined up; first person Kanami thought of for a drummer was Akane. Of course, Miku is the genesis of Band Maid.

It'd be very difficult for John Bonham to love Akane. Not because of her skill, but because he's been dead for the past 39 years!! On a more serious note, it was Jimmy Page who gave his thumbs up for Band-Maid, and how could he not? Akane is the living reincarnation (also an incredible Band-Maid song, by the way) of Bonham himself. Those fills are as delicious as Zeppelin's back in the day.

You can say the same for the other 4 Maids and their instruments, too. Yep: as good or better live than in the studio.

Band Maid is going to be on Netflix! They will appear as themselves in a new series called "Kate". (Listed as Kate (II) on IMDB) It's in post production now so should be out by summer 2020. They were also signed by Live Nation and UTA so this should help them get more exposure in the west. Music and I were strangers 6 months ago. Then my son recommended Pisces by Jinjer. This led to Nightwish which led me to Band Maid. I'm 65 and this is some of the best music I have ever heard in my life. OMG. I'm alive again! Thank you Band Maid. Thank you Mr. Rock and Roll!

Great reaction. In 2017 it was Jimmy Page who sought out Akane after a show, to tell her how much he enjoyed her drumming. Akane is amazing, always drumming in the pocket, yet so clever and innovative with her pedal work and fills and she is my favorite drummer. You can’t go wrong with any Band Maid songs. Their, professionally recorded, live versions are just as good as the originals, and in many ways are better than the originals.

I think one key to the thickness of the Band-Maid sound is how Akane is constantly changing the flow of the beat and makes her own accents on the drumset with all the double and tripple bass drum kicks and the breaks on the cymbals. She sounds more like a Jazz drummer but I love it. And she harmonizes beautiful with the bass player MISA because they are private good friends too and hang around a lot of at private time. I think she gets not the attention she deserves. Good that you noticed that. Mr. Jimmy Page loves Band-Maid and watched a show. Afterwards he met the drummer Akane (lucky bastard)

I want you to react to Puzzle live, but I'm concerns you may not survive. These 5 ladies are all professionally trained, MISA bass & Akene drums are graduates of the Tokyo School of Music (think Juilliard); Kamani lead guitar college degreed (Economics/Marketing) with music training; Miku rhythm guitar came through the Jpop system; and Saiki had voice training from about 14 yo. Many of their song require multiple listens to "get" their depth of talent and skill. You hear things you missed each time. They should have US dates for the tour just starting Asia. Well put. Kobato Miku is an amazing person in just about every conceivable way. Imagine losing your job in JPOP and having to go to work for Maid Cafés where Kobato tells Miku let's form a kick ass rock band and we'll dress up in our work uniforms. Great idea. Except Kobato Miku has zero experience with Western style rock n roll. She can't play any musical instrument and she has no idea who will be in this band. Further, she has to go back to the people who fired her to get a shot at the big time. Kobato is the 810 year old pigeon that rents some space in Miku's head. The one thing she had going for her was she knew a young lady named Akane Hirose. What this young woman has accomplished since 2013 is nothing short of amazing.
@kokichimaeda13215 жыл бұрын
@@sacluvsBM you are wrong about Miku knowing Akane. From a interview Miku first found Kanami on internet doing a cover video, then she made a phone call that made history. I was listening to some of SCANDAL's music(They're a bit "softer" than Band-Maid or whatever you should say) here on KZbin this past weekend and saw a lot of comments talking about Band-Maid. So I decided to check them out and instantly loved them. They're all amazing and you can tell that they love what they're doing, which just adds to their quality. One of the things that I enjoy about the band is the fact that they're self made. Miku(Guitar/Back-up vocal) found and recruited Kanami(lead guitarist) who recommended Akane(Drummer) who in turn recommended Misa(Bassist) and then THEY selected Saiki to be the lead singer. They had to rely on other peoples writing in the beginning since all their own songs essentially got thrown in the bin by their managers, but now since a few years back all their songs are written by the band members themselves. Given how Japan is known for its mass produced and manufactured bands, it's nice to see a band like Band Maid that rose up by themselves pretty much. Babymetal for example has some good songs, but they are sadly a bit lessened in my eyes because you can tell how manufactured they are. Gun to the head and I had to choose a favorite band member, it would probably be Akane. Mainly because she is very talented on the drums and gives it her all, but also because if I'm not mistaken she is responsible for a lot of the writing when it comes to new songs(And also partly because just like myself she's the glutton of the group). I whish them the best and hope they have their real breakthrough soon so that they can expand their tours and visit more countries and cities. Just like others before me I would recommend that you react to Moratorium Live(kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGilgnahisdnias ) as it is my favorite live performance I've seen of them. Keep rocking.
@outwest10145 жыл бұрын
The writing process goes like this, Kanami writes the music, sends it to MISA & Akene for bass and drums, Miku gets that and writes the lyrics. With that that they go into the rehearsal studio to finalize the song and Saiki tells them when the song is done.
@mrfafaa965 жыл бұрын
@@outwest1014 Oh, okay. Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure about the writing. There was one interview were they talked about how at the beginning all their own writing was rejected and there was one interview that they had in some sort of bar. Can't remember the name of it, all I remember is that there were 3 hosts. I thought that Misa and another band member had each asked Akane "hey, can you write a song about [Insert topic]?". But maybe I'm misremembering. Nice that the entire band is involved in the writing in some way.

@@watcher2554 Lol, never mind Reddit, as I said, I tried to find the quote and I couldn't. All I found was an article that had a quick interview that stated more or less what I wrote earlier. Now, it could be that I missed it, but so far, after having asked everyone who I came across writing about this legend, no one could provide a quote, it was all "I heard somewhere... " etc. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for the story to be true, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem it is, otherwise it would be easy to find the quote...

What I love about the newer Band-Maid stuff is that Kanami has finally trained Miku to be a real rhythm guitarist, not just someone playing power chords for show. You can actually hear Miku's rhythm guitar on the newer trax...and Akane is being spotlighted as well.
