Australians love to swear. It's in their DNA. In fact, they are so creative with swearing that they are able to formulate a set of curse-words for any and all situations. Australians are the only people I've met who have a couple of swear-words for greeting old friends. It's very funny to hear an ordinary Australian rattle off a tirade of curse-words, just because they're happy :-)

The reason why Peanut Oil is better than Sesame Oil when cooking at high temperatures is their smoke point difference. Peanut Oil has a higher smoke point than Sesame Oil, meaning that it doesn't start burning/over smoking at higher temperatures as fast as Sesame Oil would. So when making things like fried rice or cooking in a wok, peanut oil is the way to go with a touch of sesame oil to finish as a flavor enhancer in your dish. Love your videos! Keep up the amazing content! :)

for fried rice I prefer Lard or Tallow (beef fat)
@basarabaskenji7527
@basarabaskenji7527 3 жыл бұрын
@@ainzooalgown7589 Tallow should be okay. It’s smoke point isn’t as high as peanut oil, but it’s still decent enough to use on an indoor stove. Lard I would not recommend for most due to its lower smoke point as it can burn really quickly and get smoky fast at high temperatures. Maybe in a saucepan lard would be fine as long as temperature is controlled, but I would recommend against using it in a high temp wok.

Sesame oil has a lower smoke point, so it burns on high heat, making it unsuitable for frying. It's better for flavor, and added part way during the frying so it doesn't have the chance to heat all the way up to it's smoke point. Allergy jokes aside, peanut oil and soybean oil are commonly used for frying due their low cost and high smoke point. They are also neutral oils, which means they they don't really have much of a flavor and don't overpower the flavor of your other ingredients.

@@MikeRees doesn't surprise me xD But still, I think saving time is the bigger factor here. Packet rice takes like 2mins in the microwave, whereas cooking white rice takes a lot longer comparatively. And if you like natural rice, well, you're gonna be staring at your pot for a while lol. So I can understand if someone opts for packet rice. Even if I don't agree & personally never buy it bc I find the taste to be revolting and it involves more plastic than just buying bigger packets of not microwaveable rice. I don't eat that much rice, so for me it's not worth buying one of those gigantic fabric sacks of rice. If I ate a lot of rice, I would definitely buy those & a rice cooker for sure.

I’m from Australia. And no that’s not influencing my thoughts here. This Aussie that was cooking Fried Rice never said he was cooking absolutely authentic Fried Rice. He said it was Australian Fried Rice ( Whatever that really is. Because every cook all over the world has their own variations on cooking. Whether that be the oil you cook with to the ingredients used and also proportion of said ingredients) . It’s been a long time since I’ve cooked Fried Rice but if I was cooking it today, I’d probably use Olive Oil because it’s a healthy oil to cook with and is versatile. Either that or I’d use a spread called Nuttelex which is a Butter alternative which has Olive Oil in it, to cook with. I buy Nuttelex Buttery and it does taste somewhat buttery. Plus you can eat Toast anytime of the day. Same goes for Porridge and “Breakfast Cereal “. You can eat them anytime you want. It’s up to you. I’ve had toast at night with my own version of Scrambled Eggs. And a toaster isn’t just for toasting bread. You also cook Pop Tarts in a Toaster. Just ask Americans. Also you cook English Muffins in a toaster and Crumpets in a Toaster. So a Toaster is a lot more versatile than people think........ ⚛️☮️🌏

I know so many people who say that buying a rice cooker changed their life. Not me, I've never been afraid of cooking rice. (Serious though, if you're nervous about cooking rice and don't want a rice cooker, buy a sauce pan made from flame-proof glass. You can use it for all the things you normally use a sauce pan for, but you can also see into it, so you can see when the rice is done cooking. No more water in the sauce pan = rice is done cooking. Turn off heat and let sit for 10 minutes) Peanut oil is more common in the West than the East (especially in the United States). It can be cooked with very, very high heat without burning, so it is the best oil for deep frying. However, the allergen that will hurt people is in the oil, so it is not as common in restaurants because of legal reasons. Most restaurants will use soybean oil (some people are allergic to soybean, but it is much less common than peanut), but peanut oil can be bought from markets to be used at home.

I only cook rice on a stove, use the old finger trick and adjust to the rice, it's not that hard.

I use both that and rice cooker. The stove-cooked rice is our backup while the rice cooker is our primary source of rice. The stove-cooked rice is kept in the refrigerator just in case the rice in the rice cooker eventually runs out and we need to cook a new batch. While the rice cooker is cooking a new batch of rice, we use the stove-cooked rice to reheat and eat until the rice cooker finishes.

I know there are some people that are sensitive to MSG. It gives them a headache. So did you know that Mushrooms when they are cooked, release the same exact chemical? Monosodium glutamate, is in the mushrooms so you do have to be careful, some have more than others so if you can get different kinds, you can test to see which ones are better for you when cooked. Another KZbinr I watch says, "More green onion make everything better." In my house we say, "More mushrooms makes everything better".

Uncle Roger has a good point. You could just use the oven to make toast, and then get a rice cooker.
