This was a masterpiece of a banana cream pie. I always tell my wife that I’m a pie man but she wont cook lol. She’s still a good woman though. My maw maw always made pies. Peanut butter pie, chocolate pie, coconut cream pie with pineapples and pecans, lemon meringue, key lime, punkin pie during holidays. There ain’t nothing better than a fat slab of homemade pie. And let’s not forget the king of them all- Apple Pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

So glad to hear you say "Icebox". My adult kids always tease me about this word. Mom, it's "Refrigerator". My Grandkids used to get confused when I'd ask them to get something out of the Icebox.

They remind me of me and my husband. We were meant for each other. He was my perfect mate. He died from cancer at 34. We married young and had our fifteenth anniversary before he passed away. That's been 35 years ago. I never remarried but, I've been content because I had something that a lot of people that live together for years never no anything about... contentment... God has been so good to me! I believe that Mr Brown and Mrs Lori are God's chosen perfect mates!

As I sit here watching this my mind travels back to the old Toddle House ice box pies, banana cream, coconut cream (my favorite in all the world), chocolate cream and strawberry cream. We didn’t get them very often because of the cost but when my aunt and uncle came to visit from Michigan we knew we were going to be getting Toddle House pies! My Uncle Bill LOVED those pies and there must not have been any Toddle Houses where they lived. So when they came to visit us, he and my Uncle David would always go to Toddle House and come back with about 10 or 15 pies, 2 or 3 of each flavor and we would dig in! I am 72 now and that is one of my best childhood memories!!! I have searched and searched the internet for their official recipe of the coconut but to no avail. Anyway thanks for stirring up a very special memory. By the way, fresh whipped whip cream beats merengue any day! Yum!!! I can just eat that by itself! Thanks again.

He has been doing the shopping since covid, so it's better if I go once a month to get the special items I need for baking. Ms Lori, you need a t-shirt in your store with your famous saying on it.😁 Lol!!! I always have to leave a little bit of whatever I am making, so it can be tasted. When my kids where little, they called it( lick the bowl) They would shout out from different rooms in the house of who got to kick the bowl first. My husband is glad, now it's all his. Lori, I have those stainless steel bowls "German Bowls" they were called. Because my arthritis is so bad in my hands and wrists, I lift that ring up, put my thumb in the ring and grasp the inside of the bowl with my thumb and my fingers spread out against the outside of the bowl. The ring helps support the weight of the bowl and it's contents. It just helps so much, especially with the larger bowls.
