In the original script, Stu was supposed to be a total douchebag in this scene, saying he wanted to send the kids off to military school so he'd have Miranda to himself. As someone who went to military school, I love how the movies make it a punishment thing. Best three years of my life!

Miranda told Stu that Daniel wasn't a responsible father and had not been helping her out with punishments. It was through the divorce and the Mrs. Doubtfire alter-ego that he had to learn balance in being a fun-loving dad and being a responsible parent. The first time, it was hard on Daniel because he was playing Mrs. Doubtfire who was a strict nanny and being a responsible parent is something he had been lacking the whole time. Plus, if you factor in the divorce and the emotions he was feeling, it was clear that Daniel was undergoing feelings of anger and resentment towards Miranda in how she treated him. I'm sure Stu talked to him afterwards in his normal clothing and learned the whole story about the divorce and how hard it was on him. Daniel was trying to get his life back together, an apartment sutable for children and has a steady job at the studio.

Yeah he wasn’t a bad guy at all. He used to date Miranda in college. He’s not “moving in on her” she is divorced. And like you said he does seem to genuinely like the kids. He probably won’t ever replace Daniel in their eyes but would still be a good stepfather.
@tylertilwick6852 Жыл бұрын
Director Chris Columbus said in the original script Stu was the typical “antagonist” who only wanted to Miranda just to send her kids to boarding school and this scene showed his true colors. But both Columbus and Robin Williams felt that if Stu was just a genuinely great guy who really loved Miranda and the kids and was the 'perfect guy', that would be a real threat to Robin’s character.

Sorry to break this to you, but... It's not a real throw. CGI probably. The lime flew on a straight line, with no drop off or anything, which means there had to be enough back spin on the ball to temporarily reverse the coriolis effect. MLB pitchers struggle to achieve this. Unless Robin Williams threw 95mph with amazing control while dressed in a full fat suit complete with fake titties, you can take it to the bank that this scene was edited.

@Ryan V. Ok so he said it happened but that doesn't change what your eyes can see in the video. It's nothing against you, or anyone who thinks it's real, but I stand by my position that the lime flying out of Robin's hand was edited. You don't think actors are capable of lying in interviews for dramatic effect? I will only be convinced that it's a real throw if the raw alternate take gets released where the lime flies past pierces head the first time it's thrown. Otherwise I definitely assume it is CGI.

Emperor Reign I don’t think he was always a good father especially in the beginning of the movie where he decided to let his son have a big birthday party, and his wife did not want one because of her son’s school grades. Also, what about that cartoon job, even though he had different creativity beliefs? He had kids to feed.
@CyckOne Жыл бұрын
Not for nothing, this might be a case of reaping what you sow. Daniel was always an earnest father, but I wouldn’t call him a “good” father (if we are talking the beginning of the movie). There is a difference being earnest and being good… like, this is a man you who couldn’t understand why his wife would have a problem with him suddenly deciding to bring dangerous barn animals into the house around rando neighborhood kids with no notice. He had no issue quitting a job because of wounded pride even though he knew full-well that it meant he wouldn’t be able to do his part in financially supporting his family. He had no issue telling his toddler daughter he wishes that her mother would get a deadly disease. Like, it’s harsh for one fallible human being to call another human being a loser… but, looking at what Stu would have known about Daniel from Miranda, could you blame Stu for saying so? XD

Masterpiece. Another proof which confirms how great were 80s to early 2000s, which gave us so much gems. Nowdays everyone ran out of ideas....mediocre remakes, prequels, sequels, superheroes shit and stupid movies filled of CGI.....pfff

Oh yeah! Old movies truly captured the hearts and emotions of the audience. I watched the 2004 Troy movie a couple years back, and I'm still on a wild roller-coaster!
