Very interesting and somewhat undermines early advice I was reading about success in this question back in 2017/2018 when teachers (and seemingly AQA) were emphasising the need for depth over breadth in the language question.

I noticed the same points you made when looking at past paper answers myself, but I always thought it was more complicated than that. Thanks!

Question: Don't I have to zoom into a word from the quote for Paper 1 Q2? For example, Mr Salles is the best English Language teacher as his students "shockingly got a Grade 9". The imagery "shockingly" suggests...

Hello Mr. Salles. Your videos already provided much help in my literature mock: I got an extra grade up cramming your videos before the exam. I am currently struggling with raising my result of English language above grade 7, as I struggle to get top quality of each answer on time. I bought your guide a few days ago (content is stupendous and I admire the puns in blue speech bubbles) and after a few hours of note taking, my timing got completely better: I had never had such comfortable timeframe for the question I did last. However, I do not understand the mark scheme or how I am supposed to mark my own answer. Therefore, my question (after some long winded description of my case) is where do I post my answer if I wished to have feedback? Please and thank you. (Hope you have had a great Easter and are enjoying your holiday)

Has anyone else had pushback from teachers on this method? My daughter is being told this technique doesn't give enough detail for full marks? I disagree but slightly concerned that GCSE English teachers are saying not to use this method
@MrSallesTeachesEnglish2 жыл бұрын
There are 4 possible reasons for this. It looks different, so the teacher is uncertain. Your daughter is writing too little in her explanations. Your daughter isn’t using the full time limit. (If she is, the teacher’s comment is irrelevant - your daughter can’t write more). Having read and written hundreds of exam answers I am simply wrong.

@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Thank you. I suspect point 1 is correct. My daughter is "predicted" to get straight 9s across the board but I'm concerned with the workload she has (11 GCSEs) so we're not looking for shortcuts - but to simplify revision practice! Your guides and techniques are absolutely fantastic (Language and Literature). I was just concerned that I was pushing her down the incorrect path. Thank you again.

Do past paper questions and ask your teacher to mark them. Ask your teachers for answers which are 2 grades better. Work out how they are better. Do more practice. Read books. Watch my videos and take notes
