I found this channel after I needed to learn to solder for one specific project. After wrapping it up I've been coming back to watch videos regularly, even though it's very unlikely I will ever solder again. There's something compelling about watching the techniques on display. It almost makes me wish I had something to solder

Great channel! I’ve recently bought a practice board with varying sizes of components. I’ve now watched a lot of your videos and now feel confident in tackling it. Excellent work mate. Cheers. 😊

Hi , thank you for your support of my channel , very much appreciated . Plenty of practice is definitely helpful as you get to learn about tools and consumables you may need i.e different solder thicknesses , various tweezers etc . You will be amazed at how you can go smaller and smaller with parts soldered as you learn . Hopefully my channel covers lots of basics that can be helpful . Good luck and thanks again 👍

Good video with lots of great info. People need to be careful when buying the Quick unit as there are a lot of Fake items on sale at the moment. You're looking for a machine who's' rating plate (on the back) shows 220 volt 1300 watt. the fake ones are 230 volt 1000 watts and won't be as effective as a genuine model. Thanks for sharing with us again, looking forward to next time.

Hi , thank you for a good point , that definitely is worth mentioning . I always try and buy from reputable dealers so I know what I'm getting . Thanks again for your continued support, I will definitely start posting again early in the new year . I am just a bit busy at the moment to post . Take care 👍

I always thought the hot air gun was ultra expensive. It is not that bad with regards to how much it can help. Thx for sharing.

Hi , thank you for your comment and continued support of my channel . Hot air guns are essential if you are doing quite a bit of rework on boards . You can get a lot cheaper versions than the Quick 861 station I speak about , but beware some of the cheap stations may not be that accurate temperature wise , just do your research really and hopefully people reading this will all be ok . Thanks again , take care 👍

Weller WECP-20 or something like that. I love soldering stations that still have a knob to adjust temperature. No clue how the build quality of the newer Weller stations are, but the old ones are build to last. So buying a working used one is not a waste.

Hi , thank you for your comment . Definitely wouldn't be against buying an older style Weller , they seem to last . Occasionally I've had to change the temperature sensor inside my TCP S version but easily done . I've tried some of the newer ones but always end up going back to the one I've mentioned . Thanks again 👍

I've been watching these fantastic videos to improve my skills, in general, but I'm also in search of tips that might help me install a SC79 package part onto a much larger SOD-123 footprint. The edge to edge pad spacing for the SOD-123 is 2.5mm but the edge to edge distance between the SC79 legs is only 1.7mm. Maybe I can get solder to bridge the 0.4mm gap between pad and legs but I think it will require more of me than basic soldering skills, because the SC79 package and legs are so tiny!

Your channel is fantastic & informative. I recently ...well stuffed up😢 got impatient & overheated a board in an attempt to remove an eprom to socket it very stupidly - I wrecked a few ?eyelets & very fine traces ( running under the eprom chip). Had a look & you have some videos on repairing a board but I'd like specific where the ?eyelets are lifted or missing and extremely fine traces damaged broken..can you consider covering this at some point please?

Hi , thank you for watching the video and commenting , much appreciated . I've posted a few videos showing trace repairs , one a couple of months ago features some miniscule traces . Every type of repair method you will ever need is in that video . Try and check it out if possible . If you have a missing PCB barrel on your board , if the board is multilayer it can be a big issue due to disconnection of the inner layers . You may be able to fix it if you have the schematic of the board . Simple 2 sided boards you can buy PCB eyelets that fit through the missing barrels . Check them out . Hope that helps .Thanks again , take care 👍

@mrsolderfix3996 ok thanks very much for responding I'd seen some trace repair vids but must have missed one you're referring to ill go back & have look. It's 80/90ss era so I assume its single layer, just haven't found eyelets that seem correct yet. Thanks for again for your great informative channel!

When I'm upgrading my hot air station I'd like one that goes from 60-480 but I have a hard time finding one that goes this low. I use the lower temperatures to reshape certain kinds of plastics.

Hi mate, great channel. I have a S9 hash board that i need to change the caps on. The solder seems super stuck and dont want to crank up the temp too far to cause damage. It seems there is heat soaking into a nearby heat sink, as the iron tip keeps getting tacky on the solder of the caps and never melts properly. I also managed to get one out but the through hole is blocked and cant unblock it. Any top tips please. Kindest regards Col.

Sometimes I come across what looks like a white jst sh connector, but it isn't, it's just wires stuck in that thing and you need to unsolder it completely. What is it called and used for ? Why do they not just solder the wires ? Thanks for your informaticve video's!

Dear Mr SolderFix - My iron has an adjustable temperature, but it doesn't provide a digital reading of the exact temp. Can you make a video that explains how to guage whether your tip is to hot, or not hot enough when there is no digital readout to tell you the exact temp? I typically just adjust the temp as needed based on how well my solder appears to be melting....and since I know the lead content of it, I kinda have an idea of how it should melt.
