I like that it was julius because a mentor killing a mentee is way more emotional than anyone who setup the bomb
@starkiller0074 жыл бұрын
It's hardly out of character when you consider Troy wanted to bust him, and Julius, being human, probably - in the heat of the moment, gave in and figured a way out for himself. The idea is that Julius felt toward the end that the saints were becoming like the vice kings and didn't want to have continue down that road and cut off all ties with the best deal possible for himself. Dex up and left like a smart man, but Julius figured the only way to truly get out was to kill the player and Gat. Gat didn't die, though, instead got arrested, and the player was too ruthless to just arrest, as Julius predicted, so he opted to put him down like 'ol yeller. I imagine Julius felt fleeting pains of guilt years after the event, but that it was for the best... but oh how wrong he was.

@johntinio16804 жыл бұрын
especially with 3 that would've been better than that empty map they call steelport and 2 even if it was still great would've answered many questions. I hope sr5 either does one of the 2 things they never did most likely they would do what sr2 was supposed to be which was a game set in the 70s if we wanted a gangster style game since a sequel would probably be agents of mayhem but if it was canon to the story. I'd say it woulda been Manuel. Seeing as how the LC had rockets to protect him and Hector, I wouldn't find it too far-fetched for him to be able to get his hands on a bomb. And Manuel isnt a stranger to betrayal, he wanted Luz, revealed Angelo's location, then left Luz for a younger girl in 2. And I'd say the Columbians realized how much they would be pushed if the Saints fully took over and had Manuel take care of it either by hiring a guy to do it or doing it himself. As for him getting wind of the meeting? Stilwater has a lot of loose lips. Hector wasn't even safe from that for Dex and Troy to find out where hid deal was going to be.

He just knew that Hughes had to go because of his plans to tear down the Row as well as revenge for many reasons. The Playa was invited last minute to the boat so he was pretty much stuck at the wrong place at the wrong time.

How cool would it have been, if SR1 had been released with the ORIGINALLY pitched ending (that we should have gotten) and then a SR2 proper that would have accommodated that ending instead of the SR2 which accommodated the ending we originally received. Honestly, I was really attached to Julius in SR1. Not just because I'm a Keith David fan, but the character was really well written and associable. When the bomb blew in my first play through my thought was, "Did Julius just betray me?!". I was hoping it wasn't true, partially because it was a little out of left field and unexpected. I found out about the circumstantial debacle a long time ago, but I always love knowing that it was never in the original plan for Julius to betray the Playa. Now, what if we would've gotten a re-release of SR1 with the authentic ending, and then the appropriate SR2 soon after . . . . Oh, Volition. What you threw away in the name of whatever wild hair demanded you make the reboot into . . . whatever from hell you made.

I've thought about this before and I thought it may have been Dex originally. Although there is no real hints that he planted the bomb, there is some foreshadowing from NPCs that say that they expect that Dex will one day betray Julius so he could become leader of the Saints. By the time of the explosion, Julius was thought to have been in custody making the Playa the new head of the Saints. Dex could've seen this as an opportunity to take over the Saints by killing the Boss, and as a tactician, taking out Hughes could have removed some corrupt governmental problems for the Saints. This is obviously untrue now as Saints Row 2 revealed that Dex had planned to leave the Saints way before the yacht incident.

Donnie is probably the planter of the bomb. In Saints Row 2, he does plant bombs on the Brotherhood's vehicles, so we know he's capable. He also had a liking for Lin and most likely holds a grudge on the player for letting her die. Also, a big giveaway is when Donnie says to the player "You were supposed to be dead!" He might not be talking about the car sinking, because who else would kill Joseph? He could be talking about the yacht bombing.

I liek to think that Aisha and Julius planned it together. Julius got out of jail and went to Aisha, asking her about sourcing a bomb, Aisha seeing it as an opportunity to destroy the saints and hopefully remove Johnny from the gangster lifestyle goes along with it and sources an explosive for Julius. Julius being a man with a strict moral code (and maybe even possibly because she reminds him of Ben King's sister) didn't reveal her involvement. I think Aisha then just played nice in SR2 to avoid a violent reaction from the playa, which could of also perhaps sparked a saints civil war. That's my headcanon anyway

I know I'm two years late but I think Donnie could be likely. Remember in saints row 2 how he used bombs to destroy the brotherhoods trucks. It's like they were teasing their previous story.

A Saints Row back in the 70's can be a prequel to the original Saints Row. From how the Saints started, how Ben King & Julius got to know each other, Ben King sister who had a relationship with Julius (maybe even a kid came out of that relationship and that kid became a parent who is the father/ mother of the Playa), Ben King gaining and losing power in Stillwater , Julius in hiding because he wanted to get out of the gang life and so on and so on

My theory on who planted the bomb? Johnny Gat, if the Saints need a fall guy they're going for the most violent member of the group. That's between Gat and the Player, not to mention that Dex is in Ultor which is bad publicity, Julius is a ghost and Troy is a cop. In Troy's tapes he tells Julius to try and convince Gat and the Player, Julius mentions that the player will be too difficult but never mentioned Johnny being difficult to deal with. It could be that Johnny was asked to get The Player but Gat knew it would be too difficult to grab and fight with him, so he rigged the boat believing it wouldn't make a big difference (the aggressive and chaotic plan of using a bomb fits more with Gat than Julius). This oversight on Gat's part would lead to his imprisonment and eventual trial, but as Gat is saved he not only feels betrayed by Julius and Troy but feels he has no choice, if he wants to survive he must have the Player's back again and help him with the Saints. It's also possible (unless there is a clear timeline) that Gat would have had a deal going while the Player was in a coma where once the player awakens and were to be executed Gat would be silently let go, but because Player escapes Gat became the fall guy and was rushed to court.

I've been saying it a lot around certain circles, but I think it would be a baller move if a remake of Saints Row (either a ground-up remaster or a SR3-engine remake) actually restored Julius's original ending with the implication that the game is actually a reboot timeline now, leaving the possibility for all-new game stories in the era of SR2 and after, of a sort. (more spoilerific ideas below the "more" bit) The reboot specially a branch-out from the "cop" ending of Gat out of Hell. What if after the reboot he remembers everything before, but his more youthful experiences and semi-impartial take on that past history makes him feel like the Saints getting so big as to cause the destruction of Earth is a bad thing, so it turns out in this timeline he was the undercover cop in the Row instead of Troy, sabotaging the Saints after the Rollerz, Carnalas & Kings are smoked so that they never come to the same power that led them to the events of the Third and later. It's a betrayal rooted in keeping Aisha and everything he knows safe, but not a straightforward one. Like Troy, he still has the brotherhood of the Row, so he doesn't want to outright kill his friends, but he wants to stop them from being the same force that got them from Steelport to the White House. An alternate take on his dissatisfaction with celebrity in The Third; he wants to keep the Saints grounded & out of the attention of the Syndicate/Zynak/Satan like before.

Wait, if the original idea for SR2, during writing of the first, involved Ultor, that means we can factor Ultor into the theorizing. So yeah, I guess Ultor is a good option for setting the Playa up the bomb.
@kadnaz2 жыл бұрын
It could very easily be the Rollerz's buyers, aka the Ronin. The Ronin have the motive to kill the playa, through the fact that they wiped out their suppliers, the Rollers, and they also have the means, due to being a well funded organised crime group. Doesn't seem too far fetched to me.

I thought it was confirmed Julius did it because if you recruit Matt and Julius together they have an interaction on how they tried to kill the boss with Julius admitting he blew up the boat

personally I think it was ultor, if not much changes for the hypothetical saints row 3 to what became saints row 2 then ultor would have the same level of power that it did in the real saints row 2. And how they become so influential? By taking over the renovation plan of saints row after Hughes death, so either playa was collateral damage and the real objective was Hughes or they decided to kill both Hughes and a important lieutenant of the saints to cripple them and make things easier. Make sense considering the role that ultor had back in saints row 2.

About the Ben King one. Could it be that since King left before he possibly didn't know the playa would be on the yacht, but known that the yacht belonged to alderman hughes so he planted the bomb while the playa just happened to be on board? Although it'd be kind of hard to continue off from that. And assuming Saint's Row 2 would have turned out the same except for Julius being the culprit how do you think they'd handle Aisha appearing in the Ronin story or the reveal itself?
